I regret engaging with them, it caused me a lot of stress

I engaged Legalitas for legal advice regarding a settlement agreement (VSO) offered by my employer. When I initially contacted them, I was quoted an hourly rate of €240 + VAT, with an expectation that the total time would be 1.5 to 2 hours. Based on that, I anticipated a cost of around €500–€600.

However, after a single short consultation (approximately 30-45 minutes) and 2 emails exchanged, I received an invoice for €2499,99. This was never communicated to me as a fixed fee in advance, and it came as a complete surprise. The billing seemed to be based not on the work performed, but on the gross legal compensation mentioned in my settlement agreement — which I was personally responsible for, and which was subject to taxation. This misunderstanding caused a great deal of stress and confusion.

Over the course of two full business days, I exchanged multiple emails with their billing department trying to resolve the situation. I repeatedly asked for a breakdown of the invoice and tried to explain the discrepancy between the agreed rate and the final bill. The process was emotionally draining and time-consuming, especially since I originally reached out to Legalitas to avoid stress and uncertainty during an already difficult career transition.

To their credit, Legalitas eventually issued a revised invoice that aligned with the original hourly quote. I appreciate that the issue was resolved in the end. However, the lack of transparency and communication up front, combined with the difficulty in reaching a resolution, made this a very stressful experience for me — far more so than the legal issue I initially needed help with.

I’m sharing this to help others make an informed decision. This was my personal experience and reflects how the situation affected me emotionally and practically.

I filled in form on their website

I filled in form on their website. They called me, said anything can be done. Quickly made appointment in the morning to come to their office. It turned out they cannot do anything for me, and they still charged me! They never mention about payment when they made the appointment! After the meeting conversation where the lawyer clearly said, that it cannot be done what I wanted, and only a remedy that I said I did not want in the initial form is offered. They even sent incasso and threatening forced collection. For one meeting, suggested by them, and they cannot do anything for me.
I also answered that I donot have legal insurance, and they are exploiting that in hope that I will pay instead of incurring bigger costs.
