Warning: No invoices and impossible to cancel!
The API works as expected, but that's where the good news ends. I can't find any legal info on this company and there's no way to get a B2B invoice. I sent a request on 01/07 and have been ignored ever since (only got the auto-reply).
There is no billing page, no way to cancel the subscription, and you can't even remove your card from the system. It's very strange to have a working product but no actual business transparency. If you need a legal paper trail for your accounting, avoid this place.

Good starting point
Geoplugin gives me a decent starting point when I need country, city, or region details. I wouldn't rely on it alone for sensitive decisions, but for everyday location checks, it does the job well enough.

I requested my account invoice over a month ago and still haven't received a response, despite sending three separate emails. I'm not asking for anything unusual, just a document that should be part of standard service. It feels like customer support simply doesn't exist. Solid API for geo targeting

Helpful for website costumization
Geoplugin allowed us to adjust content based on visitor location. The implementation was fairly straightforward. Accuracy was consistent in most regions we tested. It required some configuration on our side. Overall, it added useful functionality.

Easy to use, limited at scale
I tried GeoPlugin on a client site and setup was painless. Once traffic increased, the limitations became more noticeable. Still useful for smaller projects.

No Free Option; Misleading
Yep. Others here are correct that there is NO FREE OPTION and the home page does in fact mislead. They say accounts are free, but that's just the website sign up (duh); and no credit card is required to sign up, but a paid subscription is required to actually use the API key.
It's a pretty sleazy way to start off, which makes other complaints here believable.

So, geoplugin.com has apparently complained to Trustpilot about my review, saying they need more information from me, but haven't said what specific information that is.
If their public reputation is important to them, perhaps they should stop doing whatever prompted the negative review to begin with, and make a public apology.
Geoplugin.com, please reply here to explain why your website is misleading, and tell me what other information you need - without threatening to take this review down.

we used the ip API to do dynamic currency on our site it's been great for the past 3 years. We're trying out some of the new tools they've put out and they are pretty decent so far. Mainly using geo content and geo pop up for country / language based things
