Hi, I was a part of the booking that almost, but thankfully, did not stay at McKillop Street in Geelong (via Gold Star Stays) on the weekend of Friday 26 March. Not only did we experience a number of serious indecencies by John in the lead up to our stay, but we had to cancel it in fear of our safety, and now continue to receive calls from John and have since been charged double leaving us out of pocket. It appalls me to see that this listing is still active on many accommodation websites and we genuinely fear for those considering staying there. We are urging that this listing is taken down, John is blacklisted from such sites, our money is returned in full, and we are compensated for this traumatic and time-consuming experience. My partner booked this accomodation for us and our friends for a holiday. We didn’t end up going as the behaviour of the host prior to the booking was highly concerning. He called my partner multiple times after 9pm, asking her who was coming and at what time. At that stage she was going to go alone for one of the two nights or with her girlfriends. He kept asking her if males were going to be there and what she was going to be doing and at what times. He also asked what time each female was arriving. Honestly I would avoid this place at all costs.

I did not stay at this property as I experienced discrimination and harassment over the phone by the host. John wanted to know the arrival time of each of my guests, and what sex and age they were. He specifically asked if there was going to be any men accompanying me. I was planning to come alone for the first night, and he called me three times after 9pm to confirm "what girls were going". I sought to cancel this through the livechat on your website due to concerns for my safety, where I was told by the agent that he needed to know the "sex of the guests so he make arrangements for beds". As a member of the LGBTQi community, I find this highly offensive and discriminatory. The place is an apartment, which I assume is already furnished. I do not believe it is any of the hosts business about the sleeping arrangements for a group of 29+ year olds on holiday. After my complaint, he told the booking.com agent that if it was all girls, he would put in single beds. He also asked me on the phone if I was going to be bringing any men back from the pub, which is absolutely ridiculous and frankly upsetting. As a business traveller and owner, and long time user of booking.com, I am highly disappointed with the way this has been dealt with to date. I've been charged in full for this booking + a $200 "deposit, with no contact since.
