After 5 years of shopping at…

After 5 years of shopping at Sainsbury's online, I've closed my account.
I feel so much better knowing that I'm never ever giving them a penny of my money again. You ripped me off, you sent out of date food, you sent short date food, your customer service is diabolical, INCLUDING THE SO CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE ON HERE , CONTACT YOU ON FB, OR X OR WHATEVER ELSE PLATFORM, WHY??? I tried it once , ZERO HELP. SAINSBURY'S IS HISTORY.

Norwich Queens road AGAIN.!!

My last complaint was June 25th, I got a reply July 18th....24 days later...............usual response. " we take our complaints seriously, get in touch via twitter or facebook"
I,ve tried facebook, no joy, and i,m not on twitter.
So how about an update.
returned from my holiday and went to Sainsburys Queens road , Norwich to grab basics.
Whilst picking up bread, milk ect i headed to the aisle that i made the complaint about on June 25th.
This is where the horror continues.....not only was the product "out of date " at the end of JUNE ( IT,S NOW JULY 18TH) I ALSO FOUND A BEST BEFORE THE END OF MAY.!! took a photo this time THEY ARE STILL ON THE SHELF.
If you take your stock rotation seriously Sainsbury then how come it,s certainly not been done in this store for months.!! look forward to your reply as always.

Ordering Shopping online

For the last few weeks my wife has had a problem with our online shopping account, when going to checkout it would not allow her to do so, but this week she went in to amend our order and remove a chicken, she was unable to do this, so she rang the helpline, the lady that she spoke to said that she was unable to amend it and said that she would report it to tech support and that she should try again in an hours time, two hours later she tried again, still couldn’t remove it, so she rang again, I don’t know if it was the same lady, but she did sound the same, there was a child crying in the background, which I think is unacceptable, she said that she couldn’t do anything, which my wife was not happy with, so the lady eventually removed it - great. This morning my wife was putting in an order for next week and when trying to order a chicken, she was unable to do it, as chicken had been blocked all together. We then decided to email Sainsbury’s and received a response which told us to reboot our system, logout and do all of the things that we had already tried, they were not willing to accept any responsibility for the issue and were not very helpful at all, we will no longer be using Sainsbury’s and will go to Tesco in future, we have been using them for many years now and have never problems apart from the last month, the call centre is no longer in the UK, and it is quite obvious the the agents that you speak to are working from home, if they don’t get their act together they are going to lose a lot of customers

A reputation built on service is crumbling

If I am correct Sainsburys built their reputation on service. Now when you shop in a Sainsburys' store and have a trolly full of items you do not want to fumble your way through the complexities of Self-Checkout. Sadly, more often than not, in a large Sainsburys you may find one checkout staffed. In other smaller ones, despite a couple of tills, they are unstaffed leaving you the unacceptable options of walking away from your trolly full of good and sacrificing the £1 token, struggling frustratingly through self checkout or queuing at the tobacco kiosk where there is a very limited space to hand over and repack your purchases.

I’ve had a really bad experience with…

I’ve had a really bad experience with Sainsbury’s home delivery service. This started with my delivery arriving and several bottles of wine had broken in transit and glass and wine had gone over my entire order, the driver apologised, said he’d have to return my order to the store, nothing more he could do, I would have to contact Sainsbury’s to arrange a replacement, this was around 9:15pm, I contact Sainsbury’s using their messaging service on their app and ten minutes later am told that I will have a replacement by 11pm, excellent I thought, but nothing turned up. I contacted Sainsbury’s again this morning at 8:45am this time using messenger so to have a record of the conversation. I got a reply ten minutes later saying I would have to call their 0800 number and talk to an advisor, I called them at 9:00 and after 30 minutes of the advisor putting me on hold to talk to the store, I was told they couldn’t arrange a replacement delivery, that I would be refunded in 3 to 5 working days, on the order I had around £10 of nectar price savings which have now run out, but the customer advisor didn’t appear too concerned about that. Terrible service, can’t say I’ll be using them in a hurry again!!

Oldham toilets…

Oldham Sainsbury's haven't got toilets but worse of all they have no disabled toilets. Today I asked a man with a clipboard and he sad: "we haven't had toilets in 4 years! " As if customers were supposed to know that Sainsbury's has no disability infrastructur. It really is extremely poor. They send people down the ramp to the petrol station. I complained previously to Sainsbury's and they sad they have the toilets but they are closed. So really all it takes is a tiny investment and this would be solved but no, 4 years where disabled people have to go down the ramp or walk to the library to use the facilities.

Horrific experience

Horrific experience. Online website is shit. When I tried to complain - fobbed off with chatbots for a hour. Finally got through to a human, no idea of customer service. Whole experience was horrendous. Will not be dealing with them again. Very strongly recommend you don’t either. Will try Asda or Tesco, anybody but Sainsbury. Shop in store fine, online- don’t bother.

Disgusted

We spend up to £150 a week in Sainsbury's and on Monday my wife bought a pack of Chicken tikka with Mondays date on, it had not been reduced which warns you of a short date.
My wife went back the next day with the product asking for a refund and was refused, so much for customer service.
I am so angry and annoyed I will be looking to shop else where going forward.

Very recent query/complaint about Long Life Lacto Free Milk being rancid upon opening, (this hot weather) dated 15/8/26 as use by date.....You requested 'I REACH OUT' to you on Facebook - NO too much faff. Took 2 containers of virtual yoghurt to my local store (who are customer focussed and helpful) + rinsed pack. They dealt with it, credited me, NO FAFF. Perfect & effective!

Rude, lazy delivery driver and dismissive customer care agent

We are friendly customers and always polite to the delivery drivers. We never complain about Sainsbury's because it has been good, up until now.

As usual I politely asked the driver "could you put the crate on here please?", referring to a wooden shoe rack in the doorway which prevents us from having to bend down and set off our bad backs. But he seemed exasperated at this request and stood there, hands on hips, waiting for us to come outside and unload the crates ourselves. No other driver has had a problem with this.

He managed to bring himself to lift the crates for us but then decided to keep glaring at me as I unloaded them, again hands on hips, aggressive style and wanting to stare me out!

Every time we've had this driver he is unfriendly and clearly doesn't want to do this job. I'm not easily scared of people but I don't want the hassle of wondering whether he visits us again, and I'm concerned what effect he is having on the more vulnerable customers. He is an intimidating chap and clearly does not belong in this role.

So I rang the customer care number after getting nowhere with the chat facility, only to have the offshore guy on the other end keep laughing about it. Very strange and off-putting indeed. He also told me a local manager would call me within 24 hours. That was 48 hours ago. Clearly there is no intention of taking this seriously and the risk of this miserable man blowing up at someone (or worse) remains.

We'll transfer to another supermarket, but if anyone in Sainsbury's does indeed care about this issue, they will need to call me on the number I have given them as I am not on social media.

What a total disaster

What a total disaster visiting this store was, very limited stock on virtually everything I wanted and when I went to pay for the few items I had and what a total debacle. No tills were open and when I asked why I was told that they don't have enough staff to open them, but they had staff just milling around chatting and quite a lot of them so why can't they man the tills? I had to twice ask the 2 staff standing there chatting to come over as the self service as usual was playing up. I asked to speak to the manager to complain and guess what they weren't available. Suffice to say I will never use this store again, what a total disgrace.

Appalling customer service, logistics, and support

I previously used Ocado, and before that Waitrose, along with Amazon Fresh occasionally for top-ups etc. The latter because you can place / edit an order right up to two hours before delivery.

Someone suggested trying Sainsburys due to a broader range and it being possibly cheaper.

For the first month or so all went well, on time, prices less, no issues at all, so took out a delivery pass...

...then one delivery simply didn't even turn up, with customer service saying the driver claimed they'd tried the doorbell, but no-one was home, which was obviously not the case.

The replacement delivery for 7pm the next day ended up arriving at 10pm. the next few deliveries after that were likewise each an hour or two late without any update.

The Sainsbury's app itself which I'd previously used, on upgrading my phone said it was no longer compatible, so started using the website...

...until a month later found there were issues with that as well: "We can't place your order at the moment. Please try again later"

I contacted customer service who said they couldn't do anything beyond refer to their IT department, who didn't come back to me until nearly a week later (at which point I'd had to order elsewhere), and then only with a worthless email suggesting I try another browser, which I already had (30 years in IT and all that).

I contacted customer service again and on it went, another worthless email from their IT department in India, this time sounding like they'd simply used a chat-bot to answer mine.

In the end, having given then another 7 days, I ended up having to get my credit-card company to reverse the charge for the delivery pass and am now back with Ocado, and giving Tesco a go.

The produce may be ok when it arrives, but for me there were too many other issues, and as above when things go wrong the customer service, logistics, and support are appalling.

This review is based on online shopping

This review is based on shopping online. On my most recent delivery I had to refuse all the frozen items due to them being defrosted, it’s usual for them to be in the process of defrosting on arrival, but these were completely defrosted. The chilled items were also quite warm but perfectly fine according to customer service after I complained, let’s hope I don’t get food poisoning Sainsbury’s. I then have to chase the refund as it isn’t processed. Taking advantage of the 25% discount on 6 bottles of wine, on 2 occasions they have delivered 5, removing the discount. Also the food arrives dirty due to the filthy crates they pack them in and not using bags for anything. The service is poor to say the least and far from convenient since you’re pretty much guaranteed to have to go to the shops and contact customer service over some issue. Not the service I expect from one of the most expensive supermarkets.

Appalling Customer service

I wouldn't even give them 1 star right now for their lack of customer care.
They couldn't deliver my food order yet didn't tell me this, so I waited all afternoon & evening for nothing. They couldn't find my house but didn't contact me to find where I live. I was assured it was coming the next evening yet when I called as I'd heard nothing I was told I should have called head office. No-one has taken any responsibility to help with this order. Head office nor the local branch have rectified this. So I emailed the ceo. An executive asked what the issue was. 3 weeks later and 2 follow up emails from me and still nothing! This is a disgusting way to treat a customer.
