The Canada Bereavement Registry is a free consumer service that helps put a stop to telemarketing calls and direct mail addressed to people who have died, reducing the levels of distress caused to the relatives and friends who receive them. Everyone receives direct mail and phone calls from organizations selling their products and services or for fundraising purposes. Unless these organizations are informed that a customer, donor or prospect on their database has died, they will continue to contact that person.
