Unreliable, Untrustworthy Bait-and-Switch Operators
False advertising. They advertise the venues at a certain price but when you attempt to book they try to charge much more. After inputting all the details (date, no. of people, etc.) it gave me a price of £1675. This price was also the price given in the advert for the day of the week and number of people. However, after sending off the request to book the venue, they wrote back and without any explanation said the price was £2099. When I reluctantly said I wished to proceed, they then told me there was a mistake and the price is £2999.
Unknown to me at the time, a friend also enquired about the price of the venue and was told the price they were first given was wrong and it costs £1999. They just make up numbers as they go.
Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 strictly prohibit bait-and-switch advertising like this and engaging in such practices is a criminal offence. Tagvenue turn a blind eye to this and in doing so are condoning it.
I made a complaint to Tagvenue and they said the venue had to honour the price given on the website but the venue refused and nothing happened and the advert continued unchanged.

An important note on how pricing is shown: venue listings often display a "from" price plus a hire fee and a per-person rate, so the figure you first see could be a starting point rather than a fixed total. The final quote could depend on the hours and guest numbers for your specific event, which is why it can come out higher than the headline number.
We've gone back through your conversation with the venue and can see that the venue replied within two hours explaining why the figure would change depending on guest numbers and your requirements. We've since spoken with both you and the venue directly, identified where the original pricing information caused confusion, and – to be clear – the venue listing is now fully up to date and accurate.
Our role as a marketplace is to keep this fair and to make it clear what a venue costs and how to book it. We've escalated your feedback internally and will use it to improve the way pricing is shown, so there's no room for doubt when choosing a venue. Under our Terms & Conditions, venues are responsible for the accuracy of their prices, and we always follow up whenever a quote doesn't line up with what's published.
As a tip for next time: we'd always encourage enquiring with a couple of venues and comparing the offers, so you can choose the option that fits you best. CONFIRMATION OF A BOOKING IS NOT A BOOKING!!!!!!!
They confirmed the booking, took my money, so I confirmed the meeting with my client and the next day the actual venue contacted me and said the room was not available!!! The venue said a booking is not actually confirmed until you hear from the actual venue but NOWHERE does it say that on Tagvenue's website. DONT USE THEM without knowing this. It is appalling.

Highly recommend
Tagvenue was amazing for finding a venue for a last minute function. The information on the website allowed me to select venues which met my criteria and contact them.
I had also tried another website, and this website did not allow you to see which venues your details were passed onto, and none of the venues actually met my criteria and were all way out of my budget.
I would highly recommend Tagvenue and look forward to using them again in the future.

Most convoluted…
This has got to be the most convoluted method to book, confirm a booking, add CC details ever!!! Its ridiculous the amount of emails, expired links, and clicks you need to do for 1 restaurant booking. Even to leave a review you need to sign up! ffs
