I ordered 3 TL-5920/B batteries from TADIRAN BATTERIES, and they sat on my shelf for about six months before I used them. When I did, they were all dead. I didn't think much of it and ordered three more. I needed them right away and discovered they were all dead too. I reached out to them, sent everything they requested, and haven't heard back for six weeks. Thinking it was still a fluke, I ordered three more, and yes, they were all dead as well. This time, we have videos of us opening them, attempting to use them, and showing that they are dead. It takes them weeks to respond to emails, and when they do, you get the runaround. I guess I've finally learned my lesson.

They charged me a re-stocking fee and shipping fee to return the adapters, and I only got refunded 60% of the money I paid.
They don't take any responsibility for shipping something different than what is shown on their site.

And didn’t bother to notify PayPal about order not going through.

My mistake was that I stupidly trusted them in building parts list on their card.
Now I have to start multi hour process of building the parts list again.

Stay away from them!!!

Very slow company

Very slow company. Several days passed, the money was withdrawn, but the order was not even processed. Customer support reps just respond using a script. This is the first—and last—time I will ever buy from them. I'm sorry you're looking for reviews after ordering.

Digikey Cannot Handle Ordering and Shipping

I've made many orders with Digikey, yet for some unknown reason, they delayed my order for 2 days. I reached out via chat, and the agent tried to blame me for not adding a delivery date in the notes for my order. I have never had to do such a thing, or been instructed to do so, on Digikey or any other website. The agent then said the order needed to be reviewed for 2 days. Then told me it shipped without any tracking information.

Update. After 45 mins on chat yesterday and empty promises of item already shipping, I reached out again this evening. In 30 minutes, I was forwarded - without asking- to 4 different ‘levels’ of customer service. One agent said the item was out of stock, another admitted it was in stock, none could explain why the order had not shipped nor when it would. Imagine a company this large who cannot tell customers when their in stock orders will ship?! IME the major sign of a downfall of any business is when they spend more money on ‘customer service bots, and agents’ that are designed to waste customers’ time and never explain or answer questions or resolve anything. It is sadly a tactic to avoid any responsibility, and countless studies show that this behavior will drive away business fast. Is Digikey trying to lose business? No, but they are in damage control mode and cannot manage getting orders from the warehouse to shipment. Sadly, this can snowball in such a way that lost customers truly become a problem fast. I’ve really enjoyed buying from them in the past, and certainly had slow service here and there, but no communication on delays, other then ‘we’re experiencing a delay’ which is only stated after wasting 30 minutes on customer service chat, won’t serve anyone. If their shipping is so disorganized that they can’t account for orders, then it is not a short term problem but one that goes all the way up the chain.

Excuses excuses

Ordered a part, paid for 3-day shipping; three days & no part or tracking number. Called got hung up on from being transferred over 4 times as no one could tell me where the part is and then promised again it would be sent Fed Ex Priority, then that day No Product again. No one is Owning this issue or doing anything to get a label on a small part. Literally they all make up excuses instead of putting a label on a pkg.

Initiated more chats only to find out the first agents had no clue what they were doing. Customer service via email is non-human. They route you to customer service pages instead of trying to resolve your issue. Over a month of back-and-forth. Terrible service.

Getting Worse

I worked for DK for over 20 years. I was proud to work for them. Then they built a new warehouse and the computer system they installed did not work with the original system! So customer service was told to do as little as possible for the customer because of all the issues with the new system! I could not do that, to me it's the customer that makes a company, so I got fired!! Krissy Averill got promoted to be my manager after sleeping her way up and fired me! I have not one good thing to say about that company any more. I wish Ron knew what is going on!!! Very bad, compared to how it used to be!!!!

Digikey is a SCAM!!!

Digikey is a SCAM!!!

Placed an order for panduit tools. Order processed fine. Checked today four days later and my order has been cancelled without communication to me - some "credit card issue." Tammy from Customer sService sent me to Brenda from Credit card processing who told me to email a copy of my drivers license to creditcards at digikey.com

When I asked Brenda if she realized that this sounds like scam she talked over me and said that was "the only way" i was going to get the material.

I escalated through chat with Norman who sent me to Kim. She wasn't interested and stropped answering when i pointed out what was going on.

Stay away. you have been warned

My order was delayed and then got canceled without reason

I am ordering 2 fans for my kid's school projects. I put an order and the next day it shows "unexpected" delayed. I contacted with customer service (via chat) the representative told me my order is waiting for approval and will likely be shipped the next day. 3 days later I contacted with the customer service again, the representative told me the order is still waiting for approval, and will likely be shipped the next day. Since my kid needs it urgently I asked them to change my shipment to be 2nd day delivery.

Then 3 days later, I got an email saying my order has been canceled without any reason.

I ended up by ordering the same products from another website and my order got shipped the next day. My kid's project has been significantly delayed and I will never use Digi-Keys in the future.

The website looks like it's local, but it's not

The website looks like it's local, with top level domain and all, but it's not. We got heavy importation duties worth half the price of the good ordered. I think the website is mislead on purpose and I wouldn't recommend you to order your electronic goods there.

Worst and most unprofessional business…

Worst and most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with.
My business has multiple locations so I ship to different locations from my billing address.
They just randomly cancel orders due to this and don't notify me by email that it has been canceled. I highly recommend doing business with Newark or Mouser.

Failure to sell!

I placed an order with Digi-Key via their French website (digikey.fr) as a private individual residing in France. VAT was properly calculated and paid during checkout. Despite this, my order was later cancelled with the explanation that I had not provided a VAT number — a requirement that does not apply to non-business customers under EU law.

This is a clear violation of EU consumer protection legislation, including Directive 2011/83/EU and the French Code de la consommation (Article L.221-14), both of which prohibit unjustified cancellation of confirmed orders and require that all conditions be clearly stated prior to payment. Digi-Key actively markets to French consumers via a .fr domain, provides a French phone number and email, and collects VAT through the IOSS scheme. Therefore, it is fully subject to French and EU consumer law, regardless of its U.S. headquarters.

What’s even more concerning is the possibility that the customer service decision may have been handled by an offshore support agent, potentially based in the Philippines or another outsourced location, who lacked appropriate training in EU tax and consumer law. The rigid, scripted nature of the response I received suggests a lack of awareness of Digi-Key’s obligations to private customers in the European Union.

This experience reflects poor internal coordination and inadequate customer service training for international transactions. If Digi-Key cannot fulfill EU consumer orders correctly — especially after accepting payment — then they should not advertise local-language services or collect VAT on their EU websites.

Digi-Key's actions appear to violate the following legal instruments:

Directive 2011/83/EU on Consumer Rights

Article 6(1): Requires that all essential pre-contractual information (e.g., conditions of sale, limitations) be provided before a contract is concluded.

Article 16(c): Limits the seller’s right to cancel a concluded contract unless specific exceptions apply.

Directive 2005/29/EC on Unfair Commercial Practices (UCPD)

Articles 6 and 7: Prohibit misleading omissions or deceptive practices that cause consumers to take transactional decisions they otherwise would not have taken.

Regulation (EU) 2019/1150 (P2B Regulation)

Requires transparency of conditions when marketplace suppliers are involved in fulfillment.

EU VAT Regulation under IOSS (Import One-Stop Shop)

Applies to cross-border B2C sales within the EU; VAT is collected at checkout, with no VAT number required from private consumers.

French Code de la consommation

Article L.221-14: Prohibits unjustified cancellation of a concluded consumer contract.

Articles L.121-1 to L.121-4: Prohibit misleading or deceptive commercial practices.

Digi-Key publicly announced on 12 May 2022 that it had implemented the EU’s Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) framework for B2C orders, allowing VAT to be collected at the time of purchase. This is detailed in their press release titled “Digi-Key Electronics Now Offers Improved VAT Experience for European Customers.” The release explicitly states that this measure is designed to eliminate unexpected charges and streamline delivery for European consumers. It further confirms that VAT numbers are only necessary for business customers wishing to defer VAT. This contradicts Digi-Key’s justification for cancelling my order and further supports that the company’s actual operational behavior is inconsistent with both its legal obligations and its public commitments.

Digi-Key's practices appear to reflect systemic non-compliance with EU consumer and VAT law. The recurrence of cancellations and post-payment changes across France and Germany, despite VAT being paid, violates legal protections for consumers and undermines the purpose of the IOSS system.
