Bijenkorf is not great for support

Bijenkorf is great if you want to buy a specific, expensive item, the problem they have (see reviews) is that they fail to support their customers when they need to.
I returned with a warranty claim just to discuss how the process worked as I could not do without the product. I talked to 2 product experts and 3 client service people including 1 manager. They all started asking me for receipt and when they heard the purchase was older than 2 years, they all expressed that they could only help me if the purchase was within 2 years and I had a receipt. Not a single person helped me with the actual reason for my visit, the process. The product in this case has a 30 year warranty and the manufacturer explicitly asks for buyers to go thru their retailer. I told them this and they all insisted that if it's over two years they could not help me. Luckily most products they sell can be purchased on the internet, the only reason to go thru retailers like Bijenkorf is the excellent support the provide if something goes wrong :)

A €200+ Pan and a Copy-Paste Warranty Response

I am very disappointed with the customer service and warranty support from Le Creuset. After experiencing unusual discoloration and cooking performance issues with my enameled cast iron pan, I contacted customer service expecting a thorough assessment. Instead, my concerns were dismissed as “normal use” without any meaningful investigation.

The response I received was essentially a generic explanation of how cast iron cookware works and a list of cooking tips, rather than addressing the specific issues I reported. While I understand that discoloration can occur over time, I do not believe the level of wear and performance change I experienced is consistent with the quality standards Le Creuset is known for.

For a premium priced brand with a reputation for durability and customer care, I expected a more customer-focused approach. Unfortunately, this experience has left me feeling unsupported and disappointed.

Very disappointing gift service and client service reaction on my claim

My experience with the Bijenkorf gift service and customer service was very disappointing.
I ordered a gift consisting of several items, expecting them to be packaged together as one present. However, on the delivery date I received a message saying that part of the gift was unavailable and would not be sent. This was already frustrating, but what followed was even worse.
The remaining items were each packed separately in individual black paper envelopes — no proper gift box, no combined packaging, not even a gift bag. Instead of receiving a cohesive gift, I ended up with a collection of loose items in separate envelopes. It looks awkward, impractical, and frankly quite embarrassing to give to someone as a “gift.”
To make matters worse, Bijenkorf charges €2.99 per envelope. Not only is this expensive, it’s also completely unnecessary. I never asked for every item to be wrapped separately — in fact, the whole point of ordering a gift set is to have it presented as one.
When I contacted customer service to complain about the missing item and the poor packaging, the response was dismissive. I was told that everything looked “accurate” and that it is supposedly “fun” to give items separately. That is not for them to decide. A cup and saucer, for example, are clearly meant to be given together as a set — not split into separate envelopes.
The website gives the impression that you can select items and have them packaged together as a single gift. In reality, that is not what you receive.
Overall, this service is overpriced, poorly executed, and backed by unhelpful customer support. I would not recommend using Bijenkorf’s gift service if you expect a thoughtful or presentable result.

Disfunctional Website

These guys sell gift codes but it is a pain in the butt to apply them on their website because of frequent transaction errors. Then you have to wait for 3 hours to try again. Latest chrome browser and yet this website refuses to perform fundamental transactions without errors.

Hello all,

I purchased an order with discount voucher on Easter. Since the shop on site was not able to process my order in Amsterdam at Cartier. I was sent an email the order was delayed, got afterwards a cancellation and now my discount cannot be applied anymore to a new order! It’s a ping pong from Bijenkorf customer service to Cartier Amsterdam.
I find it deceiving this service and will tell all
My friends and family never to purchase anymore.

Warning if you’re planning to buy a perfume from this website!

I recently purchased a Maison Francis Kurkdjian perfume for €215, and it is not authentic. I filed a complaint, but they refuse to take any action or accept a return.

If you’re looking to buy a perfume, avoid De Bijenkorf.

Refusing to refund

Awful and completely unresponsive customer service!!
They are overriding EU and Dutch consumer law with their own terms and conditions and refusing to refund. I would never recommend ordering from De Bijenkorf -- terrible experience.

I bought a Gucci sunglasses in 2025 Rotterdam Bijenkorf and the manager refused to adjust my glasses as she said weekend is too busy then she said Friday is too busy as well. This results me not being able to go and adjust my sunglasses and it keeps falling off, it was scatches all over and I lost the sunglass. You would think Bijenkorf has standard but the service is low level to the bottom. I work during the weekdays!!! I am so furious now.

Buyer beware

Everything goes smoothly—until you need to return something. After reading other reviews, it appears this is a common issue with De Bijenkorf. Return packages somehow end up “lost” on their way back to the store.

What follows is an endless runaround with customer service. Each email is answered by a different representative who seems unfamiliar with the previous correspondence. In the end, you are not refunded because your shipping receipt is deemed meaningless. Instead, you are told that you should have insured the return package, along with links claiming that Bijenkorf is not legally responsible.

I don’t know anyone who insures standard retail return packages. I shop online frequently, and in my experience, a shipping receipt has always been sufficient for refunds, regardless of how consumer law is interpreted.

So be cautious if there’s any chance you may need to return your purchase. Read the other reviews—this situation appears to happen often with De Bijenkorf.

Bad experience:( never again

During a short 2-day trip to Amsterdam, I visited the well-known department store de Bijenkorf. I wanted to treat myself to something special and chose the elegant fragrance Aerin – Le Jour, which I immediately loved. I purchased the perfume for €268, I usually wear Chanel, Roja, Carolina Herrera, so I am familiar with luxury fragrances. The sales consultant was very pleasant and even gave me a complimentary Estée Lauder makeup bag and a small La Mer sample by the way, the skincare is excellent. This made me fully confident that my purchase was handled correctly. After returning to the UK and opening the box a few days later, I was shocked to discover that I had been sold a different fragrance — Aerin Le Soir, instead of Le Jour, which I had selected! At the time of purchase, I did not notice the difference, as the packaging was pink and I trusted both the consultant and the store completely.
Imagine walking into a beautiful store in a great mood, purchasing an expensive perfume, and later realizing you received something entirely different from what you chose. This completely ruined my mood and my overall shopping experience. I contacted customer support via WhatsApp, hoping for a resolution, but unfortunately the outcome was far from what I expected. There were no apologies from the store, and I was denied both an exchange and a refund on the grounds that the perfume had already been opened. I would like to thank Maya for at least forwarding my case to the store. It feels as though customers are valued only at the moment of purchase. When a genuine issue arises on the store’s side, responsibility is avoided, leaving the customer with money wasted.
This review is not written to damage the company’s reputation, but to share my experience and warn others!
Please be very careful when making purchases and double-check your items, even in well-known luxury stores.

Luxury shopping? Fake delivery

Ordered online from de Bijenkorf. DHL proudly marked my parcel as “delivered”: impressive, given it never arrived.

What followed was a 30-minute unpaid role as a private investigator: checking hotel reception, neighbouring businesses, and retracing imaginary delivery routes. DHL support helpfully suggested I repeat the whole saga to de Bijenkorf, offered zero solutions, no transcript, and then exited the chat (shout-out to the DHL agent “Engracia” for conveniently dodged a low customer rating).

Result: no parcel, no refund, just vibes.
Meanwhile, PostNL delivered another package to the exact same address the same day — so the address works, reality exists, and the problem isn’t me.

De Bijenkorf: why offer DHL if “delivered” is more of a philosophical concept than a fact?

Long-time customer. First-time considering never ordering online again.

By the way, I’ve always enjoyed my De Bijenkorf online shopping experience in the Netherlands and in Germany(before they shut down). Now I log on and saw all these horrible stories recently. Never again.

Don’t buy fragile items from them on line. They are not responsible in case you receive broken items and no refund either

I order an expensive set of porcelain plates and 8 cups. The cups were wrapped in a fine packaging paper e 1 of them was broken when I opened the box. A second cup was a totally different item than what I bought.
I sent them a message o what’s app immediately to report this including pictures. Since then I’ve talked to several different
agents ( 6) including AI. They promised to refund my 40 euros ( price of the 2 cups) but until now nothing.
I will not buy anything from them anymore.. this is really unacceptable.Do not deliver and keep your money.

Online shopping and CS experience

Online shopping experience and customer service are AWFUL, REALLY AWFUL.
1. My order never arrived but I got NO notification until I reached out to the CS, then they told me my order will never be shipped so I better get a refund.
2. Regarding its their fault, they promised me I will receive a digital gift card for price match with my lost, but it NEVER arrive at the time they promised.
3. When I reach out to CS AGAIN, they do nothing but just tell me to wait, when I expressed what happened and why its frustrating, their CS told me “they understand but there’s NOTHING they can do.”
I simply asked if they could check with their finance to see why my claim is delayed so long, their CS replied me with the most “professional” response as: “sure I will do that for you, I will do like a SOSPOST” .
3. And here we are, of course I got no feedback ever since, and still didn’t get my claim. And it has been 2 weeks since I ordered.

There’re way more shops and companies that secure our orders better, and with a better CS service if we are ever in need.
If you don’t wanna spend money and end up with endless back and forth with your claim, SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE.
