FetLife has been one of the most frustrating customer support experiences I’ve ever had.

I reported an account that scammed me out of money. I was told the account had been locked and action had been taken, yet the account was actively messaging me while I was receiving those emails. When I pointed out the contradiction with evidence, my emails suddenly stopped getting responses. I had already had to request a different support representative because my original concerns weren’t being addressed.

From my experience, it feels like scammers are allowed to continue operating while the people reporting them are left chasing support for answers. I wasn’t looking for special treatment—I just wanted honesty, consistency, and for the report to be taken seriously.

If this is how safety reports are handled, that’s deeply disappointing. Users deserve better communication and better protection than what I experienced.

Do better, FetLife.

My time on FetLife wasn't terrible, but it definitely didn't feel natural. The same users always seemed to be online, no matter when I logged in, and that eventually became a major red flag.

After that, I tried PrimeDating.org. Being able to launch a live video call immediately gave me much more peace of mind. They also organize dating festivals and offline events where

well after my last issue with fetlife, I was somehow allowed to have my second account. After a single week both my accounts were locked.

For having multiple accounts.

I guess its my own fault because it happened 2 minutes after I posted in a reply to a user group thread, that my previous accounts had been hacked.

This time its a two week lock out.

Thust giving me a total of 5 monthsor more combined timeouts on fetlife this year.

I am a supporting member and have used the site on and off for several years.

Overall, I very much enjoy the function of the site. No site/network will ever be perfect, and this one certainly has room for functional improvement, but all in all I very much enjoy my time.

The biggest failing of the site is the TOU and mods/caretakers, who are EXTREMELY ideologically biased, heavy handed, and persecutorial; express one sentiment they disagree with, even if you haven't violated the TOU, and they will either directly edit your profile without notice, or slap you with timeouts and bans.

Try to communicate with them about this activity and youll either be met with denial/obfuscation or they'll just completely ignore you and never respond. To call them "piss poor" would be too kind, they're in dire need of a culture change... one that doesn't punish, opress, harass, or silence opinions that don't comply with their own very narrow worldview.

I know from reading the other reviews here that, if im lucky, they'll respond with feigned apologies/interest... and ask me to email them about my concerns; over the years I've never had any genuine help come from either their support deprtament or their caretaker department... and I've reached out with messages to both...crickets.

They simply want to appear to be working towards amelioration, on Trustpilot, but in reality they have zero interest in it whatsoever.

This site allows ageism to run rampant. They promote and allow age-gated events like the TNG Munches that only protect the vanity of anyone under 35. This site is harmful and is a disservice to kink as a whole. We deserve better.

Call it what you want. I call it blackmail.

I was told my account could be restored if I removed publicly available information from a Change.org petition hosted on a third-party website.

When access to an account is conditioned on changing lawful off-platform speech, that raises serious concerns about censorship, transparency, and accountability.

This site is a joke they let people with domestic violence and be drug on this and if you report they won't ban them and they let people spread stds on there

I understand FetLife wants to force people into a kinky community but literally less than 10% of your users are there for that. Nobody wanted a kinky fb where everyone posts pictures of nasty bits. In 10 years the platform hasnt changed or improved its userface, you cant filter, like just give the people what they want. Nobody wants to sort through 30k users in one city or only be able to search by username. What a joke.

I have had an account a long time ago and really enjoyed it, we are probably talking 10 or more years ago now. I have signed up to FetLife again at the end of March 2026 and have found that there are literally hundreds of profiles that havent been online for years and years. Making the profile was fun, especially adding the kinks etc. but with that many abandoned accounts around it's not really worth keeping your own account open after that. It's a shame really considering it was thriving years ago. Also, for a kink website, it has a huge amount of vanilla content and seems to be full of your typical adult selfies and onlyfans links nowadays. It is likely the members have moved to other sites/apps as some of them really are thriving now. Very nearly paid the membership for FetLife this time but wouldnt have gained anything from doing so! It's a shame to see this website fall so far!

1. Gezielte Betrugsmaschen: Die Seite ist überflutet mit Fake-Profilen und Bots, die nur ein Ziel haben: Nutzer in teure Abofallen zu locken oder direkt Geld zu erpressen. Warnungen vor diesen Betrügern werden von den Betreibern ignoriert.
2. Kein Nutzer-Schutz: FetLife schmückt sich damit, eine „Community“ zu sein, aber sobald es um Sicherheit geht, wird man allein gelassen. Es gibt keinen effektiven Support, der gegen gemeldete Scammer vorgeht. Man bekommt das Gefühl, dass diese Profile sogar geduldet werden, solange der Traffic auf der Seite stimmt.
3. Zensur von Warnungen: Es ist extrem auffällig, wie schwer es gemacht wird, andere Mitglieder effektiv vor Betrügern zu warnen. Kritische Stimmen werden oft mundtot gemacht oder in den Algorithmen versteckt, während die „VIP-Abos“ aggressiv beworben werden.
4. Gefährliches Umfeld: Dass eine so große Plattform es zulässt, dass kriminelle Machenschaften (von Fake-Events bis hin zu Identitätsdiebstahl) so offen stattfinden können, ist absolut unverantwortlich.
Fazit: Hände weg von dieser Seite! Es ist kein sicherer Ort für Kinkster, sondern eine Goldgrube für Betrüger, die das Vertrauen der Menschen ausnutzen. Nach meinen Erfahrungen kann ich nur jedem raten: Sucht euch Alternativen, die ihre Mitglieder wirklich schützen.

Trans moderators are falsely accusing me of hate speech and putting my account in endless timeouts.

"please explain why this keeps getting me timeouts" is NOT hateful conduct. They wont explain why because they can't explain what was hateful.

One of them went into my DMs and started harassing people who has messaged and threatened to expose them to their co-workers. DO NOT TRUST FETLIFE

I contacted FetLife caretakers on March 28, 2026 because I had recently been hired to promote private lifestyle events. My account was less than 3 months old, so I asked specifically about the rules for posting events and mentioned the 3-month promotional activity restriction.

The caretaker (Charli) responded with guidance that included this clarification:

“We don't consider posting events to be promotion. We consider promotion to be posting links to OnlyFans, Fansly, content selling etc. Charging a fee to have an event does not fall under this guideline.”

I followed this advice and continued posting events. However, my account has now been locked.

I do not know the exact reason for this lock, as no clear explanation was provided. What makes this especially frustrating is that I was given explicit guidance that posting events (even with a venue fee) was allowed, only to have the account locked shortly afterward.

This kind of inconsistent moderation makes it very difficult for legitimate event organizers to use the platform.

If the “powers that be” on FetLife don’t like your profile, they will close it down for three days and remove or change your things.
This happened to me, so I extended the courtesy by deleting my profile after being on there for four years.

Fetlife has recently rolled out a new “public events” feature that, in my opinion, exposes members of the site to undue increased risk of outing and does so without sufficient information to allow users to exercise informed consent. I consider this dangerous and unethical.

When I spoke out against this and tried to work with other users to mitigate the risks, my account was restricted - my post and activity no longer show in the feeds of my friends or followers.

Fetlife has not followed its own stated policies and procedures in implementing this action. No notice or explanation was given, the duration of my silencing is unknown.

When you follow the rules, but threaten the bottom line through effective safety communication, they take away your voice. If their actions were defensible, they would not need to silence me to sustain them.

Where are all the Fetishes and Fantasies that are not related to porn or naked women? Seriously I am more grossed out on there than I could ever be by PornHub and XVideo combined. I have never met anybody from off of FF and dont think I want to so many confused people in general, they claim they are looking for this, but in al actuality its something else entirely. Creeps galore, but when you dress like Halloween the Ghosts and Ghouls will come out to play. I have gone on that website there for Leather, PVC, Spanking, Canning and Cross dressing, but all I see is T,A and Pink. The website does not live up to its name as it falls short on Fetishes and Lifestyle.
