Capalo AI has officially entered Romania 🔋⚡🇷🇴 We are now registered as a Balance Responsible Party (BRP/PRE) with Romanian transmission system operator Transelectrica, and with our supply license already in place, we can bring our full market access and optimization capabilities to energy asset owners in Romania, a major growth market for Capalo AI. With a strong and expanding local team on the ground we will focus on both standalone BESS and hybrid multi-market optimization. Optimizing hybrid and co-located PV and BESS assets together requires a different approach from standalone battery trading, combining renewable production, storage flexibility, market positions, and imbalance exposure within a single strategy. Europe doesn't have a talent problem in spacetech. It has a capital, demand and policy problem. That was the consensus this morning, and I couldn't have asked for better company on stage. Thank you, Fiona Alston, for steering such a sharp conversation, and Viktoras Jucikas and Marius Klimavičius for bringing real depth from the investor and founder side. We discussed why space is becoming Europe's resilience infrastructure, how defence budgets act as a new anchor to spacetech, which in turn is pulling investor interest into the sector, and the structural disadvantages we still need to overcome. If we want European spacetech to stay European, we need growth capital that doesn't force founders to look across the Atlantic, establish clearer picture of the customers willing to buy, and clear policy to back both. Tomorrow I'm heading to Startup Fair for another discussion, this time with Mårten Skogö and Roberts Ernests Levics, on VC sourcing in the age of AI - and I don't want to spoil it, so come and join the discussion. Satellite ground infrastructure is getting a major upgrade!! 📡 📡 While LEO satellites collect huge amounts of data, getting that data back to Earth is a different story. Currently, it can take around an hour, at speeds of 1-2 Gbps. Skynopy and Eutelsat are setting out to change that with Global AKAR. Announced at the International Space Summit in Paris hosted by President Emmanuel Macron, Global AKAR combines Eutelsat’s global ground network with Skynopy’s software. By the end of 2029, they will scale to 100+ antennas worldwide as Skynopy taps into unused capacity across Eutelsat’s existing ground network, bringing satellite data back to Earth in under three minutes at speeds of up to 10 Gbps. Enough to download up to 5x more imagery. For companies building earth observation, orbital data centres and in-orbit services, this means faster access to satellite data through a global network, without having to build and run the ground infrastructure themselves. 🚀 For Skynopy, it is another major step in a remarkable first three years, during which Pierre, Antonin and the team have built a network across five continents and won customers including Airbus Defence and Space!! Apparently we’re sharing our biggest flexes, so here’s mine... Mine isn’t just one achievement. It’s the fact that a pretty unlikely series of events somehow led me here. I went from working on the Higgs Boson team at CERN, to developing an algorithm because I couldn’t find a birth control option that worked for me, to turning that algorithm into Natural Cycles with my husband and co-founder, Raoul Scherwitzl. What started as a personal problem has grown into a company used by millions of people around the world & we’re still just getting started. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built, but even more excited about what’s ahead: continuing to bring more science, data & innovation to women’s health. And yes, somewhere along the way I also became a mom of two 💜 Not a bad flex.
