Booking process and user experience was quite seamless perfect for Eurotrips

It has become enormously and unnecessarily complicated. Knowing how to process, how to book, when to differentiate booking from reservation, adding more trips etc. Try booking Goteborg to Oslo - reservation is essential but “free”, but impossible to book on your system - I finally had to personally phone Norwegian railways to accomplish this.
Your system used to be so quick and easy to use, but now it’s hell on earth. Why did you let the kid from Marketing get loose with your whole system.

Within cities the app. enabled straight forward comparison of multiple departure/arrival times and different journey options enabling last minute changes to your train itinerary.
However still not working to give unassisted access to platforms in the UK, and was sometimes slow to respond.

The only significant problem that we encountered was in Germany, where we were most of our trains were fare away to be ponctual...

Horrible app...
It will get you stranded in the middle of nowhere without ability to board any train for hours or days... And you will lose your travel days and spend hours chatting with support and reinstalling your app.
It is unacceptable...

The website is fairly easy to navigate as is the app. Good value for the money and very comprehensive in terms of the railroads in their system.
The only problem is that most of the ticket readers at the rail stations couldn't read a QR code. Of course, the Eurail pass has a QR code for each ticketed journey. This means that you have to find a person to look at your phone and let you through the barrier.

Most trains arrived on time. However, the train that was delayed prevented needed connection to arrive at destination. As a result, plans got cancelled and was unable to use 1 of the 5 passes included in the trip. It would be a great idea if Eurail would offer a credit for the unused day of travel.

The process of getting the right pass is pretty seamless. However, the British rail system kiosks still can't read the QR codes, and you have to find a guard to let you in and one to let you out. The other quirky thing is that if you buy your seats through the rail company, they do not carry back to your pass which keeps reminding you that you need to get a reservation. I was also confused buy the warning messages on global pass which would say that if I didn't log in again, they would cancel all my reservations. Really?

I love backpacking via Eurail! I have Eurailed 4 years in a row, I’m 60, and plan to do it every year. This year, I got the 1st Class Pass, which was only a bit more. And it came in handy many times in Eastern Europe, as sometimes the 2nd Class trains are full, while the 1st Class seats have more availability. I rarely book hostels ahead of time, so, that if there are any train issues, I can just easily switch destination cities, say, from Budapest to Bratislava. The Eurail app is quick and easy. Then when I’m on the train and it’s about 3pm, that’s when I book my hostel for the night. For the Baltic Countries, every train says that additional fee “Reservations” are also required, but in practice, at least in 1st Class, that was only the case once. And I think that if I had boarded earlier than last second, it would have been fine. So, my recommendation is if you are going to Eastern Europe, get the 1st Class Pass. Eurail Rocks!

I bought the 7 day pass and have had a lot of trouble with the first 4 days of it, leading me to leave this review so others understand what they'resigning up for. First of all, I couldn't get the pass on my app, and had to buy my first train tickets on the day using cash. It was an IT issue on eurail's side in the end, they said they aren't able to verify .com.au email addresses at this time.
My next travel day I went to the counter at the ststion to check my ticket details, and a ticket counter rep put a purchase through using my pass information for a separate train going to another country, when I already had a ticket and seat reservation for another, so I had two seat reservations on different trains for no reason at all - that was very expensive, transacted without my consent, and I haven't been able to recover the cost talking to eurail's customer service to date.
The last two days of travel I have been on trains that are delayed by hours, the last being a 4 hour trip that took 8 hours.
With no resolutions offered by eurail for these multiple issues, I feel that it's cost me more money and time than it should, and if I'd known how troublesome this service would be, I would not have prepaid the pass and used other transport services to travel for my holiday.

The rail experience is great until they expose your passport to hackers.
The fees on buying seat reservations are preposterous as well.
Saved me heaps of money, that I'll now need to fork out for a new passport.
We love the Eurail pass and the flexibility it affords us while traveling. We also love the sustainability of rail travel. The app worked better this past summer than the summer before, but there were still occasional glitches that were unnerving (like when the QR code just refuses to load).

Positives: I had the two-month version. Flexibility in shifting schedules and routes on the fly, especially given reliability problems with German train system. Ability to check multiple routes. Works with some local city transportation (when it's a train).
Negatives: The Railplanner app is poor. Doesn't have all the valid routes and isn't accurate especially with cross-border situations. Have to use the local apps for quicker info and more options—the SBB app was especially good. Railplanner needs an active data connection (sometimes my connections wasn't good) and it's difficult to use in stressful situations (when trying to quickly find alternate routes or display the correct screen to train conductors); this summer of 2026 the ability to take a screenshot as backup evidence was disabled which is a serious mistake. Have to pay extra for reservations on some trains, particularly TGV; Eurail prices for reservations are often higher (sometimes much higher) for reservations. The German train system was quite chaotic and unreliable—almost every train was late or cancelled. One time we were sitting for three hours in the middle of nowhere in the ICE train with no useful info or updated routes on app. Fortunately the SBB app was helpful.

I loved my experience on the Eurail except for one very disappointing event. My ticket and trip to Paris was canceled by Eurail at the last minute due to trouble on the tracks. I had looked forward to this trip for over a year. Oh well, maybe next year.

I made a stupid mistake on the app and the customer service team sorted it for me promptly and efficiently. Impressive response times using the generic support form. Thank you Maria E and Eve!

I thought the I talisman rail system was better. Need to improve big city connections. Had a problem with a connection going to Colmar no one to ask what was going on got there in time but no train showed up had reverse direction and get another train 2 hour delay

I enjoy using the Eurail pass because the app makes it easy for me to plan my vacation with train connections. I can easily discover routes throughout my vacation within the app and make changes on the go. This is my 4th year using the Eurail Global pass.

The last minute cancellations made traveling by rail in Germany very difficult. The cancellations happened constantly over the two months we were in Germany.
