Resi Reviews 

After the stress of the renovation, I didn’t have the energy to write this review at the time. However, a few years later, I still feel it’s important to share our experience.

The lack of care and attention to detail from the Resi team caused a number of issues during the build. There were errors in their measurements and calculations which our own contractor thankfully picked up. Had he not been so conscientious, one of these errors would have resulted in the ceiling being significantly lower in our kitchen.

This was not an isolated issue, but one of several careless miscalculations that created unnecessary problems for us and our contractor during an already stressful renovation. Given that we had hired professionals precisely to avoid these kinds of problems, the experience was extremely disappointing. I wish we hadn’t trusted Resi with something as costly and important as the renovation of our home.

In my experience, Resi prioritised the options most likely to receive approval, while dismissing alternatives that may have been less favourable to Building Control. We specifically asked to discuss different roofing options, but were pushed towards a parapet design without any meaningful consideration of the alternatives.

We also felt pressured to use contractors sourced through Resi’s platform. When I mentioned using external contractors, the team became very insistent that we use their platform instead. I later learned that Resi receives a referral fee from contractors appointed through it.

Unfortunately, every contractor we engaged through Resi has performed extremely poorly. The structural engineer missed load-bearing walls and did not take our preferences for steel placement into account, despite visiting the property to assess them. The building contractor then failed to follow the Building Regulations drawings, resulting in remedial work that has now been ongoing for two months. The contractor also submitted what appeared to be AI-generated photographs to Building Control that did not accurately represent the work completed.

What should have been a relatively straightforward extension is now expected to take more than six months.

Only in the initial stages. Preliminary plans drawn up. Drain survey by DynoRod (recommended by Resi) not good, no knowledge of work required, came with inadequate equipment and couldn’t find the drainage chamber (suggested digging up the whole extension Floor!), so employed another company who were able to locate and excavate hidden drainage chamber (under original extension!) and install a air proof sealed lid.
Resi staff were not to blame for DynoRod, explanations given on every step of the way so far. Now awaiting advice from Resi’s drainage/build over experts. Watch this space!!!

Resi were fantastic from start to finish! Ted, Sam and Anesa were all attentive, quick to respond, and always provided guidance and support.

It made the process stress free, efficient and actually enjoyable.

I used Resi on a planning project in Lambeth. I knew from the start that it was not going to be straightforward, so choosing the right architect was one of the most important decisions I had to make.
I'd already had a bad experience with a previous architect, which had cost me both time and money, so when I started looking again, I spent a lot of time researching and comparing different practices before making a final decision. I didn't want to get my fingers burnt a second time! I wanted an architect with the right experience, understood Lambeth's planning policies and had a proven track record with similar projects.

When I contacted Resi, I was put in touch with Nick Stockley, one of Resi's co-founders. After speaking to numerous architects, Nick was refreshingly direct. Rather than telling me what he thought I wanted to hear, he challenged some of my assumptions and explained why my original approach was unlikely to achieve the outcome I wanted. As I was new to this type of planning application, I appreciated someone taking the time to explain the reasoning behind their recommendations. Every recommendation was backed up with planning policy, examples from similar projects and data demonstrating their experience and track record. Every question I asked received a clear, timely and well-reasoned answer, so I felt I was making an informed decision.
The project had a few planning challenges, but Amar managed the day-to-day throughout. He kept me informed, maintained regular contact with the planning officers at Lambeth and was proactive in chasing progress and providing additional information whenever it was needed.
Resi weren't the cheapest option, but they were transparent about their fees from the start, so I always knew what was included. Their online platform was also very easy to use and made it straightforward to keep track of drawings, documents and progress throughout the project.
Overall, the team made what could have been an overwhelming process feel manageable. They combined specialist expertise with clear communication throughout, giving me confidence that the project was in the right hands. Looking back, choosing Resi was the right decision, and I'd happily recommend them to anyone taking on a similar project.

Everyone in the team has been super helpful, positive and approachable. I've felt covered at each checkpoint and that is so reassuring, especially as it's been an extremely busy time with many things to juggle, meaning it was invaluable having the team in control.

The guidance given regarding speaking with contractors was excellent. As a first timer doing this, I'm convinced that having a team guiding and supporting you, as and when needed, is imperative.

I would recommend Resi to anyone thinking about home renovations.
All of the team are great but a special mention to Sam who calmly talked me through some if the process when I was struggling to keep up. Sam made things very clear for me, was patient and I was even kept updated as to the teams annual leave and who would provide cover for each variance in the process.

I cannot rate the team highly enough. There are also helpful and jnteresting Zoom sessions available to clients, that give great insight to different aspects of the renovation process, with Q&As.

We were planning an extention, but had some challenges around what planning permission we needed - given previous owners had already done some work... We saw RESI ran an option to speak to a planner initially for a low cost, and discovered the process was much more complex, and the risk of getting permission was quite high, which our builder and previous architect had not mentioned at all.
So we then took RESI up on their full planning support service, and feel much more informed, and have manage to derisk the plans a bit more as a result. So hopefully on our way to getting our extension sorted

Very comprehensive approach to managing the project, with help and guidance on hand to make navigating the process easy. Well designed IT system to manage, control and record project progress.

The team are professional, knowledgeable and efficient in all aspects.
Their guidance and support throughout the whole process has been a lifesaver.

Clear, friendly advice- great service!

I’ve had the best experience with Resi. I first discovered them from watching one of their webinars about extending which was so useful. From my initial idea, right through to this week where my project is going into planning, the service from the team at Resi has been amazing. Their communication is top notch. They call when they say they will, are quick to respond to emails and the team they employ to visit you - surveyor, drain guy etc turn up on time! All the team have been incredible, from my first communications with Heather and Karveh but I must give individual thanks to my architect and designer, Ines. Ines is amazing, she’s personable, knowledgeable, patient and always goes the extra mile. I felt she really cared about my project and is as excited to bring it to life as I am. Ines gave me ideas I hadn’t thought of and tweaked designs until we felt we had the perfect design. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Resi and of course if you are lucky enough to have Ines on your project, you’ve hit the jackpot!

We have no criticism of them, or any of individuals involved, including the third parties which they suggested and we used, and they remained committed to our project - even though we used our own builder

Very easy to deal with, planning received 8 weeks after submission and Kaveh and the team were great. My only gripe would be that they need to be clearer on the costs you incur for building control and structural surveys. It was mentioned but very fleetingly, that’s the only reason it’s not a 5 star review.

A very good experience with Resi, who have a team of incredibly thorough, knowledgeable and helpful staff to guide you through every stage of a build or renovation from design and planning to finding and working with qualified and vetted builders. I felt I was in safe hands at every stage of the process and wouldn't hesitate to use Resi again.

Resi have been instrumental in helping us get to where we are with our build, which is due to start next week. From the outset, the process has been seamless and has provided invaluable support in navigating the many considerations, decisions and milestones that come with a building project - many of which we had little awareness of when we first started.

The design process was smooth and well managed. The online meetings and iterative approach made it easy to refine our plans, while the team consistently kept us informed about next steps and key considerations. A special thanks to Agus for guiding us through this stage so effectively.

Throughout the project, we've had excellent support from a number of team members. Ted, our account manager, has been fantastic - always keeping us updated and ensuring we had the information we needed at the right time. Sam provided some incredibly helpful insights when it came to selecting a builder, helping us make informed decisions with confidence. Ben was instrumental during the building regulations stage and provided significant support in navigating the Build Over Agreement process, particularly given the back-and-forth we experienced with Thames Water. Catherine also kept us well informed throughout the planning application process, which was greatly appreciated.

What has stood out most is that there was always someone available to help. The Resi portal is intuitive and easy to use, with all project information conveniently located in one place. Having the team handle the planning application and associated administration alone has been money very well spent.

While Resi may not be the cheapest option on the market, they offer excellent value for money. Their expertise, support and project management have helped alleviate much of the inevitable stress that comes with a building project. We have been extremely happy with our experience and would not hesitate to recommend them.

We have had an good, clearly explained, advice from Resi about a small extension we wish to do. Having had no idea how to proceed, engaging Resi has steered us through the process so that our planning application has now been submitted. All the hassle and uncertainty of producing plans as now and as proposed etc has been removed from us. Our queries and changes were dealt with speedily, and we understand the challenges of our application and the process going on. Very happy to recommend Resi.

An update of our experience so far

I feel like you get what you pay for. They were significantly cheaper than traditional architects and save costs where they can.

We felt Resi were the best option for us at the time as we didn't have a massive budget and our planned works weren't necessarily ground breaking.

We provided lots of information for what we wanted including a blueprint of our design.

Our initial meeting was 45 in which they showed the design they had prepared. It was practically like for like what we had provided but all the changes they made had to be redacted back to the original because we realised this wouldn't be approved.

We didn't really have a change to amend there design and charged us for amendments.

We had 45 mins total meeting for our design for the whole house. Considering we had a 2 hour consultation independently with our kitchen designers and 1.5 hours for the bathroom, to only get 45 mins with Resi for our whole house seems very short! And yes, it was very rushed and having to deal with any changes over email is very difficult.

We had to find lots of issues with the design ourselves and lots of reasons why it may not have been granted planning. We would have appreciated these to come from Resi and not us having to research ourselves.

One of the selling points for us to use Resi at the start was because they offer price estimates for the works. Now, from our experience it was high level estimates with massive ranges and very expensive compared to the quotes we sought independently.
