we made the trip from Le puy to Conques. the info on the La Balaguere website is 100% correct. they have taken care of all logements, and transport of our luggage. (1 day something went wrong (not the responsabilite of La balaguere), and it was within some hoursd corrected)
congratulations and thanks
Our trip was perfectly organised. Our guide Pierre had a lot of experience in the mountains and was very nice. Thank you for a great experience.
We enjoyed the entire trip from Le Puy to Conques. But we do have some comments. The overnight stays in the gîtes d'étape were generally good despite the dormitories. The dinner was good to very good, but the minimal French breakfast is worthless. You can't walk 20 km on an old piece of baguette with jam, not even if the jam is homemade. Just a few times some fruit or yogurt. Only the breakfast in Le Puy was good. The showers at La Grappiere in Nasbinal were very poor. Too small, you can't even stand up straight under the shower. The people in all the gîtes were very kind. The transport of the luggage was super good.

Well organised - we received all the documentation before the trip. Transport of baggage worked perfectly and the accomodation was of a good level. The directions were clear with the exception of the warning for the section to avoid for people scared of heights - although this was marked at the beginning of the day, the moment to take the deviation was not specified and we found ourselves on the side of a cliff!
We only had one minor glitch on the trip. Sometimes our reservation name was not clear. I expected it to be under the name: BLAESER but sometimes it was 'Something Natur' and another time 'another name'. This created delays at the airport upon our arrival and at our hotel in El Madano (the first check in). After that it went more smoothly when checking in. Really not a big problem.
We were a party of friends on a walking holiday in the Western Pyrenees over ten days. All the arrangements were really good. The guides (Mandy and Celine and Megan) were excellent. They looked after us very well, spoke good English, and were very willing and able to be adaptable and flexible.
All the accommodation and food was very good, with warm and comfortable rooms and great food.
We really enjoyed our holiday - thank you!
The hiking trip goes through a fantastic area and that is the main attraction point. La Balaguère should provide better info on the infrastructure to ensure people know they will sleep in tiny rooms together with 14 people, that towels are not provided. The guide was professional in the technical and organisational aspects of the trip but lacked in interpersonal and communication skills: correcting people for small language mistakes in front of a whole group at multiple times, being abrasive in response to normal question is unacceptable. So for the guide I would score this trip 3/5, the balaguere communication 3/5, the facilities 4/5, the trail 5/5.

We are very content with the service! The communication was good and everything went smoothly. The lodgings were great and luggage carrying service perfect. Very satisfied also with the shuttle service of La Malle Postale which we had booked through La Balaguère.
Some of the lodgings were off the main GR65 trail, but we found that the paths which led to there where really beautiful and the lodgings totally worth a little detour.

Our luggage was always at our hotel when we arrived. What this company needs to work on is communication.
We did not get the travel information promised. We requested some of our travel information in advance so we could plan. Specifically, we wanted information about the included dinners. We were told that the restaurant vouchers and all information would be at our first hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, our information package was not there. Fortunately, the hotel gave us another guest’s package so that we had the luggage transfer tags needed. But we had no additional information on the included dinners.
The hiking directions are poorly translated and ambiguous. It appears that a non-English writer produced the directions and did a poor job translating and proofreading them. In some cases, the directions made no sense - not just grammatically – as they did not communicate how to proceed.
Dinners were not provided as advertised. When we enquired about the included dinners, we were told that we would be given a choice of three menu options. For three of the five nights, the menu had no options. With only one exception, every dinner was fish or seafood. For three of the five dinners, the menu option was paella. Who goes on holiday to eat the same meal every night?
We do not recommend this travel company.
