Ryobi garden vac blower bought October…

Ryobi garden vac blower bought October 2025. June 2026 while using it one of the wheels fell off! Axle (plastic) had broken. Went on line and found others who had the same problem and at least one more only got 8 months out of it. Problem due to design faults - material too thin and radius where it joins the main body too small. Closer examination showed a classical fatigue failure - only a small portion actually broken - the final straw - with fatigue markings covering most of the separated area. Rang them and they said take it back to Bunnings and it would be exchanged - which it was. However, after registering it for the 'extended warranty - it was 4 plus 2 years before - found it is now 3 plus 1 year! Shows real confidence in the product. In use, it is very noisy, especially on vacuum and the switch requires a 2 second hard push to turn it on. Not easy if you are elderly like me. I suspect it is a repaired unit. If i was in their management I would cringe. The part that fails is a moulding, easy to replace. Doing so would save a lot of aggravation and expense to the company.

Ryobi 80V HP™ Brushless 54” not mowing long stalks on first cut

I bought a Ryobi 80V HP™ Brushless 54” Zero Turn Ride-On Mower, which is Ryobi’s top of the range electric mower for $13K in 09/2024 and would like to share my experience with this product and with Ryobi Support.

Since this date I had to replace 3 defective 80V batteries and 1 defective 36V battery, a defective armrest and one defective blade adapter, all under warranty.

This is annoying enough in particular because of the high fault rate of the batteries and the fact that the new replacement batteries were up to more than 3 years old. But the real problem with the mower is on a different level.

I found that the mower does simply not mow longer stalks of grass in one cut, even if the actual overall height of the grass is very low. This requires me to mow the area with long stalks twice and in my case, this basically means I am mowing the whole area twice, since there are always a few long stalks everywhere.

After doing some research I found that this problem is caused by the design of the blades Ryobi uses, which are producing insufficient updraft for the long stalks to be fully pulled into the blades during first cut.

I asked Ryobi for alternative, high updraft, blades but found out that there are no such blades available for this mower. When I asked for the reason for this lack of alternative blades Ryobi claimed that this problem is unique to me.

No other customer has ever complaint about this problem they said. That is also the reason as per why they will not develop and offer an optional set of high updraft blades which would resolve this problem.

I do not believe that other customers do not have the same problem and would like to encourage those of you who do use the same mower and do have the same problem to come forward and do two things:
1) Comment of this review with the experience you made
2) Get in touch with Ryobi via email (use the Ryobi support email) and let them know that this is a common problem, while referring to my case number (Ref No. 04980921)

Hopefully this will motivate Ryobi to do the right thing and make some high updraft blades available in the near future.

In summary:
Based on the experience I made with the Ryobi 80V HP™ Brushless 54” Zero Turn Ride-On Mower I cannot recommend this product.
Based on the experience I made with Ryobi Support I cannot recommend Ryobi in general.

Absolutely do not buy Ryobi

Absolutely do not ever buy a product from this company! I purchased an edger from the expand it range… the product was barely out of warranty and failed, a small part is required… contact them for replacement part (fully intending to pay) and they tell me the part is no longer available and they are sorry for any inconvenience…. So now I’m up for another $160. …. Absolutely SHIT service

Ryobi Special deals a scam

After being a loyal Ryobi customer with over 55 tools I fell prey to one of their email "Special offers". The conditions of this offer was that to become eligible for the offer you had to buy one of the tools listed.
I checked the tool list and purchased "18v One + cordless hammer drill tool only". However in the fine print, low lighted in grey, the number of the tool that I bought was RPD18X. The tool that was eligible was listed as above only in the grey low light it was RPD18C, so the deal was not honoured. if you bother to look at these two products on line you will see that images of the actual tools look exactly the same except for this number. This deal was obviously set up to mislead. If you like their tools, that's fine but be aware if you are interested in any unsolicited offers, you will need to give them a great deal of scrutiny as they are deliberately misleading.

Had one of these for about six months

I had one of these for about six months. It worked reasonably well, but, Dear God, the noise was like standing next to a jet engine.
I had to flog it off on Gumtree and bought a Dyson V8. Way better choice.
I simply can't believe that the dudes designing these things are so brain dead that they just ignore the regrettable "screaming" of this contraption!!!
