fix(op,minimald, mctx): report every missing patched-build dependency and answer --help

  • patched-build now falls back to the spec-hash cache entry when a transitive
runtime dependency has no name-keyed local build, and reports all missing
dependencies in one error instead of failing on the first.
  • min_patched_pkg now answers -h/--help with usage (exit 0) and rejects
missing or flag-like names with usage (exit 1) instead of treating them as
    package names.

Verification

  • cargo fmt --all --check: pass
  • cargo build -p op -p minimald --locked: pass
  • cargo test -p op patched: pass (2 tests)
  • cargo test -p minimald patched_build: pass (2 tests)
  • cargo clippy --workspace --locked -- -D warnings: fails only on pre-existing
    needless_borrows_for_generic_args lints in crates/args (repo pins 1.97.0;
sandbox runs stable 1.99.0 which adds this lint)

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • The patched-build command now provides usage information with -h or --help.
    • Patched builds can resolve runtime dependencies by package name or specification hash.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Invalid or missing package names now show the correct usage and return an error.
    • When runtime dependencies cannot be found, the build reports all missing packages together and suggests a command to build them.

…er --help

patched-build now falls back to the spec-hash cache entry when a
transitive runtime dependency has no name-keyed local build, and
reports every missing dependency in one error instead of failing on
the first.

min_patched_pkg now answers -h/--help with usage (exit 0) and rejects
missing or flag-like names with usage (exit 1) instead of treating
them as package names.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The patched-build helpers now handle help and invalid package arguments consistently. PatchedBuild::run now checks dependency cache entries by package name and spec hash, and reports all unresolved dependencies together.

Both helper scripts print usage and return success for -h and --help. They reject empty package names and arguments beginning with -. Tests check output, exit status, and that these cases make no RPC.

Patched-Build Dependency Resolution

Layer / File(s) Summary
Dependency cache lookup and error reporting
crates/op/src/patched.rs
PatchedBuild::run falls back to a spec-hash lookup when a package-name lookup fails. It collects unresolved dependencies and reports them together. Tests cover fallback lookup, missing dependencies, and successful resolution.

The change makes patched builds fall back to the spec-hash cache and report all missing dependencies together, and makes the helper print usage for help and invalid arguments. No merge-blocking risk was identified.

Log or preserve the by-name lookup error before the fallback.

The code discards both lookup errors with Err(_). Any error from unsafe_get_build_by_name or read_dir is reported as "needs local builds". This includes IO errors and cache corruption. The user then runs min package build, which does not fix the real cause. Add a tracing::debug! or tracing::warn! call for errors that are not CacheErr::NotFound. The condition is a non-NotFound error.

Addressed the CodeRabbit nitpick on crates/op/src/patched.rs (by-name / spec-hash lookup errors discarded) in a17db87: lookups that fail with anything other than CacheErr::NotFound are now logged via tracing::warn! before the dependency is treated as missing.

… remedy hint

Cover the multi-miss path with two absent deps, drop the 'min package build'
remedy that the mip sandbox helper refuses, refresh the PatchedBuild doc
comment, and separate the minimald test-module use block.

Approved: no findings at 0c1ca3947058.

Nothing to do.

Clobber: none: git log on patched.rs and the two shell scripts shows only this PR's three commits; nothing reverted.
