Hacked but no cooperation
I saw a lot of similar complaints about chargepoint about the same issue. It's 2026 and i’m also another customer whose account has been hacked via a data leak and charged 40 euro's for an EV in another country alltogether. It's been 5 weeks since i made the complaint with ChargePoint. They didn't inform me that its happened to other people. Had to call them twice to only hear: yeah we're working on it, no we cant tell you how long its gonna take. They just don't care thats obvious.

Go elsewhere
You pay a kWh fee, plus a session fee, plus a nasty fine if you don't move within half an hour of charge complete. And it didn't even charge at the stated rate of 22kwh. Just 7. Very nasty. Go elsewhere

I had money taken from my account by someone else charging their car on my details. I contacted them straight away with all the details and still have not been refunded the money. I will not be using them again

ChargePoint Auto-Reload Abuse – Users Have No Control!
I am extremely frustrated with how the ChargePoint app handles auto-reloads. The app auto-reloads my account, and each increase happens without my consent and without my control, so the amount keeps going up..
When I contacted support, the only answer I got was that they “can’t do anything.” They told me the reload is based on the average of the last three months of usage, so if I use more, the auto-reload goes up. When I asked if lowering my usage would reduce the auto-reload, they said no. This is extremely frustrating and a clear abuse, users have no control over their own accounts.
I specifically requested to set a fixed auto-reload amount of $50, but this request was denied, leaving me completely unable to control how much is being charged to my account.
This is completely unacceptable. Users should have control over their own accounts, and this lack of transparency and control feels like an abuse of the system.
I’m done with ChargePoint and will be switching to another provider like BC Hydro. I strongly recommend others do the same if they want control over their payments.

They take and retain £10
The two stars are for the fact that I did actually manage to charge my car at one of their chargers. However, my experience is indicative of the whole EV charging structure in the UK - too expensive ( and this was the lower end at 60p per KWH), yet another app and lastly and worse that any other app, they take a deposit and then retain that (£10).
I them tried to get the £10 back by charging again up to £10, but they then took another £10. I then emailed them for a refund which has not yet happened. I have now deleted my account, hoping that will generate the refund.
Avoid unless you are desperate.

Extremely Poor Security and Non-Existent Customer Support – Account Hacked!
I would give this company negative stars if I could. Avoid ChargePoint at all costs!
On March 9th around noon, while I was having lunch, I suddenly received two emails from ChargePoint notifying me of two top-ups of £43 each from my credit card. I was shocked because my car was parked right outside my house at the time—it was impossible for me to be charging.
Minutes later, another email arrived for a £40 top-up. Realising something was seriously wrong, I immediately contacted my credit card provider to report the fraud. Upon logging into my ChargePoint account, I discovered that two unknown vehicles were actively charging near London Heathrow Airport using my balance.
My account had clearly been compromised. I contacted ChargePoint's customer service immediately, and the agent claimed my case had been escalated to the "relevant department." Since then, there has been absolute radio silence. I have sent multiple follow-up emails demanding an update, but I have received zero response.
It is unacceptable that a company handling financial transactions has such weak security and even worse customer support. They don't seem to care about their customers being victims of fraud. Stay away!
My Case no. is 15669928
When I signed up to them and downloaded…
When I signed up to them and downloaded app nothing foreshadowed it. Till first payment, when initially $5 precharge was required. After that regular preliminary charge became traditional, but size of it increased and last one was $120. Everywhere they claimed and promised to refund unused advance ASAP, with obligatory reference to your bank in sense we cannot be responsible for its delay. Very soon I got seek and tired of EV driving and ask those guys to refund my balance, which was $105. I have asked them to give my money back on Feb. 17 or 18. Since then I am waiting, writing romantic letters to their people in Philippines or India and listening to the fairytales about their software problems they with all their might trying to solve. Ridiculous pack of crooks and thieves!

Completely unresponsive and incompetent.
There is a ChargePoint station near my apartments, and it's very close. Sure, it's in a parking garage that charges per hour, but it's convenient.
The first problem is that one of the two chargers was broken. It didn't charge. I reported it. They said, via email, "we fixed it." They didn't fix it, they just marked it as completely broken in the app. The cord, which was merely inoperable before, was physically cut. Was it ChargePoint? Probably not, probably some weird homeless person, but whatever.
Then, the clips that keep the chargers in the car were ALSO cut at the a similar time, so the chargers can't clip into the cars. As a result, some random jerk unplugged my car today, wasting 2+ hours of potential charging time.
I have reported this, AGAIN, but they clearly don't do even cursory inspections and do not care about, at least, this location.
So much time wasted having my car unplugged and also just not being able to get a charger because only 50% of them are even available at this location.

Shocking Service: A Total Short Circuit of Support.
After five years of loyalty, I’ve finally run out of juice. If you’re looking for a company that can actually conduct themselves professionally, keep driving—because this experience has been a total short circuit.
For 3 years, we’ve dealt with "on and off" issues that were fixed, but after extensive waits. But the current situation is the final straw. Three months ago Dec 2025), our IP address was blocked, and we’ve been stuck in neutral ever since. Despite eight emails and detailed photos of our IT configuration, their support remains completely grounded.
Their "help" is nothing but a series of low-voltage AI platitudes. After two months of silence, they had the audacity to ask if we’d tried "disconnecting the VPN." We don’t have a VPN. Asking that after sixty days of no questions for troubleshooting is a massive revolt against common sense.
Their support team is clearly overloaded—a fact they admit often in their emails—which means your concerns will just sit in a dead zone. Consider this a warning light on your dashboard: don't get plugged into this nightmare.
I’m moving on to a provider that actually has some spark. May the electron gods smile upon you, because this company certainly won’t.

ChargePoint charges my boys cards
ChargePoint charges my boys cards, 2 evs, an extra $50 everytime they charge and then refunds the money a couple days later. I am using Greenlight and trying to teach them to be responsible but CHARGEPOINT SUCKS! Its ridiculous. It costs $30 to get a full charge. Both my boys plan their miles and save their money accordingly. Then Chargepoint leaves them stranded at the pump everytime they dont have at least $100 in their account. Its ridiculous for them to put a hold on a card then keep your money and leave kids stranded. Horrifying experience when they are trying to travel outside the area especially. Big CHARGEPOINT SUCKS!! They deserve it!!

Can’t recommend there services. They would not help at all with a repair just out of warranty. ( 2 years ) Price for the part outrageously expensive. No one willing to work with us.

I have had Chargepoint for about 6…
I have had Chargepoint for about 6 weeks. It has been nothing but a problem.
History charging in public: When I charge in a public facility to 80% I get 200-204 miles.
Chargepoint home charger: in 6 weeks I have been able to get to that number once. It stops at 159, 188, or stops after 5 minutes.
Once I reached 204 I was over the moon. The next charge 179. Same charge time 12:00am to 6:am. Chargepoint claims they deliver 37 miles per hour. Using their math that means it should have delivered 222miles in 6 hours.
I’ll even be generous. If they delivered 25 miles in 6 hours that is 150. When my car is at 48% at 109 miles. That would put me at 259 miles. So something is wrong. I called Southern California Edison. Nothing g wrong on their end. Then the service guy at Chargepoint says maybe it’s your battery. Well, a week prior it had no trouble charging g to 204. If I go to a public place no problem charging to 204.
This is a company which has no customer service other than phone. Which I like, but the guy who got me to 204 asked me to reach him by email if I had further problems. Then I get an email. We do t support emails. Their Manuel only comes in French. How is that? You are selling g an expensive item in America where few are bilingual.
I would not purchase from Chargepoint. There are better companies out there.

Charged my car once. The next charge was by someone using my details and charging my bank and me paying for the service. Someone charging their car using my bank account from 100s of miles away! When I called, they hung up every time. Called back the next day and closed my account (they did refund me so worth the 1 star)
I feel this company takes your details and sells them on or uses them in some way to make more money. I have deleted all my details and will NEVER use this company again. Do NOT make the same mistake and never charge with them!
To Chargepoint - I wont be giving my email address on this public forum. I did receive a survey to complete at my email address, and its relating case #15610674 so i will use that to submit this and someone can come back to me from there. Thank you.

Would be zero if it could
Would be zero if it could.
Like many others I was charged over £110 for parking charges in another country.
Reading others reviews it is clear there was a data breach, and like others I was not made aware. I did not even have the app downloaded on my phone anymore!
Have contacted customer services but with no interaction, or resolve from them. Company clearly does not take fraud seriously.
Disgusting!

I tried to update my credit card and…
I tried to update my credit card and get an error message that I can't do that while in a session. I'm not in a charging session. I tried both the app and the website to no avail. The app wants to verify my account but no code is ever sent. No one answers the 24/7 customer service line after being on it for an hour. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app, but it didn't help. I can't reach anyone to fix this glitch.

Chargepoint takes money for nothing
Chargepoint takes money for nothing. They do not care if there are problems with the stations as long as they collect. Notify them and they ignore you.
Chargepoint wants me to publish my email in a review, before they will look into it?!
They are only willling to look into it now that I’ve gone public with my experience?!
If Chargepoint genuinely wants to look into it, how about supplying a method or means of referring to this review without publishing my personal email??

Useless
Useless - I wouldn't use them again. I was defrauded in November - it looks like someone hacked into my ChargePoint account - we were in the USA but someone in London accessed my account. I am out-of-pocket by £56. I have phoned ChargePoint on several occasions - they promise that they will refund the money but I am still waiting . . . Why is it taking so long? Like someone else, I would give ChargePoint NO stars. And emailing doesn't produce a response either. As I said at the start USELESS organisation. FINAL update (mid March) - my money has been refunded along with the balance on my account - nice email from ChargePoint to confirm repayment.

Reply received after 3 months
Second review as the company have just replied to my refund request and complaint after three months, off the back of charging me £136 for a 2kW session. I have received two emails, one saying a refund has been put through, and one saying my refund request has been rejected. Utterly useless company with awful support. Avoid avoid avoid!
