The staff were very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. The customer service I received from my first visit choosing the product to my second visit for fitting the device was excellent. I can highly recommend the Andover Branch of Halfords.

I ordered something over a week ago and still not received rang customer service x 2 and now received email there looking into it may take up to 7 days to find out whats happened ?? Absolutely ridiculous in this day and age of smart tec so still waiting i will not be a returning customer

HALFORDS SOUTHAMPTON SOLD WRONG BATTERY & REFUSED WARRANTY -

On 12/01/2025 Halfords Southampton fitted WRONG battery type EFB (HB027) to my 2019 VW Arteon My car requires AGM 60Ah ONLY (Part No: 5WA915105C) as per VW handbook because it has Brake Energy Recovery.

After 4 months with wrong battery:
• White corrosion/acid leak on terminals
• 4 seconds slow crank every morning
• Gearbox jerking / DSG fault
• Dashboard shows "Start-Stop Deactivated" every morning (proof of low voltage)

Today 07/09/2026 I found the CORRECT battery AGM027 IN STOCK on their shelf for £185 (photo attached) but manager REFUSED to replace under warranty. He said "even if you buy it we will not fit it".

They have the correct part in stock and they choose to sell the wrong cheap one to customers.

I have now reported this branch to:
1. Halfords Head Office Complaints
2. Citizens Advice / Trading Standards
3. The Motor Ombudsman

I have kept all photos, videos and invoices. If any damage happens to my alternator, starter or gearbox due to this wrong EFB battery, I will hold Halfords Southampton fully liable for repair costs.

DO NOT TRUST THIS BRANCH WITH MODERN CARS.

Went to Halfords to buy a roadside emergency kit for a family member who is turning 17. Found the perfect item and the staff were very helpful

Worst experience from a retailer. I purchased a reverse camera inside the shop. They have told me there is no fitting available for it, as my van doesn't have a back window. I looked online and they got mobile fitting; tried to make a booking by calling them, but they end up saying I should've done the booking online after purchasing the item from the online store and they are unable to assists me as I purchased it from the store and I should go to the store for fitting.
Went to multiple Halfords branches; all of them where incapable to fit the reverse camera they are selling. Went back onto calling the customer service, they put me to talk with different departments and all departments where just taking me into a loop without an ending, just pointing to a different department over and over again, switching them. I got to the mobile fitting department for the 4th time in two weeks and I ended up with one of their staff members which it seemed that he just came out from the caves; he kept making stupid noise that sounded like: "WOAOWAOWAOWAOWAOWA" after every phrase that I was telling him. He put me again to the same department as his colleagues, where a lady answered and after explaining her the issue and what I am looking for she asked me: " What do I need"; I explained her again and she asked me again: "what do you need"; I ended up explaining her 4 times the same thing. Incompetents.
And to mention my first experience with them, they wanted to charge me 1700£ for disc and brake pads fit and purchase.
If you know another car retailer, go for it. Those people should be avoided. 90% of them, a bunch of monkeys that have no idea what they are doing and they just call their colleague.

The staff are friendly, especially 'Ghost'. Very knowledgeable. And will put the items into the car for you. Great range of items for Motorbikes and cars and camping. Nice store.
