Garden Design Academy of Ireland Reviews 

I always loved gardening and plants in general. Earlier this year, somebody asked me what would I do if I could ditch my office job in biopharma, and I said i'd be a garden designer without hesitation. I've never even thought about it before. Same day I went googling and found this course and all the reviews just encouraged me.
All I can say is that I don't remember last time I actually enjoyed a three hour lecture and not looked at my watch every 15 minutes. I love everything - the classess, the assignments, and our tutor Jorge is just amazing, very passionate about the whole industry and it just makes me inspired every time.
I'm only 10 classes in and all of this is very new, and I do realise that a lot of my other classmates are in horticulture or landscaping or something else related, but I feel like this is the step in the right direction, and the course just gives you all the information and the tools for it. I highly recommend it.

Enjoy the learning with classes and online. Good content, and design principles. Want to achieve this now and design gardens for my working career.

I am really enjoying the course and I feel I have learned a lot. Just one thing, there is no access to publications on the online library so I had to buy some books myself.

The course and assignments were highly engaging, enriching, and genuinely enjoyable throughout. It has been a very rewarding experience for me.

It was quite demanding, as I was working at the same time as an engineer in a large company, but studying from home, along with perseverance and consistency, allowed me to keep up with the pace. I had set myself the goal of completing one course and one assignment per month over 10 months in order to obtain the diploma.

The teaching team is present and responsive when it comes to answering questions, and the lessons are very clear and well designed. I was looking for a professional qualification that would add real value to my CV, and I found exactly what I was looking for.

I am really enjoying the course. I love it that I can spend as much time as I need to study and do my assignments. There is a vast amount of information which I personally like. O was just a little surprised about sketching and actually having artistic skills to get good grades. Overall I am excited to learn more.

The course is very interesting, covering a wide range of topics and presenting challenging assignments. The online materials and web access is excellent. I highly recommend studying at the garden design academy! I'm still at the beginning, but so far the experience has been fantastic! The tutors are always available to answer questions and recommend books for those who want to learn more about a subject! I also found the prices very affordable.

I joined the diploma in garden design home study course and I am half the way there. It covers a wide range of topics from history of gardens to learning to draw garden plans. Drawings I found it difficult at first, but have improved a lot. Tutor support deserves special mention as well as an excellent online library with very good resources. Great online option for those looking for home study in garden design.

I’m really enjoying the project work - it was difficult to begin with as I’d never done art or tech drawing. However I got a tech drawing book from one of my kids school days & practiced some stuff but I’m a long way from being proficient. I must practice my colouring technique also. My phone is filling up with garden pictures & im picking up lots of ideas re layout & colour.
Always good to know my tutor is there to advise me / help when needed so don’t feel like I have to muddle on.

I began the gardener designer online course 3 months ago and i am having a great experience. The tutors are really helpful and efficient. Although i am finding the course quite challenging they are always there to help me and showing me their support and motivation. i am really grateful for that.

I recently completed the Garden Design Academy's online course and couldn't be more thrilled with the experience! Firstly, the course content was incredibly comprehensive. From the fundamentals of garden design principles to the finer details of plant selection and maintenance, every aspect was covered in depth. The course included valuable business and marketing lessons. These sessions will equip you with the necessary knowledge to start your garden design business. The assignments were well-structured and easy to follow, allowing me to progress at my own pace while still feeling challenged. The tutor was exceptional, offering valuable insights and support throughout. Whether a beginner or an experienced gardener, this course is a must-try!

I enrolled in a Diploma course with the Garden Design Academy, in hindsight at the wrong time for me personally, and found myself reaching the end date without having started. I was very stressed and decided to ring to see what options I might have. Luckily for me Alastair Strong was on duty and he calmed me, reassured me and gave me very, very helpful advice. He was extremely kind and helpful and because of that I am going to continue to do the course. Doing the course while working full time, was a hard thing to do. The staff are helpful, and I think the course is pretty affordable to most people.

My advice is, if you are starting this course or plan to start this course, I highly recommend that you invest in AutoCAD LT and maybe BIM introductory courses (lots of online classes available out there that you can take, that only last a couple weekends) specially if you feel intimidated by working with Design Software, it will help you immensely. It will make your work look super crisp and very easy to read!

Update:
I want to warn everyone of the dangers of being told to do internships without renumeration. My point is, if you choose to go ahead with an internship (which is optional), be warned that you have the right to be paid! Unpaid internships are a criminal offense in Ireland. Do your research! Do not let employers take advantage of you because you are inexperienced! Just my two cents.
