Italian natives, Maurizio and Diego founded Opera Patisserie, a wholesale artisan pastry business. The patisserie supplies many of the best restaurants, cafés and hotels in Dublin. In Wicklow, Opera shares their love of patisserie, fine wine and gourmet deli items. Eat in or take away, we can’t wait to meet you. As well as freshly baked patisserie and breads, we offer a great brunch menu from our café, followed by pizza and small plates from the kitchen in the evening. We source locally as much as possible and add an Italian twist to the dish, as befits our heritage.

The best café in Wicklow

I’m a regular customer in Opera & I highly recommend this café. The selection of foods on offer is excellent, the pastries are so delicious, the coffee is lovely - the best in Wicklow, and the staff are always very warm, friendly and welcoming. Everything is made fresh on site & the prices are very reasonable. I always bring my visitors there too and everyone insists on returning. By far this is the best café in Wicklow & I’d highly recommend a visit there - treat yourself!

Great spot - incredible staff, amazing food / beverages and very reasonable prices.

I stopped in here for coffee while on a walk recently. It was very busy, which is appropriate for a Saturday morning, but I noticed that Opera was at least twice as busy as any of the other places I passed along the way and that’s always a good indication of a great spot, which is why I stopped in here. The coffee was fantastic - I’ve been a barista myself for many years and this was the first time I’d ever seen or even heard of somewhere mixing iced coffee in a cocktail shaker. It’s an amazing idea though and my coffee was properly mixed and also slightly aerated, which made for a nice texturing. I hadn’t intended to buy anything else, but when I saw the huge range of cakes on display I was tempted. I got the lemon meringue tartlet and a flapjack, and both were incredible. What really made this visit special however was the staff. I was served by two girls - one with short slightly curly brown hair and one with long, straight dark hair. Both of them were obviously under a lot of pressure with a rush happening, but both made sure to chat with me while they worked and did so incredibly efficiently. I had a look at the menu for the restaurant as I very briefly waited for my coffee and the menu not only looks very varied, but I was genuinely shocked by how reasonable the prices were. My coffees and cakes too were very cheap. I live closer to Dublin and the prices in my area are significantly more, everywhere. The people of Wicklow are very very lucky to have such a gem on their main street. I’ll definitely be back again.

Great! I give this restaurant a 5/5 stars because the staff are lovely and patient and the aroma is on point. It is my first time here and i don’t think it will be my last either. The food was great and the cheese was so pulley something we all look for in a cheese toastie! The crisps i had with it were great and i don't think they could do any better! Thank you so much for serving me! I’ll never forget it

Opera evening meal very disappointing

I am writing this review in the interests of Opera upping their game and ensuring its survival. Last night, quite frankly, the dining experience was very poor. Started by my wife and I each sitting on broken chairs (screws missing from the legs) followed by a very limited choice of white wine (some wine was out of stock - note on a previous occassion Opera had run out of beer - really!). Clipboard menu was dirty and to be honest the selection continues to be very poor. The pizza was pretty much all dough although it did taste nice. The restaurant lacked any atmosphere - removing the specialist food selection shelves at the end of the restaurant has not helped in my view. What's more it looked like someone was 'having a go' at painting part of the room. All in all not worth the money. Come on guys you can do better than this, where is your sense of pride around your offering!

Disappointing experience

I visited Opera in Wicklow this week end and firstly was very disappointed to see that they had changed their offer. We were told we had to have a set menu of either €28 for 2courses or €38 for 3courses and that we could not simply enjoy a pizza without being forced to have a starter or a dessert we didn’t want. A pizza and a tiramisu for €28 is way off the mark and it’s no longer the good value, cosy pizza restaurant. Secondly it was freezing in the restaurant and I was up and down like a yo yo closing doors, three tables requested to move while we were there as it was so cold. Our food was also disappointing and our pizzas were tepid when we finally got them. We asked for them be served hot and the palaver with the waitress to get it right was just so much effort. Is it that difficult to serve a hot pizza? The whole place was off its game and just not good enough and there was no recognition of this by the server dealing with us. Avoid this place

Congratulations to Opera for bringing amazing Italian cuisine to Wicklow

Amazing flavours of authentic Italian cuisine served in a homely pleasurable dining environment.

Thanks to Claudio for introducing me to Opera from the time they opened. They serve truly amazing authentic Italian cuisine with wonderful flavours that remind me of when I regularly travel to and dine in Italy. My sisters and I always look forward to a chat with the gentlemanly and kind Claudio (always the best dressed in Wicklow). He helped us last year when our car broke down. Claudio is a credit to Opera.

I travel to and dine in many countries throughout the world as part of my job. Opera is one of the very best places to go to in Ireland if one is looking for really good authentic Italian cuisine outside of Italy.

My sister sent a great review of Opera some time ago on behalf of me and my other sisters. But now, I wanted to do so personally.

Please, can the Opera management ask Claudio to send me the WEB address of the place in Sicily that he recommended when we last met him in Opera. My telephone was stolen along with his contact number. Please ask him to send the WEB information along with his contact number to my email wwwaamurphymailcom

Congratulations to Opera for bringing amazing Italian cuisine to Wicklow.
