My mother is 98 years old and in a nursing home. We have tried on several occasions to cancel her ADT. After several phone calls, they want documentation she is indeed in a nursing home. We supplied that.
They continually charged her for the service, they also told us that her equipment is now obsolete, and still are charging her full price. Due to the fact that they are billing her it has caused her bank account to go into the negative. We explained this to them, to which they could care less. They would not do anything for us, and have no consideration that this woman is 98 and in a nursing home, they care more about their money.
A big company like ADT versus a 98 year-old how sad is that. do not use ADT, all they care about is their bottom line. They will bill you full price on equipment that is no longer in use.
Beware of ADT Hendersonville TN. Negligent $4,500 installation. Won’t reply to messages. Stay away!
We’ve had ADT for about a year. I called them because I had a question and the representative began to over talk me and bombarded the whole conversation. I called them with a concern and she would not be quiet for one second to listen to me. The encounter was so weird to me, for a so called professional to behave the way she did. Imagine having a contract with them and having to deal with them until your contract is up? I don’t want to ever have to call them again! It was truly a horrible experience!
A 2nd rate contractor company wearing a ADT name tag…I purchased a plan…the tech comes in and turns out it’s his brother…the sensors on the windows fell off…he came back the next day…put them back on…2 days later they fell off…the control panel went blank…turns out he did not install it properly so I fixed it…I called to complain and they said I had 3 days to break the contract! They give you 3 freaking DAYS! So here we sit…all the ADT equipment off the doors, windows, cameras…etc in a box…we purchased our own and pay $23 a month. Oh the salesman not 1 brother but 2! I blame myself for purchasing it but I blame ADT for faulty equipment…they offered to send a “ADT TECH” I don’t want those clowns in my house! If there was a way I would give them a 1/4 star! The lady on the phone said someone high up would call me…he or she never did! What joke!
ADT scams elderly widows with extended contracts when the husband on the account dies. Had service 7 years already. We called to change the account owner to his widow and continue same service. They said she had to have her own account. They didn't reveal it was a new contract with different terms, different charges, and required paying the full contract to cancel. We only found out when the bill was double and tried to cancel. While grieving the loss of a military family member, ADT is treated us like a criminal organization looking for easy victims.
I was a SAFES Home Security customer for 13 years and ADT bought out SAFES late 2025. I called ADT and cancelled my service in July 2026 due to not being satisfied with their service, and went with BRINKS Security, and had all new equipment installed. I am still receiving a freaking bill. I called in August and was told I have a contract and cannot cancel. I did not sign a contract with ADT, So the contract is a 6 year contract started in 2024 and ends in 2029. WTH... I did not sign a 6 year contract, the contract was under my husbands name and he passed away, but I was told that if I do not pay I will be sent to collections, or I can pay $1400 to get out the contract. I have requested twice for them to send me a copy of the contract so I can see who signed it!!! I HATE this company, So I have to pay for a service I am not receiving. if something happens in my home, ADT is not going to call the police etc. Their equipment is not even in my house... SMDH... I am retired on a fix income... So this truly upset me
We had a contract with Alder and we had cancelled it. ADT acquired Alder and produced a signed contract, that we did not sign extending our contract.
We had problems with Alder equipment and couldn’t get it to work. Once Alder was acquired the only option was to purchase new ADT equipment for a service we had notified them that we were canceling.
Fast forward. We’re at the end of the extension contract and mysteriously a new contract was signed on our behalf. The contract was an Alder contract which was dated post acquisition. Signed by my husband using his nickname not his real legal name.
Trying to cancel service for a family member that passed away. First get AI, then switched to someone who apparently can't help, then on hold again. Was on hold with them last week for about an hour and had to hang up. I don't have all day and they never answer the phone. The worst customer service ever!
Very disappointing experience as a longtime ADT customer.
I was an ADT customer for approximately 10 years at my previous home, so I was already familiar with ADT and expected better customer service.
I recently purchased a home that already had an ADT Command system installed. I contacted ADT because I wanted to use the existing system without professional monitoring or a long-term contract. I simply wanted to know what options were available to access the system and reset the existing Master User Code.
After going through the digital assistant and being transferred to the Resales Team, I spent quite a bit of time trying to get a straightforward answer. Instead, I was repeatedly encouraged to schedule a free consultation.
I was eventually told that monitoring starts at $39.99/month, but when I asked about a month-to-month option for my existing system, I was told that month-to-month is only available for DIY systems and that professionally installed systems require a 12–36 month agreement.
That was a dealbreaker for me. I have no interest in committing to a 12–36 month contract simply to regain access to equipment that is already installed in my home.
What frustrated me most was how difficult it was to get a simple, direct answer. I wasn’t asking for a complicated quote. I just wanted to know whether I could use my existing system without committing to a long-term monitoring contract.
After being an ADT customer for 10 years, this experience left a very bad impression. I ultimately decided not to become an ADT customer again and will look into other options for the existing equipment.
I expected much better from a company I had trusted for so many years.
One star bc its the lowest I could go. ADT installed yesterday. One of the cameras wasn't working when the tech left. He told us to go buy Google Mesh. We did still not working. This camera is less than 2 feet from the other they are just pointing in opposite directions. The app will only let one of us use it at a time. If my husband is viewing cameras it kicks me off my app etc. His name is with my email and mine with his. 2 hours on the phone with tech support got is no where 2 weeks to get a tech out to fix the issues. Blink cameras worked better.
You call tech support you get a robot. 30 mins later you get some dumb lady from india you can't hear. Another 20 min to give me an available time 2 weeks out for a tech to come out. Absolutely shit company.
Your customer service sucks. ADT are a bunch of thieves plus the equipment is the worse. Do not get a contract with ADT. They over charge your account then they come out with bullshit excuses and you never get your money back. Stay away from them

Garbage. Noisy and impossible to work with. The front door camera broke often. Had a huge issue with the doorbell ringing itself relentlessly. The camera quality itself was grainy and didn't register people if they were more than 10 ft away, and the audio wasn't any better. They even changed it out 3 times in 3 years. The equipment is junk.
The app had connectivity issues. Sensors keep saying that they're tampered when we just touched the doorknob. The temperature/weather was never correct.
They fought tooth and nail to prevent cancellation and told us at that time that the equipment couldn't be removed because someone else might want to use it if we ever sold our house, and today they can't remove it because we no longer have a contract.
Now, suddenly, after being out of contract, their equipment is making so much noise. Feels like being coerced back into a contract just to get it to stop.
Absolute garbage equipment and worthless customer service. We bought a $25 camera on Amazon that has a clearer image, a farther range, and no contract. We are having to hire a contractor to remove this junk. Please, don't use ADT. They are a SCAM!

After having the service for 29 years, I needed the wires removed as they were coming up from the carpet. They told me it would costs 1500 for a new system. I can't tell you all issues I have had with them over the years. I asked for a manager to get back to me. I was told someone was call me back and it has been 4 days, still no call. Also notice they charged my credit card for work not done. Stay away from this horrible company. I cancelled. They don't care they lost a customer.

**Extremely Disappointed with ADT – Misleading Information and a Huge Waste of Time**
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with ADT and the way my billing issue has been handled.
Before my installation, I spoke with **two different ADT agents**, and both confirmed the same pricing: **$10.59 per month for the equipment and $40.49 per month for monitoring**. Based on that information, I understood that I would be paying the equipment financing monthly over the 24-month term.
When the technician came to install the equipment, I decided that I wanted to pay a portion upfront. The technician ended up charging me **$635.65 upfront for the equipment**, which was already processed. He then told me that I would still pay the **$40.49 monthly monitoring fee**.
After doing the math, I realized that I would effectively be paying **$381.49 more over the 24-month period** than what I was originally told I would pay under the monthly equipment financing arrangement. When I contacted ADT to resolve the discrepancy, I was told that because I had already paid for the equipment in full upfront, I was no longer eligible for the discounted monthly financing rate.
This has been an absolute nightmare. I have spent **the past three weeks calling ADT more than 10 times**, explaining the same situation over and over again to different representatives. Each time, I had to start from the beginning and repeat everything.
During my last call, the representative told me that the **local branch would contact me** to resolve the issue, potentially by providing a credit or refund. I waited, but **no one ever contacted me**. Today, I had to call ADT again myself, only to be told essentially the same thing—that because I had already paid the equipment upfront, there was nothing they could do.
After three weeks of calls and countless hours of my time, the "resolution" was a **one-time $40.49 credit**, which is simply one month of monitoring. I was also offered a free smoke detector or key fob, neither of which I need or asked for. I declined and asked if they could provide additional credit toward my bill instead. I was told they couldn't do anything further and that I would have to **call back next month to ask for another credit**.
Why should I have to keep calling every month to receive credits to resolve a problem that was caused by inconsistent information from ADT in the first place?
This has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The amount of money is one issue, but the bigger issue is the **lack of accountability, poor communication, and the amount of time ADT has wasted** trying to get this resolved.
I relied on the information provided by ADT representatives when making my decision. If two different agents confirmed the same monthly pricing, customers should be able to trust that information. Instead, after the payment was processed, I was essentially told that there was nothing ADT could do.
**I will absolutely not be renewing with ADT after my 24-month term, and I will never use ADT again.** There are plenty of other home security companies out there, and customer service like this is not worth the hassle.
**Very disappointing experience. I would strongly recommend getting everything in writing and carefully reviewing the payment structure before committing to ADT.**

Please explain how you charge a fee to check equipment that belongs to your company, you had a 83yr old. Get on the ladder to check the system and showed that no battery issue and it was determined that it in the system, rep comes to house before checking anything say and state 184 labor and 59,99 fee crazy for what , to treat seniors this way is beyond in humane,. ADT this is disappointing to say the least. Horrible for a 20yr client.

Oh man… The cameras and system are okay. Customer service? Horrible. Took me 5 different phone calls to get my service canceled. When I did, they told me I still keep my service for 30 days!!! I moved and had access to SOMEONE ELSES HOME SECURITY SYSTEM FOR 30 days!!!
Ridiculous. Then, they have the balls to try and charge me for the additional 30 days after taking up 2 hours of my time dealing with their incompetencies?? Request a manager call me back multiple times and never got a call.
Horrible and will NEVER recommend or use them again

As I called ADT during August, prior to the expiration of the contract (August 21, 2026), the Customer Service/Salesman offers me options to continue the service with a new system. Note, ADT is aware that my system has not been operational since April 1, 2026 (last 5 months), but ADT partially charged for July and August. When I informed him that I made a decision to discontinue their service when the contract end (August 21, 2026), he (ADT) cancelled the service immediately. First, I would have to be STUPID to renew service with a company that can not resolve the existing problem. Second, billing for services that one has not provided services, is legally called Unjust Enrichment.

⭐ 1 Star – Extremely Disappointing ADT+ Experience
Unfortunately, my experience with ADT+ has been extremely disappointing. I had the service for less than one month, yet I was charged an $854 early termination fee.
The initial installation took place at the end of July 2026. The technician installed an alarm keypad and one motion camera; however, the additional security cameras were never installed because they were determined to be incompatible with our existing Wi-Fi system. The complete system I expected was never successfully installed.
ADT should clearly inform customers before signing a service contract about the Wi-Fi requirements and compatibility of its security cameras. Compatibility should be determined before equipment is sold and a customer is placed under contract—not after installation has already begun.
Technicians came to our home more than three times attempting to address the issues, but the complete system was still never installed.
I was also told by the technician that I had three months to cancel the service. When I later contacted ADT Customer Service, I was informed that the cancellation period was actually only three days. I relied on the information provided by the technician, making this discrepancy particularly concerning.
I have contacted ADT more than six times trying to resolve this matter. I was repeatedly transferred from one customer-service representative or department to another and placed on hold for up to 30 minutes at a time.
After having ADT+ for less than one month, dealing with an incomplete installation, multiple technician visits, incompatible cameras, and numerous customer-service calls, I was still charged an $854 early termination fee.
I am requesting a full refund of the $854 termination fee. I do not believe it is reasonable to charge such a substantial termination fee under these circumstances, particularly when the complete system was never successfully installed and the service was active for less than a month.
I expected professional installation, accurate information, and responsive customer service from ADT. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
I hope ADT takes this matter seriously, refunds the $854 fee, and improves how equipment compatibility and cancellation terms are communicated to customers.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend ADT+.
