Involved from the minute I walked into the Norwich branch followed by the procedure itself at Chelmsford.
Very caring staff who explained everything from start to finish.
The procedure itself was pain free and the after care was excellent.

I have no complaints with the staff or the actual treatment, my issues are value for money and aftercare. In 2023, after initial consultation, I was recommended to have Refractive Lens Replacement surgery meaning both of my original lenses would be replaced with new lenses and this would restore 20/20 vision. The cost was a major factor for me, €4300 per eye (8600 total) was a huge chunk for me to pay out as I'm now retired, but I decided it would be worth it if it corrected my vision. I was assured verbally that this was a 'job for life' and I would never have problems with cataracts etc in future. All was well until this year 2026, barely 3 years after the surgery, when my vision in both eyes became blurred. I rang Optical Express to be told that they would certainly examine my eyes, at a cost of another €120 ! After examination, I was told they could fix the problem but it would cost €895 per eye !! This came as a huge shock to me that only 3 years down the road, my 'job for life ' was anything but that and it would cost me almost € 1800 to fix what hadn't been done right in the 1st place. I am currently exploring my options but I would definitely CAUTION anyone considering having this Lens Replacement treatment to think twice before shelling out your hard earned money with no guarantee of success. I now wish I hadn't proceeded with this treatment at Optical Express and I think their aftercare of clients needs to be looked at and not just a money grabbing opportunity from people who can't afford it !

It was Rachel that I had my appointment with. She is outstanding! . Calm , understanding and covered everything, I had trouble to think of questions to ask.... I am having my eyes done in Dublin soon..

Mother needed her glasses cleaned and Rachel looked after her. Rachel was so gentle and calm with my mother, who was so impressed she will return to get her glasses renewed. Thank you for being so kind.

The appointment system is not fit for purpose, the IT system is in need of upgrading regarding speed. You can't make your next appointment whilst there as the diary is not open. When you telephone it is not answered at the branch & is diverted to head office. The only time my appointment time has been on time, was the initial consultation.

Arjun was our initial contact, and on some follow ups. Very thorough in all aspects on every visit. Professional and friendly. This applies to all Optical Express employees I had the pleasure to meet.

Just had my Laser Eye Surgery in Dublin with Optical Express,and all I can say is that the whole experience has been amazing,I still can’t believe I now have perfect vision with no more Lens or glasses for me,

Every single person I have met from my initial consultation in Cork with Rachel,to my surgery in Tallaght,Dublin yesterday,with Mikhail and all the team,Emer the optometrist today,it has been the best experience I could have wished for.

All staff in Cardiff optical express are great and in particular I have seen will and Elly who both were friendly but also explaining all details about my eyes health etc as well as answering all questions I need to ask them about my eye surgery
I also met April the brunch manger who also helped me on two occasions but she is also friendly kind and a lovely lady

Very satisfied with my experience in Optical Express in Dublin, after having laser eye surgery. I was surprised at how smooth and easy they made the whole process and I felt very taken care of. I felt they were very thorough with all of the eye tests before the surgery and made sure there were plenty of chances to answer any questions I had. The whole team were so kind and friendly.

While on a trip to Cork recently, my glasses needed to be tightened as they kept falling off when I looked downwards.
The lovely Eliza looked after me with such kindness. She and her colleague had them fixed and cleaned for me in a few minutes.
They did not charge me a cent. I was so grateful to have my glasses fixed and not have to wait until I returned home to my own optician.
This is real customer service in action. Service with a smile

Hi , i visited mahonpoint in cork on Tuesday the 16th of June 2026, I was met by a very nice young lady at reception, then I was looked by Roxana for to get my eyes tested for surgery , Roxana explained everything in fine detail to me ,Roxana was so good to make sure that I understood everything and I am suitable for surgery , so I’m going ahead with surgery , couldn’t be happier with the service provided , so thank you both

I dealt with an absolute lady today called Brenda.she was unbelievably helpful in every way I also had so many questions regarding my upcoming laser eye surgery and she put my mind at ease and answered all of my questions with confidence and reassured me at every point in my appointment today! I highly recommend optical express they were so professional, all the girls I dealt with today were so polite and made it so much easier for me! Thank you to all the team who made my appointment so amazing!

The welcome experience from Breda as I entered the store, was 10/10 everyone was extremely friendly and attention to detail from questions to eye exam made feel at ease and I was so relaxed throughout. Overall very professional team and informative to my needs.
