I'm very happy with the insurance, eventhough I'm changing to Techniker now. But what I really like about the HEK is the fast and easy video chat support service. Super quick, friendly and helpful.
The HEK app I find a bit slow
I'm new with HEK and selected them for their bonus programs that my insurance broker told me about. They've since stripped all of that information from their website and it says to just call them about the bonus programs. I call, and the person on the phone said he couldn't give me any information and someone would need to call me back at their convenience. I'm at work and can't just take calls. The only solution was to send a general email, I was told. I'm really regretting this decision to switch from AOK.
Not a serious Company
Several issues of charging me almost 4000EUR calculated with incorrect contribution amount, not responding timely when I reached them via email or phone, sending me a health insurance card with the same name not receiving any messages I sent them via app, and a few other minor issues.
The only plus I have is that on the phone they are sometimes quite friendly.
HEK worked well for me for the first 3 years but recently I have been experiencing ever increasing problems (such as the false charging of almost 4000EUR) I recommend that you look into health insurance companies, I know I will be

They've send a bunch of letters to my old adress and claim I've not been reachable for the past six months. However, they've got my E-Mail and cellphone number since 2017. They did not try to reach me via these communication channels even once. Not once! That is insane to me. If they so despiratly need some forms filled out, why the hell are they going through the trouble of sending one letter after the other into oblivion and spend all that money, if they could have just send me one E-Mail?
Now I see why they need so much money ... (－‸ლ)

I am not sure how this insurance company have any members. Shorty, I am using one medicine to control my blood urine acid level almost a 6 years now and it cost around 100€ / package that last 3 months. My participation was always 10€ and in June it changed to 75€ as there were some "chipper" alternatives in their database. Upon discussion with HEK consultant I did look for those alternatives they recommended, but they were not currently available (neither online or in shop). I could not wait and I paid a 75€ participation on medicine that cost 107€ and send them. Upon 3 emails and 1 month time I got notification via their app that they cannot reimburse me (here is fun part) for L-Thyrox / Vigantol that cost anyhow ~ 5€ - what to say more – I am changing my insurance company with next possible slot. Avoid this insurance company.
Of course this Health insurance will make you sick, when you need to cancel it. After every time discussion they get silent for sometime and then a new bill to pay even you are not insured with them. Theyvjust want money from you.
For God sake, Dont even think to use this health insurance.
