A Choice Insurance Avis 

​Close Brothers Premium Finance sends letters stating: "If you are experiencing financial difficulties, we are here to help." When I ended up in hospital, I took this advice, called Close Brothers, and explained my situation. Their team was empathetic and helped me set up a new, official payment plan scheduled for the 22nd of the month.
​However, despite this agreement—which was registered in the system—A Choice went ahead and cancelled my insurance policy on the 21st, just one day before my agreed payment date!
​When I discovered the cancellation, I contacted Close Brothers first. They confirmed that everything was properly set up on their end, but explained that A Choice had already issued the cancellation instruction.
​I then spent over an hour on the phone with A Choice customer service. The representative checked the system, saw the error, and spent an hour trying to fix and reverse the cancellation with underwriters. In the end, all I got was: "Sorry, it’s too late, there’s nothing we can do."
​To make matters worse:
​Instead of fixing their mistake, A Choice simply offered me a brand-new 12-month policy, requiring a fresh upfront deposit.
​When I asked about my No Claims Discount (NCD), they bluntly told me it was lost/forfeited because the full 12 months weren't completed—entirely due to their premature cancellation!
​As a result:
​My vehicle was left uninsured while I was recovering from health issues.
​I was robbed of completing my term and lost a full year's NCD.
​I was forced to spend extra money out of pocket for alternative insurance.
​While Close Brothers actually offered support, A Choice proved to be completely incompetent, leaving a vulnerable customer paying the price for their broker error. I have submitted a formal complaint and will take this straight to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).
​Avoid A Choice if you value peace of mind and your hard-earned NCD.

Absolute disgusting company who are ripping off new drivers! My son cancelled the policy within the 14 days that it says on the website so should receive a full refund. They also asked for the black box to be returned to receive £40 back. My son has done both of these, never received any sort of refund and had received another bill for £34. He has questioned this with the company who said they would look into this and get back to him. 2 weeks later still heard nothing but then received a threatening letter that unless he pays we will have the bailiffs around! This shows the company doesn’t even speak to each other! Absolute garbage company who threaten and steal money from first time drivers - AVOID AT ALL COST!
