The site was easy to use and a site like this was needed for short and mid term rentals however the tenant protection fee which the website itself takes is way too much, usually around 40% of your montly rent
HousingAnywhere and Quarto e Quartos (QeQ) are both companies you should AVOID no matter what!!! Because of these two companies we lost a total of 950 euros – which they, in turn, made.
Going this path, you'll end up in a trap. QeQ only provides the tenancy agreement two days before the tenant moves in, without the tenant having the option to withdraw from the agreement (free of charge) or to modify it. And this agreement is inhumane, thereby placing the tenant in an extremely vulnerable position. For instance, it says that the tenant must move out within 1 week notice, if QeQ says so. They can also visit under 24 hours notice (so it could also be 5 minutes notice). And in the case of ‘dirty shared areas’ they can charge up to 30 euros per tenant!! In our view, this violates privacy and human dignity. And it gives all rights and power to the company.
When we tried to contact HousingAnywhere about this situation, we received nothing but "polite AI emails" about how "sorry" they are but they can't do anything about our situation.
After many emails exchanged, we ended up with strong suspicion that the whole "Joana" profile at HousingAnywhere is a scam. The "landlady" actually works for Quarto e Quartos, which has terrible reviews and very shady website. There is zero information about the staff, no single name or contact of a person. "Joana's" profile photo on HousingAnywhere is fake as well. The emails were inconsistent with the messages etc.
MANY MANY RED FLAGS. But we were already too deep in it. And ended up losing our first rent + tenant "protection fee" (that does nothing).
I used their site to book a stay for my studies abroad. It was not until I arrived in the new country, that I was presented with an until then unknown contract, which held new information, that I would never have agreed to. As I am tired from my flight I try to negotiate with the landlord which due to the language barrier is quite difficult. I try contacting Housinganywhere to ask them about the legality of what he does as I am not too comfortable with my contract, but I get no response except for a chatbot which offers no help. After two hours he gets very impatient and uncomfortable and we end up making some changes to the contract (still not what I was promised on the online add). After three days I finally get a response, and I tell them, that I want the money back for the 175€ tenants protection fee as I felt kinda scammed by the whole process and not at all "protected" by their presence. I could not get my money back since more than 48h had passed since I moved in, even though I reached out 10 minutes after moving in. Their delay caused the time to run out and they refuse any responsibility in the process. This is a very bad experience as an international student whose financial situation is not much different than planned due to gatekeeping of important information and lack of service.

Dishonest landlord, avoid at all costs! I strongly advise against this rental, especially for female students. The listing conditions are not respected: I had to leave before the end of my stay as the living conditions were unsafe and impossible (a man in his forties lived in the apartment and displayed completely inappropriate behavior). Furthermore, she refuses to return my €600 security deposit, holding it hostage over her own disputes with the platform. Stay away!

I made a booking for a listing within a few days. Landlords typically do take a while to reply. Other than that, it's easy to navigate through listings and fairly intuitive to contact landlords. The tenant protection feature is a little expensive, but for the ease of mind it provides, I think it's worth it.

The house in the advertisement was not what was in real. The actual house had damages, dirt, broken facilities, unavailable rooms, random things kept everywhere and was super dirty in general. It was not how it was promised at all and all tenants also complained saying they feel scammed.

The room finding fee was a bit high. Everything else was nice and smooth.

The apartment is in a nice neighborhood, and the room is very clean, as is the whole apartment. Lucky to have rented this room!

Unsatisfactory stay: Misleading listing, broken heating, and zero support
My stay at this property was an extremely disappointing experience due to inaccurate listing details and atrocious customer service.
First, the self check-in was terribly managed. Critical details—such as the floor and exact apartment number—were omitted. I had to reach out repeatedly just to get basic entry instructions, and responses were severely delayed.
Second, the listing is highly misleading:
Furnishing: Advertised as "fully furnished," but while basic furniture was present, everyday essential supplies were completely missing.
Laundry: A washing machine was listed, failing to clarify that it is a shared communal facility located in the basement with restricted hours, rather than inside the apartment.
Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi was explicitly listed as an amenity, but there was no Wi-Fi available at all.
Most critically, the heating in my bedroom did not work. When I attempted to contact management regarding the broken heating and missing Wi-Fi, my phone calls and emails were completely ignored. There is zero customer assistance, leaving guests completely abandoned when major issues arise.

I stayed in Portugal 3 months all at the same apartment in Estoril/Cascais. I loved it. The apartment was perfect for me due to location, amenities and price. After I arrived in Cascais I found out the best thing about the apartment was the landlady and her family. Absolutely lovely people. A couple of friends from USA came to visit and were also delighted with the apartment, so it wasn’t just my opinion. Although I have an international driver’s license I didn’t need to rent a car. All transport very close, easy walking distance for this old retired lady. Very safe area, during the August it was hot so I walked about two miles every night (2am). No problems at all. Very quiet town, So peaceful. I give top rating to the apartment and the town. I would definitely stay here again for another holiday. Highly recommended.

I am extremely disappointed with HousingAnywhere's handling of what may be a serious personal data security incident.
I booked accommodation in Düsseldorf through HousingAnywhere and paid approximately €1,080, including my first month's rent and the platform's service fee.
Shortly before my scheduled move-in date of October 30, 2026, I was contacted on WhatsApp by a complete stranger who somehow knew my name, phone number, accommodation details, and exact move-in date. This person attempted to redirect me to an external payment.
How did an unknown third party obtain information about my private booking?
This is an extremely serious question, and one that HousingAnywhere has still not answered.
My landlord subsequently shared what appeared to be a security notification from HousingAnywhere concerning a phishing incident involving their account. However, I have received no independent confirmation from HousingAnywhere explaining what happened, whether my personal information was compromised, or what steps have been taken to protect me.
I immediately contacted HousingAnywhere through its support system and sent two emails explaining the situation.
And what did I receive? No meaningful response. No explanation. No solution.
Instead, I received an automated message apologizing for delays due to high support volume.
I understand that companies can experience busy periods. But how can a platform that handles customers' money, personal information, and accommodation bookings fail to prioritize an urgent security concern just days before a customer is supposed to move into a property?
My additional payment deadline is October 29, and my scheduled arrival in Germany is October 30. I am being left in a situation where I must decide whether to make further substantial payments without receiving basic answers about the security of my reservation.
This is completely unacceptable.
HousingAnywhere charges customers a service fee, yet when I urgently need assistance regarding a possible security incident, I cannot get a meaningful response from a human being.
I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for basic accountability, transparency, and customer protection.
At this point, my confidence in HousingAnywhere has been seriously damaged.
I expect HousingAnywhere to:
Investigate how an unknown individual obtained information about my booking.
Confirm whether my personal information or reservation was affected by a security breach.
Explain the security notification reportedly sent to my landlord.
Verify the outstanding payment requests and protect me from penalties while this matter is investigated.
Provide a clear written answer about cancellation and a full refund, including the service fee.
A company should not be collecting substantial payments from customers while leaving urgent security complaints unanswered.
Until HousingAnywhere provides a proper explanation and takes responsibility for investigating this incident, I cannot recommend trusting this platform with sensitive personal information or large accommodation payments.
Customers deserve security, transparency, and real support — not automated apologies when something goes seriously wrong.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone!
I lived here from May to September, and it was the worst apartment I've ever had. In summer it's over 32 °C inside, and both windows face the six-lane Gürtel, so you can't air it out, and constant sirens mean you can only sleep with earplugs. The ventilation pushes cigarette smoke into the bathroom, and in the kitchen you can have either the light or the tap running, not both. The listing looks like a bargain, but with the extra fees it isn't, and the photos are misleading. The company barely replies, and they deducted €150 from my deposit without explanation, even though I left everything spotless

Good and fast system to find and book short-term accommodation, but service charge of 210 EUR is a bit too high.

**Avoid this platform — I don't recommend it**
I would never recommend HousingAnywhere. I paid almost €200 for tenant protection, only to be told that they would not help me with my deposit dispute. What is the point of paying for protection if you are left completely on your own when things go wrong? What is the point of renting through a platform if you are left to deal with disputed deposit deductions on your own when the tenancy ends?
I rented a room in in Frankfurt from a landlord who ignored my complaints about a mouse in the kitchen that was living in the house until end of tenancy. He asked the other tenant to check but never followed up. I was paying a lot for a room with broken heating freezing the last days, yet €20 was deducted for heating anyway. He also deducted disputed short-stay surcharges that I believe were never properly agreed upon. In my experience, the charges lacked transparency and left me questioning how the deposit was handled. When I wanted to extend my stay, he also tried to move the arrangement off-platform and wanted me to cover his additional platform fees if we continued through HousingAnywhere. He also repeatedly brought men to view the property and came to my room without asking my permission while I was still living there.
I documented everything and contacted HousingAnywhere, but they refused to meaningfully help me recover my money. The landlord’s conduct was unacceptable, and HousingAnywhere’s response was just as disappointing. I paid their fees in good faith and received no meaningful support when I needed it. They ignored my requests but seemed to have time to respond to reviews on Trustpilot, which is why I am sharing my experience here.
After I published my review, the landlord sent me a message threatening legal action and referring to possible prison sentences if I published or continued making what he considers false allegations on Trustpilot or elsewhere. I found this response intimidating, especially given that I have documented my complaints and the disputed deductions. This experience has further undermined my confidence in the platform and its tenant protection.
In my experience, this platform is not worth the money or the risk. Be careful, read everything, keep all your evidence, and do not assume tenant protection means you will actually be protected.

It’s been wonderful so far, the facilities are neat, tidy and new as well as comfortable and the rent quite affordable except for the initial additional security and deposit fees, the rent alone is quite affordable

Dovevivo which is thé agency that nina used is the worst agency i have never seen. They took 1 week to send a technician, they often let you without answer for days. The check in is inexistant, they just give you the key and don't show you the appartement.
