No stars if possible
No stars if possible. Just got off the phone with FOX and nothing was done regarding my concerns.
After a long flight to Fort Lauderdale airport, I arrived at fox rentals and was immediately met with a long line for almost an hour. While standing there for a while, I noticed a sign for an option to skip the line for a fee, an unnecessary money grab I thought to myself. I instantly felt something was off. Since I bundled my rental into my other travel plans, I could not go elsewhere at the time even though my instincts were telling me otherwise. I was essentially locked in since I already prepaid for the car. Once I was at the desk, I felt that this was an extremely predatory service at the time of pickup. The service provider made it seem like the things I was signing was deposit oriented and that I would get most of it back. They did not even give me the option to use my own insurance and told me the sun-pass for tolls was a non negotiable. I fully understand standard rental practices, and I have never been hit with this much additional/hidden fees at such a steep price. I had initially bundled with Expedia to assure that all funds were paid ahead of time. Fox proceeded to slap on an additional $730 on top of the purchase I had already made with fox on Expedia. I am currently unemployed and was in town visiting for a siblings wedding with limited funds. I am devastated in the sense that I cannot put food on the table in the coming weeks to pay this outrageous price for a basic Nissan rental. I’m disgusted with the practice of this scam artist company.
What a scam
What a scam. Told them no insurance. She then said sign this waiver on the 4 inch tablet where there was only a space for initials. They charged me for insurance and won't back down. Cheaters!
Avoid this company
Avoid this company. Was told I was required to buy their insurance when I rented car despite having coverage through my own insurance — was forced to pay addition $418. Additionally, process getting from airport to rental car company was time consuming. Renter beware. Use a reputable company.
Do Not Trust Them!
I arranged a prepaid rental with Fox Car Rental in San Antonio, Texas, on behalf of my boss, and the experience was extremely disappointing from beginning to end. At pickup, the Fox agent, Jason, offered what was presented as a free vehicle upgrade. He also attempted to sell additional insurance, which was clearly declined. Presenting something as a ‘free upgrade’ without clearly disclosing that declining the optional insurance would result in a $173 charge was misleading. Neither my boss nor I was informed that the upgrade was conditional or that refusing the insurance would automatically trigger an additional fee. Had that been explained honestly and clearly, the upgrade would have been declined as well. After discovering the unexpected charge, I personally spent more than two hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue. I explained that this important condition had never been disclosed during the rental process. Despite this, Fox refused to remove the charge. This morning, I received an email stating that the charge was considered valid. The issue is not simply the $173. It is the lack of transparency and the failure to disclose a material term before the customer agreed to the transaction. Presenting something as a “free upgrade” while omitting conditions that later result in an unexpected charge is misleading and does not reflect the level of honesty or professionalism customers should expect. Based on my experience coordinating this rental and attempting to resolve the dispute, I found the sales practices to be lacking in transparency, the customer service unhelpful, and the handling of this matter disappointing. I will not use Fox Car Rental again, and I do not recommend using them for car rental services.
DO NOT RENT HERE! THEY WILL SCAM YOU. ⚠️
DO NOT RENT HERE! THEY WILL SCAM YOU. ⚠️
I prepaid $129 for a 3-day rental through Europcar (partnered with Fox) and reserved a Jeep Compass. When we showed up at 4:30 AM, the staff was incredibly rude and made us wait 2 hours, only to give us a completely wrong, lower-quality Nissan Kicks from someone else's reservation.
On top of the prepaid rental, they charged a $150 deposit. It’s been over two weeks since I returned the car, and they refuse to give the deposit back. I filed a dispute with Capital One, and Fox lied to the bank, claiming the $150 was the rental fee while completely ignoring the fact that I already paid the original $129.
They are actively trying to steal my money and double-charge me. Avoid this place at all costs!
I should had read the review before…
I should had read the review before booking. Book the car at the wrong airport DFW when my arrival was at Love Field. At the moment i act fast and tried to contact but call disconnected and asked you to go on the portal or online. Never with a live person. Had to booked a different car at the location where i was. Decided to go thru the booking agency and the bottom line was that Fox Rent a Car decided not to return the money of the rental due to being a prepaid rent. So had to expend $400 on both rentals for the 3 days. Worst experience ever, DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. If this is how you make your CEO bonus well hope you enjoy.
if you are looking to rent cheap, they…
if you are looking to rent cheap, they will give you what you pay for

Extremely shady business - Avoid
Extremely shady business. I booked a pay now reservation (fully refundable if canceled 48 hours before pickup) 4 months before my pickup date and then canceled it the month after (3 months before car pickup). The online portal allowed me to cancel without a hitch and promised a full refund within "3-5 business days". When I noticed my card statement 45 days after though, there was no refund. When I called them, I was informed that they hold the refund amount until the customer calls them and confirms the cancellation. Mind you, there was 0 mention of this practice when i cancelled. I asked the rep on the call to forward my feedback back to their office that this was an unfair and shady practice and she attempted to give me a lecture about how this is very fair because "they cannot contact every customer that wants to cancel". So zero mention of holding your money, zero mention of them needing you to call in to confirm cancellation. Shady shady shady!
They lied about pricing - SCAM
They lied about pricing and didn't show us what the charges were until we had signed everything. Every time I inquired about getting a partial refund (I'm happy to pay for what I got but not get scammed) they straight out refused. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I will never use them again. SCAMMERS!
My experience with this company was…
My experience with this company was nothing short of a disaster and, without exaggeration, one of the worst car rental experiences I have ever had.
The problems began the moment I arrived at the pickup counter. The lady handling my rental was rude, impatient, and completely lacking in customer service skills. She made me wait for approximately 30 minutes, insisting that my vehicle was not ready. When I was finally sent to collect it, I discovered that I had been assigned a compact SUV instead of the standard SUV I had reserved. Only after I complained was the mistake corrected.
Things quickly went from bad to worse. Within minutes of leaving DFW Airport, I experienced a flat tire. I immediately called Roadside Assistance and remained on hold for more than 30 minutes without anyone answering. With no support whatsoever, I was forced to change the tire myself on the side of the road before driving to my hotel.
When I finally reached customer service to request a replacement vehicle, I expected them to take responsibility. Instead, I was instructed to drive to a Discount Tire store to have the tire repaired. What should have been a routine visit turned into an exhausting three-hour ordeal because Europcar repeatedly failed to answer calls from the Discount Tire staff, who needed authorization to proceed.
The most unbelievable part came afterward. A Europcar representative instructed the Discount Tire technician not to release the vehicle because the rear windshield wiper—already defective before I received the car—needed management approval for replacement. As a result, the technician had no choice but to keep the vehicle until Europcar finally responded. I was effectively left stranded because of a pre-existing defect that should have been identified and repaired before the vehicle was ever rented out.
This entire experience demonstrated an alarming lack of vehicle inspection, poor communication, inadequate customer support, and complete disregard for a customer’s time. Receiving the wrong vehicle, being provided with a car that had multiple issues, being unable to reach Roadside Assistance in an emergency, and then wasting hours because of internal communication failures is simply unacceptable.
I will never rent from this company again, nor would I recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and professional car rental experience
Oh my God
Oh my God, dealing with this company has been a nightmare; please don't use them—they are scammers. A few weeks ago, I rented a mid-sized SUV from them. When I showed up to pick up the vehicle, they gave me a small SUV instead of the mid-sized one I had paid for. Secondly, they told me they wouldn't accept my car insurance and that I had to pay for theirs regardless; on top of that, they made me pay a deposit of nearly $500 that they never returned—basically, they ripped me off. One more thing: if you don't return the car with a full tank, they charge you $10 per gallon of gas... watch out for them.
I would Never!! rent from this company…
I would never rent from this company again!! Over charged, hidden fees and what ever you prepay you'll pay for again, good luck getting them to give your money back after you show them how they've over charged you, you'll be stuck in hours of holds and no response emails. Do Not us this company

Appreciate the associate Haw
Dear Fox Rental Company,
Even though I gave a one-star rating, I am writing to share my sincere appreciation for an associate named Haw.
During my birthday vacation in Arizona, the rental vehicle broke down, which unfortunately disrupted a short but special vacation that my daughter had carefully planned. After the incident, I submitted a claim for reimbursement of the vehicle repair expenses as well as the tour payment that we were unable to use because of the situation.
Throughout the process, Haw was incredibly understanding, patient, and helpful. Haw took the time to listen to my concerns, guided me through the claims process, and helped ensure that my refund request was approved. The level of professionalism, compassion, and customer service provided made a difficult experience much easier to manage.
I truly appreciate all of Haw’s assistance and dedication to helping customers. Employees like Haw make a significant difference, and I wish every rental car company had team members who demonstrate the same commitment to customer care.
Please extend my gratitude and recognition to Haw for the outstanding service provided.
Sincerely,
Ella Ahgal
Forced to pay extra unnecessary fees…
Forced to pay extra unnecessary fees that I allegedly ‘chose’ to purchase.
DO NOT USE. WILL COST YOU MORE THAN MORE REPUTABLE PROVIDER!!!
If I could give them 0 stars I would
If I could give them 0 stars I would. I booked my car on CapitalOne. it was supposed to pay for the entire rental. When I picked up the car, I was charged mandatory insurance for more than the amount of the car rental. I wish I hand cancelled, but I was in a huiry and things were busy. I told the agent I was already covered by my personal car insurance, but they insisted it was mandatory. Makes you wonder if they are paid commissions for over charging their customers. Keep away from Fox Rent A Car and EuropCar.
Hidden Fees
Im updating my original review since a Manager contacted me and is providing a partial refund. Lets hope it comes through!
I paid in full for my car rental through Expedia. The guy at Fox counter was nice, tried to upsell me, I didn't bite other than the insurance which he said would cost $160 in total. That was not the case. The charge on my credit card far exceeded the agreed upon amount and when I inquired, I was given no explanation other than these are the fees. I will never use this car rental company again nor will I reserve a rental through Expedia. Bait and switch all around!
Please don’t rent with this company
Please don’t rent with this company, the worst experience I ever have. This company is a nest of thieves. The customer service is awful, long wait time, the car was bad condition and dirty and the down payment uffff , admin fees are ridiculous for a $12.62 toll they charge a $75.00 administrative fee and don’t even think to talk with a customer service by phone to get an explanation about those charges and don’t even expect to make a claim even if I call and go to the website nobody ever answers I’ve been renting cars for more then 12 years to go out for business trips and this had to be the worst experience ive ever had.Again please dont rent with this company you will lose money and have a horrible experience.
Beware is a scam
Beware ! Is a scam They will add ridiculous charges to your bill , after leaving with the car never got a copy of the contract, they double the cost of rent, I wanted to return the car the same day they will charge the full amount and will not cancel the additional services , go with any other company even if is more expensive
