When I opened an account I was put into a program which is supposed to offer discounts off your monthly bill, I was not asked if I was interested but just added to my account anyways.
It has a monthly fee and when I noticed I went into their office and they said I would have to wait a year until the contract ended in order to cancell it despite not wanting it from the start.
Over a month prior to the contract ending I went into the office to cancell the contract which I did yet I am still being charged for the Easy Pack which I did not want in the first place.
I found their staff to be rude and not taking responsibility for their error and when I complained at the store location they said their computer was havng issues after 30 minutes waiting for them to file the complaint but ws told that they would send it as soon as they were back online.
I never heard a word back from anyone one at EDP.
If you ae thinking of using them be very carefull because they will enroll you in things you do not want and offer no benefit and the Easy is supoosed to offer monthly discounts at retailers and grocery stores but when you try to use them it was say either you have funds which I clearly did or that the offer was unavailable and to retun next month where the exact same thing would happen.
They are theives so be very carefull!

I ordered solar panels in december 2025. May 2026 they came to install them!?!?
From day 1 the app did not work. I put in several requests to resolve this. After a negative review they gave me a case nr and told me it was going to be fixed within a week. Now more than 2 months later nothing!!
They will not respond anymore to the mail with the casenr and all the requests are pending.
I had to give 1 star because there are no negative stars.
I will not tell anybody what to do with solar from EDP, but I wish I never got involved with them. Very bad experience, still going on today.
EDP a thief company / a scammer
The worst experience ever. I cancel my energy contract with EDP in June 2026, and a month later they are still charging me for debts with no invoices. I was charged 3 times now for something I don’t know what the charge is related to.
I wrote to EDP 4 times by email requesting clarification and explanation of such charges and EDP never gave me an explanation.
I decided to move to a different supplier on 16 June 2026 and until now I could not close the contract.
I’ve never encountered a website with so many bugs. Closing a contract should be a simple process, yet it has become a titanic challenge. The customer portal is unreliable, confusing, and repeatedly prevents users from completing basic requests.
Not recommended at all!
Solar battery not working properly
They chased me to accept their proposed savings by having solar panels and a battery fitted. The battery worked properly for 3 weeks whilst in a temp location. Since relocated to its permanent position it has not worked properly. Many phone calls and still no action. They have tried to blame EREDS voltage stability but EREDS have checked and there is no fault.

We have been trying to get solar panels…
We have been trying to get solar panels for more than one year. After many phone calls, we had someone come to assess our property and then when it came time to sign the contract, no one contacted us. So we tried again. Many, many, many more phone calls, then we had an appointment to have another assessment. EDP scheduled the appointment and promised that they would call to confirm. We called them to discover that there is an "error" - no one knows what the error is - so that there is no appointment. Yet another promise to call us back. We are giving up and going to Leroy Merlin to see how we do with them.
The worst experience ever with an…
The worst experience ever with an energy supply company. The customer service forces you to spend endless hours choosing an issue, and it never connects you directly to a human voice that can actually explain the bureaucracy and misleading communication of the brand, which triggers services on your contract without them being requested. A disgrace and a rip-off. Avoid if you can.
EDP x Pingo Doce Campaign is a scheme to charge more
I received an email from EDP inviting me to join the EDP + Pingo Doce campaign. Since I already have a contract with EDP and found the campaign interesting, I decided to join. To my surprise, I received a new contract to sign. I didn't sign it because I immediately suspected their intentions. When I compared the amounts, I realized they were indeed different from those in my current contract. Despite not signing the new contract, it was activated without my consent. I had to call to request a reversal, and they sent me the old contract to sign again.
I find this type of practice unacceptable. Nobody wants to sign a new contract to join a campaign. And if it's necessary to do so, then there should be more transparency about the necessary contractual changes, and they should only be applied after signing. This type of practice does not contribute to improving trust in EDP as a company.
Worst customer service ever
I had a problem with another electricity company so I decided to switch back to EDP where I originally had a contract (and now I regret it). They still had my documents and everything so it would only take a day to switch the electricity back on. Next day (wednesday), still no electricity. I called them and apparently I needed a technician from E redes to check everything. Scheduled the appointment for Friday and no show up!!! After calling both edp and e redes, they said i should wait until 20h. I called again, another employee said the latest they work is until 18h. So ive been waiting all day for nothing. The weekend is coming and I still dont have a new appointment scheduled. This is a nightmare. Especially the lack of clear information drives me insane. This week Ive been calling everyday and everytime its a different story. If i didnt call they would not even have scheduled an appointment in the first place. Is this what they call customer service? They don't even know themselves what is going on.
Attention
Attention: EDP Pack is an absolute extortion of money. These people are impossible to work with, the lies and extortion is outrageous. Stay away from these packs, actually stay away from this provider all together. Absolute nightmare to deal with, be very careful
It is the worst company that I had to…
It is the worst company that I had to deal with ever. When I asked to increase the power they sign me to a Service Pack just by checking the checkbox on the form without telling me. I call their customer service and went to the shop 4 times and explained that they signed me to this without my approval, but they refuse to cancel the package which I wasn't using since the house was being constructed. Eventually I disconnected from EDP and had to pay for the package until the end of the period.
EDP charged me for the Pack Easy…
EDP charged me for the Pack Easy service, which I never requested, signed for, or authorized. I explicitly told their phone representative that I did not want this service, yet they insisted I would have to keep it until December. On top of that, some invoices show the charge twice, meaning I am being billed multiple times for something I never agreed to.
EDP also blocks replies to their emails, making it impossible to communicate directly with them. This is unacceptable and shows a clear lack of respect and transparency towards customers.
I strongly advise anyone to check their bills carefully — do not pay for services you never agreed to.
I feel robbed every bill
I feel robbed every bill. What is this story on renewables? I feel I'm paying for it but never benefitting. The worst costs in the EU.
The most unprofessional and scamming…
The most unprofessional and scamming company I ever experienced. My family and I moved from Portugal in April 2024, we called and closed our accounts and thought all was good. 5 months later I receive new invoices, spent a tons of time to get in contact with someone who speaks English and apparently when closing our account - there were another account which conveniently renews yearly and that happened after me thinking I closed everything (why don’t you tell when calling??). Anyways we pay a year ahead to close the account and have them confirm that now everything is closed and paid everything, she confirms pr. phone call but cannot send an email confirming?! Fast forward 6 months and new invoices arrives, this means 1 year after moving from Portugal?! I tried to call several of times, no one can speak proper English and we closed our PT bank accounts. Now we have agreed that this is scam and will never end hence blocked their mails. They just want people to pay to solve the case, to then stay in the same situation again and again.. why company’s like these are allowed to exist is a mystery, stealing people’s money and harassing. Just received a fresh invoice 1.5 year later, it’s a joke!

I had a contrac with EdP during 2 years. Then I changed my residence and the electricity supplier, because EdP is clearly far more expensive than others. However, I keep on receiving bills from EdP, and no arguments stop them ...
Scammers
Scam!
I don't speak Portuguese.
When signing with them, they signed me up for EDP SMART without asking or telling me. I don't want/need that. I called to the customer service and was told that it can't be canceled!
Even when I switch to another company, I will have to pay a full year.
EDP office in Lagos- the worst customer…
EDP office in Lagos- the worst customer service I’ve seen. Only one staff member on duty - so far she has spent one hour and 20 minutes with one customer - and with obvious computer issues. I’m still
Waiting…. Ridiculous . Did this company never train their staff to escalate a problem and get on with dealing with the customers waiting….
Impossible to cancel – automated replies only
I submitted my first cancellation request early May 2025 for both electricity and gas. I moved out on 29 May and have no access to the flat.
Since then I’ve sent more than ten e-mails and web forms and called customer support repeatedly. Every time I get the same “no-reply” automated message, or a phone queue that never reaches a human. Meanwhile EDP keeps billing me for June and even booked a technical visit that requires someone to open the door, impossible because I’m abroad.
My landlord can’t create a new contract because EDP’s system still shows mine as active.
I have provided final meter readings, forwarded the signed lease termination, and followed every instruction EDP gave. Nothing moves. The only “service” I receive is a threat of €20 if no one shows up for their unwanted visit.
After years with various utilities in multiple countries, EDP is by far the worst customer-experience I’ve faced. Zero accountability, zero real human contact, endless automated loops. If you ever need to cancel your contract, be prepared for weeks of frustration.
I now have no choice but to file a complaint with ERSE and the national consumer portal. Avoid EDP if you value your time and sanity.
A Job Well Done
Well, having read all of the latest reviews, I was not expecting much help when I visited EDP’s Lagoa office to discuss my electricity bills and possible ways to reduce them.
Imagine my surprise when I met Patricia Santos, who quickly understood my reason for the visit and proceeded to advise me on a number of possible ways to reduce my electricity costs, including moving to a single fixed tariff, possibly reducing my electricity rating (potencia) after my recent installation of solar panels (not EDP) and arranging for an engineer to visit my home to review my usage and advise on the latter, and changing from paper to email bills.
Patricia was a delight to talk to, very polite and very knowledgeable about her company’s services and how they might be applied to my situation.
Thank you Patricia.
Absolutely disgusting service from EDP
Absolutely disgusting service from EDP. Cut off our electricity for absolutely no reason. A faulty of theirs which they admitted to and refused to do anything about it. Incorrect invoicing and an error from EDP charging us the incorrect amount. Staff at Aveiro EDP were uninterested and gave incorrect information. Have cancelled our services with immediate effect!
