Features
Filestore offers high throughput and IOPS as well as low latency storage operations for workloads such as high performance computing, electronic design automation, media rendering, data analytics, or other metadata intensive applications. Scale up or down IOPS as needed without having to affect capacity. Filestore supports capacity up to 100 TiB and throughput of 26 GiB/s and 920K IOPS.
Filestore Regional is built for critical applications (for example, SAP) requiring regional availability to ensure resiliency to zonal outages. Both Filestore Zonal and Regional offer non-disruptive upgrades to increase availability. Avoid the need to rewrite your enterprise applications and jumpstart your migration to the cloud. Leverage the flexibility of Filestore to optimize performance to the specific needs of your individual workloads.
Filestore offers instantaneous snapshots and backups to help you protect your data easily. Backup your file share, set up a regular backup schedule, or take snapshots of your instances anytime you need. For additional protection, replicate your data to another instance in a different region. When it comes to recovering your data, recover some or all of your data from a prior snapshot recovery point in 10 minutes or less.
For apps running in GKE that require file storage, Filestore’s fully managed NFS solution supports stateful and stateless applications. With an integrated and managed GKE Container Storage Interface (CSI) driver, multiple pods can have shared file system access to the same data. This shared access can lower costs by avoiding multiple copies of the same data for each container. It can increase availability, with fast failover of pods between nodes, and flexibly share performance across multiple shares.
Filestore Zonal and Filestore Regional are VMware-certified as NFS datastores with Google Cloud VMware Engine. Right-size vCPUs and storage capacity independently to meet compute and storage requirements for your storage intensive VMs. Leverage vSAN for low latency VM requirements and scale Filestore from TBs to PBs for the capacity-hungry VMs.
