Stuart Davis shared thisI was quoted today in the Globe and Mail on PAD fraud. What is PAD fraud you might ask? It is a pre authorized debit mostly using a third party funding source to pay down a credit card held at another institution. In Canada, confirmation of true ownership is challenging between banks as certain methods are being banned (screen scraping of the other bank after login) and the 90 day charge back / dispute period creates significant uncertainty the funds are good at the receiving bank. This is challenging for the consumer who is acting legitimately top pay their bills. The ability to verify accounts between banks is expected to improve under the Consumer-Driven Banking Act (CDBA) and hopefully the dispute period will be reduced as the payment rails are modernized. https://lnkd.in/gY6ScYSeBMO’s auto-pay policy may help limit fraud but could also lead to missed payments, experts warnBMO’s auto-pay policy may help limit fraud but could also lead to missed payments, experts warn

Stuart Davis reposted thisMassive congratulations Jane and all of us who were contributors to both chapters of “Global Lessons for Stablecoin Regulation and Governance” it is a genuinely timely contribution. Stablecoins have moved from “innovation” to infrastructure, and your framing lands perfectly: when digital money begins to operate at systemic scale, governance can’t be an afterthought , it has to be designed, enforceable, and workable in supervision and in code. A huge shout-out as well to the pro bono contributors to the Draft Commonwealth Model Law on Stablecoins many of whom were lead contributors to chapters in these academic publications . Kudos to this team who have tirelessly kept showing up for the greater good for humanity. You’ve all pushed through the unglamorous work: the late-night cross-referencing, the technical rabbit holes, the legal precision, the standard-setter alignment, the redrafts, the debates and the unwavering commitment to building something jurisdictions can actually adopt. Dr Jane Thomason you especially get a global peace prize equivalent for getting us “newbies” through the internal hell of book publishing navigation. The frustrations , they were definitely real! Now that our words will echo through the Library of Congress 🇺🇸the British Library 🇬🇧, and libraries across globally respected universities, the work stands as part of the enduring record. We’re not just commenting on the space ,we’re helping define it. I’m deeply grateful to be surrounded by extraordinary people doing world changing work for the financial freedom and democratisation of money in 2026. We walk the walk and talk the talk and this publication is another milestone in building real, implementable “source of truth” frameworks for stablecoin regulation and governance. Finally, vale Lord Meghnad Desai, in loving memory. A fearless intellect and a generous guide whose belief in practical reform and the public good continues to inspire this work. They are now embedded in payments, remittances, decentralised finance, humanitarian aid, and emerging models of programmable money. With that shift comes a new reality: stablecoins are becoming financial and governance infrastructure. I’m pleased to share that Global Lessons for Stablecoin Regulation and Governance, published by IGI Global, is released today. This volume brings together global perspectives from regulators, central bank practitioners, legal scholars, technologists, economists, and fintech founders to examine a central question: How should digital money be governed once it begins to operate at systemic scale? The book explores: • Technical and economic taxonomies of stablecoins and CBDCs • Financial stability and “too big to fail” risks • Translating law into supervisory practice • Stablecoins as public-interest infrastructure, including remittances, humanitarian aid, and digital identity • Designing trust in digital money through interdisciplinary governance • The evolution of payments from Payments 1.0 to 5.0 • National case studies, including Nigeria, with global lessons • Innovation-enabling regulatory approaches and special jurisdictions Rather than advocating a single regulatory model, the book synthesises global lessons to support policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, and technologists navigating the transition from innovation to infrastructure. As digital money becomes programmable, governance is increasingly embedded directly into code. This makes regulatory design, institutional accountability, and cross-border coordination more important than ever. Global Lessons for Stablecoin Regulation and Governance is intended as a practical contribution to that global conversation. #Stablecoins #DigitalMoney #FinancialRegulation #Payments #Blockchain #CBDC #ProgrammableMoney #FinancialStability #Policy #Governance

Stuart Davis shared thisGreat to be part of such distiguished global team at a time when stablecoins are forefront of the regulatory agenda and on the lips of banking CEOs. The model law is a foundational document that countries can adopt and tailor to their specific regimes. I think the Commonwealth Model Law on Stablecoins sets a new benchmark and brings the right approach to many complex regulatory considerations that are not even contemplated in the current legislation being tabled. Keep your eyes open for the upcoming release. #stablecoins #bankofcanada #OSFI #commonwealthStuart Davis shared thisThis Is the biggest shoutout to all the expert contributors who generously gave their time and insight to The Commonwealth secretariat in developing the draft Commonwealth Model Law on Stablecoins — thank you. It is great to see #FATF help push the focus on tracking the illicit financing of Online Child Sexual Exploitation. A special thanks to Elisa de Anda Madrazo, President (Mexico) and Jeremy Weil, VP (Canada) of FATF for the focus on this. Also a call out to all of those individuals who were bold in starting this PPP in 2020 when we launched of Project Shadow and who have also joined in the related work of the #WeProtectGlobalAlliance and #TheKnoble Project Umbra. Stuart Davis liked thisIncredibly grateful for Summit Partners' investment, experience and their shared belief in the vision that has guided Quantifind for 15 years: Disruptive AI technology transforms the battle against financial crimes and foreign threats. Unlike nested rules-based systems or simple agents sitting on top of run-time foundational models - our platform provides best in class accuracy for discovering risk, while providing scale at the size of enterprise, speed at the at the pace of payments, and explainability at the depth of regulators. An AI solution for AML/KYC, sanctions and vendor vetting, with Accuracy, Scale, Speed and Explainability - all at the same time. ... And now with the partnership of Summit Partners joining Citi Ventures, Deloitte Ventures, S&P Global, DNS Capital, Stephens Group and Archer Capital, we expand, build and bring our solutions more broadly around the globe. The team at Quantifind has been stalwart in the journey thus far - and continues to invent and execute at levels that are downright inspiring. It's surreal to think we're just getting started. Money settles instantly and across borders, illicit networks reorganize quickly and bad actors are increasingly turning AI toward fraud, money laundering and sanctions evasion. The institutions fighting back — major banks, fintechs and government agencies — need systems that can match that pace while satisfying regulators who require precision, explainability and a clear audit trail. Quantifind's Graphyte™ platform is purpose-built to address these needs, and we look forward to partnering with CEO Ari Tuchman and the entire Quantifind team as they extend their global reach and continue advancing trusted AI infrastructure for regulated risk environments. Stuart Davis liked thisStuart Davis liked thisI am deeply humbled and honored to be appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). When I founded Quantexa, the goal was simple: to help organizations make better decisions by unlocking the value in their data. What began as an idea has grown into a global business driven by a shared belief that better information leads to better outcomes. This recognition is not mine alone. It reflects the dedication, ingenuity, and ambition of the extraordinary Quantexans - past and present - who have worked tirelessly to solve complex challenges and build a company that is making a real impact around the world. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to His Majesty the King and the Honours Committee for this recognition. Above all, I am thankful to my family, friends, mentors, colleagues, partners, customers and investors, whose encouragement, guidance, and unwavering support have made this journey possible. The UK remains one of the world’s great centres of innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology. I am proud to be part of that story and remain committed to helping organizations harness trusted data, analytics and AI to drive growth, resilience, and positive societal impact. Stuart Davis liked thisStuart Davis liked thisHow to Fight Back Against Imposter Syndrome Imposter Syndrome is one of the most common, yet rarely discussed challenges high achievers face. It’s a persistent feeling that you’re a fraud. You don’t truly deserve your success. There’s an unrelenting fear that one day people will “find you out.” Even when you have the requisite skills, experience, and results to back up your position, the inner voice says otherwise. It creates anxiety, self-doubt, and constant rumination. The cruel irony? While you’re secretly doubting yourself, your boss and colleagues often see you as competent and valuable. Imposter Syndrome doesn’t mean you’re actually an imposter. It usually means you’re ambitious, conscientious, and pushing your limits. The exact qualities that got you this far. You don’t have to eliminate the feeling entirely. You just need to stop letting it run the show. Keep in mind that you are not a fraud. You are a work in progress, and that’s exactly where real growth happens. Imposter Syndrome tends to hit perfectionists, high achievers. Especially people who tie their self-worth to performance. The more successful you become, the louder it can get. But there is good news: you can fight back. Here are practical ways to quiet that voice. Don’t fight it or feel ashamed. Acknowledging it prevents the thought from controlling you and is the first step toward weakening its power. Collect evidence of all your wins. Keep a running list of your successes, projects delivered, positive feedback, problems solved, and goals achieved. When the doubt hits, review it. Stack your successes higher than your mistakes. Most people do the opposite, they minimize wins and magnify failures. Be kind, patient, and non-judgmental when you stumble. Instead of “I’m not good enough,” try: “I feel this way because I’m stretching myself , that’s growth.” “I don’t have to be perfect. I just need to be present and keep learning.” Tell a trusted colleague or mentor how you’re feeling. You’ll quickly discover you’re not alone. Almost everyone, even the most successful people, experience imposter syndrome at times. Shift your focus from “Do I deserve to be here?” to “How can I add value today?” Progress and effort matter more than flawless performance. To make yourself feel better, start comparing yourself to the many losers and jerks who surround you all day at work. You’ll feel smarter.

Stuart Davis liked thisStuart Davis liked thisI spent yesterday evening at OneEleven for the latest Financial Technology Frontiers Hi2AI session. It was a refreshing change of pace to be in a room where the conversation skipped the usual AI hype and focused on the actual mechanics of governance and security. The panel, featuring Stuart Davis of Surpass Insights Inc. and Guy Charpentier from Mastercard, hit on a major shift happening right now. We are moving away from AI "copilots" that just offer suggestions and into the era of agentic AI systems that can actually execute tasks on their own. While my work at Discrepancy AI is focused on property rather than banking, the core challenge discussed by Babu Nair and Vijesh Vijayan is exactly the same. When you give an AI the power to act, the risk moves from "what if it says something wrong" to "what if it does something it shouldn't." I went to this event specifically to see how the financial sector is handling AI accountability and institutional defense. It was a great gut check for our own approach. One of the biggest takeaways was that "machine-speed" operations demand "machine-speed" governance. This reinforced why we built a zero-trust layer into Discrepancy AI from day one. We believe an AI agent should be treated like any other contractor. If you hire someone to fix a leak in a building, you give them the key to the utility room, not the master key to every tenant’s apartment. We applied that same logic to our architecture. Our agents only ever have access to the specific data required for the task at hand. They never see info they shouldn't, which keeps the system secure and ensures the property manager stays in total control. As Deloitte and KPMG have recently noted, the rise in AI-enabled fraud is a massive looming threat. In property management, trust is our most valuable currency. If you aren't building with a security-first mindset, you aren't building for the future. Thank you to Babu Nair, Vijesh Vijayan, and Narasimham Nittala for hosting a session that tackled the difficult questions of how we scale these systems responsibly. #AI #PropertyManagement #DiscrepancyAI #AgenticAI #CyberSecurity #TorontoTech #OneEleven #Fintech #Hi2AI

Attention RWA Founders, Blockchain Developers, and Investors! 📢 Canada is officially examining how tokenized products intersect with securities regulations through the CSA's Project Tokenization (CSA being the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) - Autorités canadiennes en valeurs mobilières (ACVM)). This is a prime opportunity for stakeholders to help shape the regulatory framework that will govern our industry. At Asset List, we act as the ecosystem glue, connecting vetted providers with investors who need trustworthy transparent information to make informed decisions. Initiatives like this are vital for creating the transparency and trust required for global fractional asset growth. Don’t miss the chance to have your voice heard. Check the original post below to visit the Project Tokenization page and complete your expression of interest (for all relevant parties). ℹ️ Thanks to the Alberta Securities Commission and Dr. Ryan Clements, Chair of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) - Autorités canadiennes en valeurs mobilières (ACVM) for bringing this to our attention. 🙏 #FintechNews #RWA #CanadaBusiness #Tokenization #AssetList #InvestmentInnovation

North America, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions: Canada's Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions finalises the 2026 Liquidity Adequacy Requirements Guideline with updated retail funding and structured note treatment The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) published its final 2026 Liquidity Adequacy Requirements (LAR) Guideline, updating how it assesses whether federally regulated banks, bank holding companies, and trust and loan companies can meet obligations in cash or assets readily convertible to cash. The final version incorporates feedback from a 60-day public consultation that ended in July 2025 and focuses on clarifying deposit classification and related liquidity treatment. Key changes include clearer criteria for classifying deposits as retail funding, with partnership deposits split into smaller groups based on deposit insurance status, whether the account is transactional, and whether there is an established relationship between the retail client and a non-bank financial intermediary. OSFI also combined the two proposed retail structured note categories into a single category aligned to the treatment of term deposits directly managed by an unaffiliated third party, clarified how to measure maturity for structured notes with autocallable features, specified when contingent funding obligations should apply, and simplified the definition of retail rate-sensitive deposits. OSFI noted that the enhancements continue to meet Basel Committee on Banking Supervision standards. The guideline comes into effect on May 1, 2026. Link to official release: https://lnkd.in/d3D-RTP4
