I would strongly recommend avoiding this company.
When I broke down on a French motorway, I called their “emergency” line for assistance. I waited around 15 minutes before someone even answered, only to be told that they couldn’t recover me and that I needed to contact the French authorities because of the rules surrounding French motorways.
I followed their instructions and had my vehicle recovered, paying the cost myself.
When I subsequently submitted a claim to recover the money, the response was slow and, despite the fact that I had contacted them first and followed their instructions, they refused to pay because I had used a third-party recovery service.
So essentially, I was told by the company that they could not legally recover me and that I had to use the French authorities/recovery service — and then they used the fact that I had used a third party as the reason to reject my claim.
The communication throughout the claims process was also extremely poor, with emails that were difficult to understand and lacked basic punctuation and professionalism.
I am now having to formally complain and challenge their decision.
For a breakdown company, being left in this position when stranded abroad is completely unacceptable. I wish I had paid more and gone with a more established provider such as the RAC or AA.
Think twice before buying this cover.

We understand how frustrating it must have been to have to arrange and pay for recovery yourself. We would, however, like to clarify that there are specific rules governing breakdowns on French motorways. Under French regulations, vehicles that break down on motorways must be attended to and recovered by the authorised French motorway recovery services. This means that, in these circumstances, we are not legally permitted to send our own recovery provider directly to the vehicle.
We appreciate that this distinction may not have been sufficiently clear at the time and understand how frustrating it would have been to then encounter difficulties with the subsequent claim. We are also sorry that you felt the communication during the claims process was unclear or fell short of the professional standard you should expect from us.
We take your concerns regarding the handling of your claim seriously and would welcome the opportunity to review the circumstances in full, including the advice provided when you first contacted us and the subsequent claim decision.
Please send your policy details to info@govivid.co.uk. Once we have your policy details, we can raise a complaint on your behalf and request that our Claims Complaints Team fully investigate the matter further.
We apologise for the distress and inconvenience caused and appreciate you bringing your experience to our attention.

wouldnt even give 1 star. took out a policy costing over £50. to be told they dont do breakdowns the only offer jumpstart or recovery and if wanted recovery i would then have to pay extra. a breakdown company that apparantly technicians if you can call them that dont carry basic tools to repair! Having looked into your case, the claim was declined because it fell within the 24-hour waiting period from the policy start date, which meant a valid claim couldn't be made at that time. I appreciate that isn't what you wanted to hear, especially if you weren't aware this applied.
In relation to repairs, our roadside recovery operators do not have access to a workshop environment or the same diagnostic equipment available at a garage. As a result, while we may be able to resolve some minor issues at the roadside, other faults may require your vehicle to be recovered to a suitable repair location.
Our records show that you spoke with one of our agents today, and your policy has since been cancelled and refunded.
