I instructed Shahban/Albright Kendrick in September 2024 because of the urgency of stopping the repossession of my late mother’s home. This was already a highly stressful and time-sensitive matter. Instead of feeling supported, I have been left under constant pressure, without proper information, and facing shifting and unexplained demands for payment.
They are nightmare of a law firm run by a non-solicitor - Stuart Basson who claims to be supervised by a solicitor but most of the time is not.

Lack of invoices and cost breakdowns, Unprofessional communication, these were inappropriate and unhelpful in the context of a serious and urgent legal case.

I have been dealing with law firms for over 20 years and have never encountered conduct as unprofessional, evasive, and frankly dishonest as I have from Shahban Solicitors (now known as Albright Kendrick Law Ltd).

I had a written agreement from their representative, Stuart Basson, confirming a 10% commission on referrals I made to the firm. My referrals generated significant fees, yet the firm has refused to pay what is owed, instead issuing contradictory and false claims – including the absurd assertion that “no profit” was made and therefore no commission was due. This was never part of the agreement and is completely irrelevant.

Over months of chasing (from May 2024 onwards), I sent multiple polite and reasonable requests for updates. These were routinely ignored or met with delay tactics, misleading statements, and outright falsehoods. Management repeatedly promised “substantive replies” that never arrived. I was even told by the firm’s director that he “would not cower to my threats” – when all I had done was request payment in line with a written contract.

In addition, they reneged on an agreed pro bono instruction for a property matter, causing serious delay and potential financial loss. The excuse given – “capacity issues” – was unbelievable for a firm of their size, especially as they were taking on other work from my own referrals during the same period.

The level of evasion, blame-shifting, and arrogance I have experienced is extraordinary. Basic client care, honesty, and professional courtesy appear to be entirely absent. In my opinion, this is a firm that should be avoided at all costs.

I have since sued this firm in the County Court. They failed to respond to the summons, and judgment in my favour has been entered by default. This, to me, speaks volumes about their attitude towards accountability and their clients.

I am also pursuing formal complaints with the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Legal Ombudsman.

My advice: If you value your time, money, and sanity, do not use this firm.

Sadly, a defective service. No engagement letter, no receipts for the money transferred, no customer care and no information about the progress of their communications with Counsel. The solicitor responsible for my cases was under a restricted practising certificate by SRA which had not been disclosed to me, charged me £ 1080 for reading 600 pages of documents and £ 1080 for 'Research Counsels' without a prior discussion and instruction and then failed to organise a suitable Counsel for a tribunal hearing in a timely manner. I started receiving emails from her after midnight and requests for more money. When I drafted a letter of engagement with specific instructions and timelines for the completion of the work, she refused to sign it whilst simultaneously using more money I had deposited. I could not rely on them and they impacted negatively on my health and well-being.
