Do not use this company

I wish I had checked here before spending $400 for this stupid device. Setting up the watch was a nightmare, adding family contacts pain in the A and ongoing software and sync issues for the last year we have been using this product.
Nothing about this device is logically set up.

Today is what led me here to voice my angry opinion of this crap company.
The plan for the SIM didn't auto renew from over 2 months ago, but due to ZERO communication from Spacetalk regarding the plan expiring (which means no messages or even the ability to send your kids location!) I had no idea!
I guess in the last 2 months we haven't had to use it so wasn't aware of this extremely simple fix before today's crap circus.
A dangerous situation happened at the end of school and was made even more scary for me because I then couldn't communicate with or locate my child.

If I hadn't already spent such a silly amount of money I would look at something else so now I'm stuck with it.

Don’t bother

I’ll start with the usual comment of: “if I could give it zero stars, I would.”
We bought a Spacetalk watch for our son with a 6 months data package. It has never worked. It is absolutely the worst product we have ever purchased. Not only is it disappointing from a financial aspect, it is worrying from a safety perspective. We bought the watch to give our son a bit of independence to do things with his friends and provide him with the assurance that he could call us whenever he wanted. Unfortunately, it has never worked. The gps never finds him and never updates. It stalls and doesn’t work at all for two or three days. It doesn’t answer when we try to call him. It is fraudulent and unsafe. We have tried resolving the matter over a course of 6 months. Sadly, they just don’t listen and are unwilling to provide solutions. Now, after asking multiple times for a refund, they stall and ignore us. They deflect. When we cancelled our subscription for data, they still take out another 6 months subscription. It’s beyond negligence. Please don’t waste your money or time on this product. They don’t give a care in the world about their paying customers.

Extremely disappointed with the…

Extremely disappointed with the Spacetalk Adventure 2. We bought it for our child's safety, but the GPS was unreliable and the watch failed within warranty. The quality is unacceptable for a product marketed to protect children. After-sales support was frustrating, with no genuine effort to resolve the issue. I cannot recommend this product to any parent. It offers false peace of mind when reliability matters most. Please look for alternative products, avoid Spacetalk products all together.

Dont get one - save your time and money

- Watch had so many convoluted steps for set up (feels like no user experience was done at all).
- App and watch immediately glitching
- Technical support is only email, no phone call and clearly AI -Bots that just keep asking you for different things over and over again rather than asking for what they need from the beginning. It just creates so much administrative burden on the parent. If you dont respond in 24hrs to their last email they threaten to close your ticket in 72hra with no response even though theres an outstanding issue, i.e. refund request made and bot asks for info on tech issues while "engineering team assesses refund request". You provide the screenshots then you get another email asking how its going. And if you dont reply to that one they say they will close your ticket even though the refund is still being assessed...I've sent so many emails in a 7 days and just wish we never bought this.
- watch glitches during the day when in school mode telling me child has left school when they shouldnt have/havent.
- notifications come 15/20mins after child has actually left school.

Just a really poor quality product and experience. Dont waste your money! The 12 month data is a joke when the trouble shooting for GPS signal is that the watch needs to be outside and facing the sky and 2 to 3 bars even though they apparently use Telstra infrastructure. And we're in a capital city so connection should be fine.

Doesnt make me confident in child's ability to access support if theyre simply not outside - if they're in a building it means you cant be assured of the accuracy of a GPS signal.

Theyve asked me to complete a prpduct and experienxe review and none of my reviews are showing on their website one week later. Makes me wonder how many others they dont post that are negative.

I have no idea why they think its ok to release such a poor quality product, costing so much money, cutting corners with the product and customer support, in such an important and sensitive industry as child safety!

Save your money - buy an Apple watch lol.

NEVER BUY SPACETALK

The product does not perform as they advertise it will. The concept is great but the product is not meeting that vision. The software has bugs, between the watch and the app.
The worse thing though is the customer service. Hands down one of the worst companies we’ve ever had to deal with. My husband has been sitting in a chain of over 60plus emails, with over 12 different support people from the company, who do not listen to our concerns that we have had to explain over and over again. We simply want a refund for the watch we purchased direct from them, that never worked, and they have, without our consent, posted another watch to us to avoid refunding us. We have today submitted proof of emails and alerted the ACCC to their poor customer service. We have emailed from two different email address, for a manager to call us from Spacetalk to discuss this matter in detail and come up with a resolution but have been informed they don’t have telephone capabilities. They have also today asked for a proof of purchase which we made direct with them.

NEVER PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY. There are comparable products with better customer service out at there.

Whilst the quality of the app and product has drastically declined I cannot complain about our recent interaction with Dang .. his determination to correct our issues has restored some of our faith in Spacetalk.

I think the BOD and CEO need to understand this man is single-handedly restoring the name of Spacetalk .. they should be grateful to him ..

The only reason I will give them any stars is the pure quality of his service and follow through.

Amazing work Dang .. thank you

Absolutely appalling

Absolutely appalling. Do not purchase a watch or plan from this company. I bought my daughter the adventurer 2 at Christmas, it worked well until the end of May when it unexplainably stopped sending messages or outgoing calls. I am now at over 100 emails to customer support and apart from the endless cycle of generic AI advice no one can help me. The watch is useless and they are refusing to take responsibility or accountability. DO NOT BUY!

The company change destroyed a good product

I bought a Spacetalk watch for my kid 4 years ago, and I was really surprised of how well it worked and when there were any issues, support was some of the best. You would get fast responds and technical professional help from the engineering team when needed.

The company seem to have went through a internal change in structure in late 2025 the update to their system meant a new app that doesn't work for all, a support team that now sounds mostly like Indian supporters that just are there as a front to take tickets to hold the line against the problems for the engineering team, and then it feels like the engineering team have ben cut down to so low are number that they do not have time to handle problems from costumers.

I've not been able to log into my App and manage my kids watch for months, the support just tells me they a sorry and engineering team is looking at it. We are talking about an issue where they can't send a confirmation SMS to my phone number in Denmark.

This means I can't help my kid with anything, I can't monitor her position, I can't add numbers to her whitelist so her new friends can call her.

Basically all the utility that I pay for still, doesn't work and they don't have anything to show or say other than their engineering team is trying to get more information on the problem. But they can't answer what information that they are looking for, or what they are trying to do to solve it.

Buy something else. If you are lucky to have it work now, hope that you don't need to have support help you.

GPS doesnt work

The watch promised a lot, but it doesn't do what I the parent wanted - which is to see where my child is (they are walking home from school regularly). I can text and call them, but the GPS is constantly telling me they have left school, gone to the other side of town, once they were in the sea off the coast of Somalia. Customer services are useless.. Sorry SpaceTalk, I feel let down!

Pointless & infuriating customer service. Unreliable product.

We have had 2 watches. Got the second one because having limited distractions but location information was important to us.
The charging connection was consistently troublesome for both watches. It's very annoying to think the watch has been charging all night and realise that the connection wasn't perfect so the watch isn't charged, so the watch is useless. This happened regularly, even if the tension on the cord wasn't quite right.
But more importantly the customer service is atrocious. A few years ago I managed to track down a phone number for customer service, but the opening hours were extremely limited, so when we had a problem with the mobile connection on Friday evening of a long weekend, the watch was useless until I could reach them on Tuesday the following week. Now it seems the only way to contact them is via a chat bot which supposedly redirects you to a human chat, and it's very time consuming. It took me more than an hour to confirm (what was quite clear) that the sim wasn't functioning.
Lots of waiting between messages. Then confirming the obvious (eg. "just to confirm you are referring to the watch SIM" 40min into the chat after they've asked me to check the watch SIM in another device) and waiting another 4-6 minutes for a reply. Then, once they conceded that the sim wasn't working, they wanted me to give all my personal details, including full name, home address, phone number, e-mail and date of birth over an internet chat. This was supposedly so they could check which plan I was on and what my address was, but I'd already given my account number and name, and they'd looked up the account. I ensured my details were all updated on the App, but when I was unwilling to give all of my personal information over the internet they said they couldn't help me. They wasted 1hr20min of my time and then refused to send the replacement sim to the address registered for the account, and gave no alternative secure way of communicating my personal information. Then the chat timed out & there's no record available to me.
As an aside, on multiple occasions I received notification in the middle of the school day that my child had left the school grounds & was in a location ~1km away. I'd ring the school & he was in class. Quite stressful & disconcerting.

Safe and reliable

Love that there's no social media or internet browsers, as long as you have the SIM connected then everything works perfectly. Both my daughters have one and it's helped their independence massively.

Great alternative to a phone

My son is still able to text me when he needs picking up from school or footy, and the safe zones feature works well, the whole concept is a great idea that's been executed brilliantly.
