Just Bad
Today - 12th October 2018, 5.30pm - we visited the store Krämer Pferdesport in Dreilinden together with our two sons (5 and 2,5 years old). As it happens with kids, the 2,5- year-old was tired, in a bad mood and very squeaky, hence noisy. We tried to hurry to get everything together so we can leave and not disturb anyone.
No one ever came to us from the personal and asked if we are OK or need any help. But that was not a biggie, as I wont shy to ask if I need to (which I actually did several times). What bothered me though, and made me real furious was one salesperson who was just totally impolite, rude and I am sure never heard of customer service before. 2 times she passed by and instead asking us if everything is OK or if she could help in order to speed up our search, she made comments like „oh boy“ or „oh-oh, you are loud“. The last straw was, when she just approached us again and looked to the 2,5 year child asking him if he could, by any chance, be more laud. SERIOUSLY??? Are you kidding me?
I asked her why she needs to address the kid and comment in such a manner. Then she started of that we were too laud in the past half an hour and other customers started to complain. Fair enough, I do understand this. But, couldn't she just have walked up to us earlier then, asking us if she could assist. Mention politely, that some customers feel uncomfortable.
It is also about how you package and sale things. I thought a salesperson is aware of that. Seems, I was mistaken.
I was too angry to ask her name or speak to the manager. Should have done it... Just left the store.
That person needs training of what good customer service means or change profession. In the current state, she is definatelly not fit for the position.
Furthermore, she actually costs the buisness money. I was about to buy for 200-300 euros. I know, in that business it is perhaps not much. However, as it was for my 5 year-old, the business acutally lost a potential, future customer. Calculate, how much revenue that would mean.
Perhaps, the company wants to deduct that from her salary. She might than feel more motivated to threat customers and people around her friendlier.
As a business, you should also consider, that if someone is choosing to shop brick and mortal, the expectation is to get good advice, guidance and excellent customer service. In the age of internet, Amazon, eBay, AliBaba, you name it, B&M stores just do not have the luxury of not giving a crap or being a****oles... not even in Germany.
