I have been working with GBW (formerly GAP buster ww) for a few years, but my recent experience has been extremely disappointing. After months of completing assignments, they have refused to pay me the money I am owed, simply because I do not want to open a PayPal account. Despite using other payment methods in the past, they now insist on PayPal, which I do not wish to use.
For months, they’ve been pushing me to comply with this, but my attempts to find an alternative solution have been ignored. This has forced me to hire a lawyer and take legal action to recover my unpaid earnings. I would strongly caution anyone considering working with them to be aware of their questionable practices and lack of support for basic payment issues.”

I have been doing mystery shopping for many years. This company was formerly known as Gapbuster, but it looks like it has changed hands. I did plenty of shops for Gapbuster before, and they gave both a reimbursement of expenses and a reasonable shopping fee. Occasionally they would have some better paying ones as well.
The new version of this company, SonataGBW, has different clients than before, for the most part. And their offers for reimbursement are very low. Usually they are asking for work without pay, and only offering a reimbursement of mandatory purchase of a very small amount that you must make during the shop. I don't work for low fees.
They tried for years to get me to shop for them, but without a proper offer, I refused. Recently, they offered me a decent couple of assignments, and I took them. I was a little concerned about payment, when the promised date came and went without pay. I had invested many miles of travel and time into the work. They were supposed to pay a few weeks into the month after the assignment date.
But, a few days later, and I have been paid in full. They did everything as promised. So I still have faith in them. Might work for them again if all goes well.
Have completed one mystery shopping task for this company, four months later still not been paid!

I've had a fantastic experience working as a mystery shopper for GBW. Their support and responsiveness have been top-notch, ensuring I always have the assistance I need. While there was a payment delay last year, I'm pleased to say that GBW promptly resolved the issue. I highly recommend them for their professionalism and commitment to resolving any issues that may arise.

I put an enquiry in about being paid as its been six weeks. I was told "Actually we take 6 weeks at the end of the month of the assignment to process the payment.
For example, if you have done assignment in June, the process will start at the end of June and you should receive your payment at around the second week of August (6 weeks after end of June)."
I have two emails I received on 13/06/23 & 13/07/23 they both state 6 WEEKS to be paid, with no mention of having to wait until the end of the month. This comes across to me as you are delaying and putting off paying me and changing the terms after I have done the job. I helped and did these assignments last minute and rearranged my plans for you and now you have refusing to pay in the set out time frame. Seems like a massive scam. I will happily change this review once you pay me for the SEVEN assignments I have completed.

They owe me £100's in mystery shopper jobs. They do not pay. They ignore all communications. I will now take them to court and will be contacting all of their clients e.g. Shell and Currys to make sure they know there are better mystery shopper platforms to work with.

Do not trust this it is 100 percent a scam. I wanted very much for this to be a real opportunity. My husband told me this was fake when they sent me a check for $1,950.00 telling me to put it in my bank account keep $400 for myself and to mystery shop the rest in gift cards sending them the pictures of the card numbers. If you do this they will take the money from the gift cards and you will be blamed for the fraud or made to pay the money back to your bank. I am so glad I listened to my husband he told me not to take it to my bank that if I didn’t believe it was fake take it to a check cashing place and they will cash it if the check is real. When I did exactly that they told me the check was fraudulent. I fully believe the few good reviews were posted by this company to make themselves look legit. Do not trust them. When you search the info they send you on your paperwork it does not even match it is under a different company. Do not be swayed, if it seems too good to be true it usually is.
DO NOT TAKE PART IN RESEARCH FOR THEM!. I took part in two Apple Observations. One at the end of January and one start of February. After the January one I saw trust pilot reviews and said I wouldn't take part in the second one due to the payment issues. Was reassured this wasn't a problem anymore and it was all sorted. I would be paid on time with no issue, so i went ahead and did it. ALL LIES. 9th March I have been told the first one was paid. But no funds. Told to wait 3-5days for payment. NO MONEY. Then told to provide screenshot of banking and my PayPal. Provided both and told its going to be another 2 weeks waiting. WHY? This was meant to be paid on the 9th. I shouldn't be waiting 8 weeks for a payment. Each time I write to them they message back but resolve the query when it's quite clearly not resolved. Meaning I have to write a new query each time. I'm now financially worse off having to wait even longer to be paid. AVOID THEM its not worth the hassle. The second observation hadn't even been marked nor the payment in processing. I will still chase for the £190 I'm owed but I'm no longer doing any research for them.
I have carried out several assignments and so far they have always been on time. For now, all I need is the payments for the October assignments but they should arrive within these days. The only flaw is that they respond after several days and there is no live chat.
I'm waiting for an answer for the payment of the October assignments...

I have completed several assignments with GBW. I understood the payment schedule going in so the delay in pay was not unexpected. Communication has been good and responses have been timely. I’m not sure what the bad reviews are for. I work with over 15 companies at any given time and have felt that GBW values its evaluators.

Absolute SCAM...I completed two assignments in August, then they say there is a 6 week delay in processing invoices, then they mark down that I have been paid by BACS. Sent copies of my bank statements to prove I have not been paid, then silence! Despite numerous emails and enquiries, I have still not been paid...DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME...I wish I had looked at these reviews first

I performed a retail shop for them that involved buying an item over $40.00. I completed the shop successfully and they approved the shop. 6 months went by with no payment. After many many emails they finally paid. I still see they are recruiting new shoppers, but beware you will not see your pay for 6 months or more.

I had done one previous assignment with them, and no issues other than them requiring a lot. But, I then picked up an assignment for an Amazon grocery delivery. They said to make sure that your postcode was on the PDF attached, and my postcode was. However after completing this, I was then told that because it was through co-op and not Amazon fresh that it didn’t count. I think it’s very misleading to not make it clearer that they had to be under the Amazon fresh column, and the fact that said that if it was in the PDF it would be okay, however other providers and postcodes were in this PDF. Very misleading. I spent £40, expecting to get £30 reimbursement; and answered all the questions, took all the photos as required, only to be told that it was with the wrong provider and I’d wasted my time and money.

GBW scam their mystery shoppers.
I know because I used to be one - reading people's experiences on here tell me they haven't changed one bit, if at all, have got worse.
There are other ways to make money - avoid this company at all costs.
Utterly useless
Upon registering I found that trying to complete certain parts of the process were complicated, and when I tried to book onto assignments I was repeatedly told by an online message that I needed to complete something and it would not allow me to book onto any assignments.
However when I contacted the company to ask for support on this I was told my registration was complete and there’s nothing for me to do, and that it’s just because there’s no assignments in the area. This is not true as clearly when I try and book on assignments sent to me that are in this area I cannot.
Which in turn means one of two things, that either they’re incompetent, or just don’t care. I know I’m bored of wasting my time trying.
