Cheap to use, cheap on ethics & values.

Cheap to use and also cheap on values and ethics. Customer service is poor and as other reviewers have said fraudulent practices. Good luck getting any coherent responses from their contact portal and staff. Incoherent promises of refunds due to the closures and it seems I am not the only one that experienced this. The only option is to get a lawyer involved because no matter how much you talk to them, you won’t get anywhere. Spend that little extra at other gyms and enjoy better service and less fraudlike practices.

Avoid this gym if you can

Avoid this gym if you can, forcing payments, bad staff, slow custom service, horrible horrible horrible. Hard to end the contract, after youre late 1 day they give the payment to debt collection firm and they force extra fees on your debt. AVOID BASEFIT , Jona, Pffefikon SZ , horrible.!

Bad staff and costumer service

One day I was training, one of the staff come to me speaking in German, I told him sorry I do not speak German, and continued to train. Afterward, when I finished I was already outside the facility their staff continued to try talking to me in German, which I do not understand. I did not have time to continue trying to understand what he was saying I did go. he followed me running to the lift and blocked me from taking it, therefore I did take the stairs. Afterward, his manager called me, telling me that you told bad words in German (Which I do not speak), the he told you said bad words in English, then he told me you did not return the disk, then told me that you did not give one minute to talk to the staff, and then he told me that there was another staff that witness, he was fishing for a problem, to justify his staff behavior. I did read the bad reviews and this is why I did take just a one month contract the first and the last. Absolutely, disgusting company, I do not know how you are allowed to operate in Switzerland.

Basefit, scam, resiliation, customer service from the 70's

If you are looking for a gym that spent time thinking how to make it difficult for you to resign instead of enhancing the customer experience you are at the right place.

In case you want to resign, you have to send post mail along a post on the website interface exactly 3 month in advance in order to cancel your abo. Basefit spams you with SMS offers and emails all the time, but of course nothing is done to let you know that the date for resiliation is approaching. In case you are 1 day late on it, you still have 3 month of training paid for but you will HAVE to pay for next year.

The customer service is not willing to do anything "we stick to the contract". Well. First time ever I write a negative review for anything.

Never EVER give your custom to Basefit

Never EVER give your custom to Basefit. Their customer service is the most atrocious I have ever been made to come across. From the beginning, they made an error regarding my membership. I leave Basefit and cue two months of getting them to own up to the refund I am entitled to, eventually they do and STILL not getting anywhere with receiving the refund. It must be a one person business because they don’t answer to emails, even going on from 2/3 weeks. Their customer service is insulting and belittling. Trying to get assistance from Facebook page is near to impossible, from email is impossible. The gyms are not the best and they don’t allow deadlifting as not on ground floor. AVOID!! PLEASE Basefit! Sort out my account.

Even one star is generous for the type…

Even one star is generous for the type of service from the staff on site, not to mention the overall customer experience which I had there.

Auto renewal of subscription is one thing, but doing everything electronically, including issuing bills, and then have those go to Spam is unacceptable. They do this on purpose, including sending a huge fine for not having paid the bill on time, even though you A) did not realize you were still a member due to auto renewal and B) that you had received bills for this, because they are all sent via email and in spam due to the terrible mailing reputation their domain has.

If you are considering a gym in Switzerland, do yourself a favour, save the hassle and do not go with Basefit.

Basefit Altstetten

I am am member of Basefit Altstetten for a few years now. It is a bit far for me but I think is the best of the clubs Basefit in Zurich. The manager Namik does a good job and it is always clean including changing room and showers. I tried last weekend Kalkbreite and was a very disappointing experience. Dirty and had not a very good impression. The central administration is a disaster as many reviews are mentioning it. Now the clubs are sold to a new ownership and hope the realise this and will change it.
I can only recommend Basefit Altstetten.

These guys make it very hard to cancel…

These guys make it very hard to cancel contract. They act as if physical nor electroni mail didn't arrive. I gave them a letter on paper and delivered it with my own hands and a year after I said bye bye they still send me invoices.
I live abroad now and theres no way to contact with them. Contact form on a website doesnt work, they ignore email and phone
Guys from basefit if you read this: invoice with a reference num 98 88840 90009 42570 00016 32734 (Forderungs-Nr. 1350950) was issued unlawfully and if you wont cancel my subscripton and I receive one more invoice FCAB is going to get involved.

This is the worst gym I have ever…

This is the worst gym I have ever joined. The machines are always broken and dirty, in many branches you have to pay for the showers which are just nasty looking anyway. There's no "group fitness" like pilates or aerobics, it's just a room with a big screen, so you can basically do the same workouts you could do at home watching youtube for free. The Staff is not helpful or friendly at all, they just stand there and almost never even properly greet the people walking in. This gym makes it practically impossible to quit and they have some very questionable strategies to do this. I don't recommend this gym at all, it's a waste of money.

Low cost gym / low cost customer service

Basefit is a chain of low cost / discount gyms in Switzerland. That should tell you enough about the customer experience with them.

I'll start with the positives:
- It's cheap (for Switzerland anyways)
- Long opening hours even on weekends
- Rather clean
- Pretty well equipped

On to the negatives:
- It's cheap, so your customer experience will be on par with what you pay for. Be very careful before you sign a contract with them because cancelling it is quite the hassle and the contracts are automatically renewed every year (or every second year). You have to ask at least 3 month before the end-date to officially cancel your subscription. Want to cancel after that? Well too bad, you are sh-t out of luck! Forget to pay early enough? Enjoy your late fees! No negotiation possible of course. You thought this was a civilized place? Welcome to the world of discount fitness studios!

Needless to say, any early cancellation request is a complex process and of course, good luck getting any of your money back even if you are laying on a hospital bed. I guess harassing them on social media is probably the only way to get things done?

- The staff: nothing more than glorified janitors from what I could see. Don't really expect much out of them. Again, they aren't really well paid so it's pretty understandable that they don't really care about you that you're pretty much on your own. But if you know what you want to do and how to use the equipment, you can always ask other gym members for recommendations or coaching, at least that's what I do.

- No airco and poor air circulation in the one that I'm going to, forget about going there in the middle of the summer.

stay away from the basefit gym

stay away from the basefit gym. Apart from them being a bad gym with incredibly rude staff, they also rip you off. There is a paragraph in the contract details that says that if you move, and your new home is more than 20 km from a basefit club, you are entitled to cancel your contract and will get the money that's "left" that year, back. I moved, and emailed them with the proper documents. They replied "send us proof that you are moving" so I sent them the exact same documents again. So they cancelled my contract and I got a confirmation the 6th of May that the contract was cancelled. I then replied, ok how do I get my money back? as there was no such information in any of their emails. And they have not replied! I have written them several reminders and they simply do not reply. They replied to all my emails up until I asked them about my money back, and that moment they started to ignore me.

Worst customer experience I have ever had.

Here is what happened:

1. I signed up for a 7 days free trial promotion, that I never got to use, because I was told that their system was overloaded and I did not show up in the system. I asked if I could be unsubscribed since I couldn't use their service, but this was impossible since I was not in the system. I was told that I would have to sign up again, with a paid subscription.

2. I used the contact form on their site to cancel my subscription within the trial period. I never received an answer.

3. A couple of weeks later I signed up for a paid subscription, since I had not heard anything from the company. I paid the full amount for a year.

4. At the gym I was told, that I would have to pay an extra fee of 49 CHF. They could not tell me why, nor were they able to receive any payments, because their systems were - again - not working.

5. When I asked about it next time, I was told that I owed no such amount and everything was fine.

6. A couple of weeks later I received a bill for the 49 CHF without any explanation. I again used their contact page to send an inquiry about the amount. I never received an answer.

7. I received another bill with an additional fee of 10 CHF for not paying on time. I used their facebook page to ask about the bill, but they were unable to help and gave me email address that I could use.

8. I sent an email asking for an explanation, and a couple of days later i received an email explaining that the extra fee was for the period between my trial subscription and my paid subscription. I wrote back explaining that I had cancelled my trial subscription and had not been able to use the facilities between my trial and paid subscription.

9. It's been three weeks and I have sent the same e-mail to them multiple times explaining the situation but no response. I only got another bill for the period with an additional fee of 10 CHF for late payment.

The issue is still unresolved, and it seem that there is no one I can contact about the problem. I am only met with complete silence, while the bill accumulates extra fees for not being paid.

This is by far the worst customer service I have ever received by any company. Stay away!
