Southern Cross Travel Insurance Reviews 

Southern Cross made buying travel insurance easy and it was affordable. We are lucky we never needed to claim. Was really good getting offers from them leading up to our trip - in particular discounted roaming eSIM options. Definitely cheaper than roaming on our mobile plan.

Easy sign up and peace of mind.

It was very easy to apply for travel insurance and know that we were covered comprehensively for our trip.
There has been follow up on our return.

Southrrn cross are easy to use

Southern x travel insurance is easy to book and also if you have any questions they get back to you pretty quickly with an answer. Luckily we didnt need to claim this trip. I think the price of the policy is very competitive. We always check other options but end up using Southern x every time.

Didn’t need to use the Insurance but applying for it was easy when I had to disclose my husbands pre existing medical conditions.

It was good to know that I was covered as it was my first time overseas

I didn’t need to use the travel insurance luckily. Experience buying our family policy was easy. Never had an issue with Southern Cross Travel Insurance or Health Insurance.

First time making a claim in all my years of using travel insurance and this definitely was sad. The claims process felt as though it was designed to wear you out. Even with nice sounding agents and assessors.

There was a lack of clarity and thoroughness in information required only to be asked weeks later to provide more details. These details clearly should have been required on their claims form but the lack of specificity appears more like a delay mechanism. (if an information is required then it should be stated).

The Documents (provider requested as part of claims process) were uploaded but these appeared to have not been carefully reviewed. Some of the details I was called two weeks later were on the documents provided but for some reason the claims processing system did not carefully read through and I was being asked about them two weeks later. Including being provided another form to complete.
One week after this exchange and three weeks I after lodged the claim I received an email that "We've completed the assessment of your claim and are pleased to advise that **** has been paid to the bank account you provided in your claim submission. Please note, the payment can take up to 3 working days to reach your account."

Two hours later, I was then sent another email saying that there is some fine print about vehicle size (perhaps based on old bus sizes) that the vehicle rented was out of specification (larger than the usual bus size covered).
I almost felt it was a case of looking for an excuse to deny claims.

Purchased it for my partner and I’s Rarotonga trip. Easy to sort, didn’t need it thankfully but you can’t ask for an easier service. Cost is fantastic
