I was quite happy with my initial contact with the Academy. The woman who got in touch with me for a first call was kind and I felt in good hands. She organized a follow up call to speak about the offer.
As I understood, usually the meeting is 60minutes and 30minutes before she would usually do a tech check. As my meeting was on saturday on which she did not work, she asked to check that everything worked before the meeting as to not lose time.
All was well so far.
During the meeting I was informed of the steps we would go through and I would get an offer at the end of the call if everything was fine on both sides.
I asked about how the prices are determined (since I didnt find information on this on the website) and as I understood; 2000EUR for those with previous voice experience like singers, radiohosts, etc.., 4000EUR for those who would need extra help for example if you speak with a lisp or heavy accent, and 3000EUR for everything in between.
He explained what was included in the course which was access to the learning portal with videos, daily tech checks(for when needed), weekly meetings you could join from known voices from the industry, set up of a profile incl voice recordings and proper pictures as well as information on equipment and guidance to the works of the job market. A minimum of 5h work on the course per week was recommended, the duration would generally be ca 3 months after which you receive online support for another 3 months. (I may have forgotten to include some things, these are the parts I wrote down)
At the end of the meeting I felt well informed and happy, so I was asked to confirm if I would like to join. I said that although I felt good about the meeting, I would like to sleep on the decision as it is a lot of money.
Here he started pushing for a reason why I would not say yes immediately and was not satisfied with my answer. I felt pressured to give more explanation so I said I didnt see a lot of independent reviews other than on trustpilot which is why I had wanted the meeting; to speak to a employee, after which he said if there is no trust then he did not want to work with me. I clarified that it was the reason I had wanted a meeting and that I had now felt quite good about everything up until this point, but I still wanted to sleep on it. He then claimed he had already felt during the meeting that I was going to say no anyway (then why continue the meeting?) and to take my time and then let him know what he already knew. As I had mentioned I was with my parents and therefor would be a bit longer to reply, he said that parents and partners never trust the company as they weren't in the meeting and would talk me out of it.
In my opinion if it really is a great offer then it should sound just as good to anyone who is not present in the meeting. My brother was in the same room and although his knowledge of german is limited, he immediately looked up and confused after I had said I needed time. Afterwards he told me that the mood suddenly felt hostile.
In the end I left with a bad feeling about the whole thing and so will not end up doing the course and will not recommend anyone to apply either.
