AVOID THIS COMPANY

If you are reading this review before collecting your vehicle, I strongly recommend cancelling your reservation and choosing another rental provider.

The front tires of the vehicle supplied by the Carwiz office in Lamezia Terme were in such poor condition that the vehicle was effectively unroadworthy.

After driving less than 100 km from pickup, I visited a tire repair shop, where it was discovered that the recurring TPMS warnings and loss of tire pressure were caused by the near-complete lack of tread on the front tires. Both tires were so severely worn that I was advised not to drive the vehicle any further, as they could fail at any time.

Initially, I was told that I should have identified and reported the issue at the time of pickup. Eventually, with the permission of the Carwiz office, the extremely worn front tires were replaced, and I was promised reimbursement for the replacement cost.

However, this reimbursement was never paid.

Awful experience.

Awful experience.
I rented a car from Carwiz at Warsaw Modlin Airport at the beginning of August 2026, booking through Ryanair Car Hire.

I drove directly from Modlin to Warsaw, where the car was kept in a private garage.

When I collected the car, the staff repeatedly tried to convince me to purchase their maximum insurance coverage. I explained that the car would be kept in a garage and declined, but they continued to insist.

I was then asked to pay an additional €15 cleaning fee. I was told that otherwise I would have to return the car washed and clean the interior myself. I have rented cars many times and had never encountered such a requirement before, but I paid the fee.

I returned the car in exactly the same condition in which I received it.

However, about a week later, I received a very large charge for alleged damage to one of the wheel rims.

The type of damage they are claiming appears to be the kind of damage that can occur when a wheel is scraped against a kerb while parking. The problem is that during my rental I simply did not park the car on the street. I drove it from Modlin to Warsaw and kept it in a garage. I know exactly how and where the car was used, and I am certain that I did not cause this damage.

I am currently formally disputing the charge and have requested evidence supporting their claim.

I would also be interested to know whether other Carwiz customers experienced similar claims for alleged wheel-rim damage following rentals in August 2026, at Modlin Airport.

Based on my experience so far, I find the handling of this case extremely concerning. I will update this review once the dispute has been resolved.

Carwiz naples airport are total…

Carwiz naples airport are total charlatans and scammed!
Lucky im 6foot2 and not easy to manipulate!
I ordered online and purchased full comprehensive insurance, the guy at the counter said I had to purchase their insurance as the one id purchased they wouldn't expect! So this is when their scam started. They refused at first to let me take the car until I purchased their insurance at €160.
I explained that you can't insure a car twice! And I started to call the police! This is when I showed them, they're not going to get anymore money out of me!
DON'T BE INTIMIDATED BY THEM! EVEN BETTER, DONT USE THEM!

Don’t believe the negative reviews

Don’t believe the negative reviews! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We recently hired a car from Carwiz while on a family snowboarding holiday in Queenstown, and we honestly cannot rate them highly enough!
The car they provided was fantastic — amazing on fuel and handled the mountain roads and conditions going up and down the ski fields with ease. They also supplied us with snow chains, which we definitely needed, as we wouldn’t have been allowed up the mountain without them.
The whole process was so easy from start to finish. Picking up and dropping off the car was simple, and their complimentary shuttle to and from the airport was incredibly convenient.
We also really appreciated how relaxed and easy-going they were about the vehicle. As long as you look after the car and don’t completely trash it, they aren’t overly precious or looking for tiny little things to complain about.
Fantastic service, great vehicle and an all-round stress-free experience. We would absolutely hire from Carwiz again next time we’re in Queenstown. Highly recommend!

CARWIZ - CAGLIARI - Scammers

When we arrived at the office, they refused to give us the car because the name on the reservation was first name + last name, the same on the credit card, and the identification documents had first name + middle name + last name.
They would only give us the car if we buy a full coverage insurance with them. The insurance they proposed cost the same than the rental and several times the insurance we made when we reserve with Ryanair.

We refused to pay another insurance and for that they didn't gave us the car. We had to rent a car from another company.
People in the office was very rude and refuse to identify themselves.

If you search the internet, you will find hundreds of situations like this.

CARWIZ is neither honest nor reliable.

CarWiz Romania - be careful with this company

Be careful with this company - CarWiz Romania. Their way of doing business borders on fraud. They aggressively and blatantly push their own insurance (which will cost significantly more than the car rental itself). If you have third-party insurance, definitely be prepared for the consequences when returning the vehicle. They will look for defects using a "microscope"—and trust me, they will find them. You will be fined even for a 1 mm scratch, and they will discover "damage" in places you wouldn't even think to check at pickup.
The photos show 3 so-called defects found in such hard-to-spot areas that I certainly didn't look there when receiving the car. I am 100% convinced all of these were already present before my rental. Unfortunately, they will likely charge the next customer who rents this car without their insurance too. For these minor defects, I was fined €400—basically the exact price of their 5-day insurance...
When we started arguing about this, they even threatened to withhold the airport shuttle service (their location is outside the airport area).
Overall, a very bad experience. I have never encountered such blatant fraud. I strongly advise avoiding their tempting rental prices and choosing a slightly more expensive, but far more reliable rental company instead.

Fraud - Dishonest business practices, no accountability

Fraud - Carwiz stole my full rental payment ($600) for a car out of London, UK. Upon arriving at CarWiz the attendant told me they couldn't rent me the car because my address had changed on my US driver's license and was not current (it was updated in the US system and valid). The rental was canceled and I was told I'd receive a refund. I easily rented from Hertz with the same license later that day. Carwiz has not issued a refund and I cannot get anyone with the company to respond to my requests. I rented with CarWiz through Expedia. Expedia's dispute group relayed that CarWiz stated that no refund was due because my license wasn't valid. So they rented the car to someone else and charged me $600? This is fraud.

Complete rip off...Do Not Use!

Complete rip off...Do Not Use This Company. Tried to collect a car at Poznan airport having booked online. They would not allow me to collect the car as my valid credit card had my initials instead of my full name (even though I had a drivers licence and passport in my full name). They claimed that the insurance that I had booked and paid for was invalid and that I had to buy their own insurance for an additional £200...with the same credit card they had just claimed was invalid! I refused and ended up using public transport...which was brilliant and cheap. This company should not be allowed to trade.

We booked car hire through the EasyJet…

We booked car hire through the EasyJet website. It took over 30 minutes to find the transport to take us off site to the car hire office from Naples airport. We then wasted over 90 minutes in excessive heat with 3 children arguing that the three cars offered were not roadworthy and safe to drive. Huge pressure to buy excess car insurance. 1st car offered had a dangerously defective tyre. 2nd car had serious side impact damage and missing bodywork - we suspect that the chassis was compromised. 3rd car did not have working lights. They became aggressive and implied we were being unreasonable even though admitting that 'All their cars had damage'. Finally offered an automatic car but they insisted on charging 90 euros extra as it was an 'upgrade'. At that point we had to agree.
We will not use them again or book through EasyJet if they continue to use this company.

I agree with many of the reviews. Used the Naples office. Ripped off with the some hidden insurance, car was dirty inside, no screen wash, rear light not working, staff generally unhelpful. I keep using these guys and keep being disappointed. I should learn.

Terrible experience with CARWIZ…

Terrible experience with CARWIZ Albania... still waiting for my money back

I had an extremely bad experience with CARWIZ during a trip to Albania.

When we picked up the car, we were told we had to pay an additional amount because we only had a debit card and not a credit card. The whole situation around this payment/deposit was very unclear. I even offered to pay the security deposit in cash, but the employee told me that wasn’t possible. At that point we had very little choice but to pay the extra amount if we wanted to take the car. The amount was double what we initially had to pay.

It honestly felt like a very questionable way of making additional money from tourists who arrive at the rental desk and have no real alternative.

When we returned the car, the employee at CARWIZ told us that the money would be refunded within 30 days, and that in most cases people receive it back within around 10 days.

It has now been around 5 months and I still haven’t received anything.

I have since tried to resolve the issue through CarJet, who acted as the intermediary for the booking. They asked me to provide my booking details and even a bank statement showing that the refund was never received. I sent everything they requested, but the underlying issue remains the same: CARWIZ took the payment, told us it would be refunded, and months later the money is still missing.

No refund, no proper explanation and no resolution. If you tell a customer that money will be returned within 30 days, it is completely unacceptable for them to still be waiting five months later.

Based on my experience, I would absolutely not rent from CARWIZ Albania again.

Stay well away zero stars

If I could give no stars I would , terrible service , our flight was redirected to Athens and carwiz at Kalamata knew this, I rang the four times from Athens to say about the delay but no answer, I thrn emailed them and got no response, I arrived to collect our car an hour before they closed , no one collected me from the airport I had to wheel my case and hand luggage over rough terrain to get to the rental office which was a tired looking shack , very difficult as I am registered disabled , they knew I was coming because Sixt rental desk called them say I was there , upon talking the the young Greek person and he told me my rental was cancelled because I was late, he did suggest I pay a further €150 to get my rental reinstated, to which I realised a SCAM was in place , after a long argument with them but they still refused my car, so I had to struggle back to the airport with my bags and had to continue my whole holiday with no rental car , I had to pay for taxis to get around , luckily I booked through holiday autos who have been fantastic and reviewed my case and issued me a full refund , DO NOT RENT THROUGH CARWIZ UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES AS IT IS FRAUDULENT AND A TOTAL RISK, please do not use them !!!!!! I think I got away lightly after looking at all the other reviews .

⚠️ Strong warning

⚠️ Strong warning — think very carefully before hiring from this company

I am writing this review to warn other customers and encourage anyone considering hiring a vehicle from this company to be extremely careful.

We booked a vehicle through easyJet and paid approximately £700. Everything appeared to be confirmed. When we arrived at the airport, we went to the designated collection area and waited in temperatures of around 40°C. Other rental vehicles came and went, but nobody from this company arrived.

We waited for over 40 minutes and then called the telephone number listed on their website three times. Nobody answered. In total, we were left waiting for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, with our family and young children struggling in the extreme heat.

Eventually, one of their vans arrived. We approached the driver and explained that we had been waiting for a long time. After giving him my name, I was told that our booking had apparently been cancelled because we had not arrived within 30 minutes of our allocated time.

We were then told that the vehicle we had originally booked was no longer available and that our only option was to take a different vehicle for an additional £200, bringing the total to approximately £900.

When I initially refused and said I would hire from another company, I was told that they would not refund the money we had already paid.

After we had walked away and started looking for another rental company, the driver returned around 35 minutes later and said he had spoken to his manager and that they could offer us another vehicle for the additional £150.

Given that we had a family with young children, were exhausted and had already spent such a long time waiting in extreme heat, we reluctantly accepted.

We then went through the paperwork. We were told to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel and in the same condition. We were also offered additional insurance, despite having understood when booking that we were already insured. We were told that the existing cover would not protect us from certain minor accidents and that, in the event of a breakdown, recovery could potentially take up to 48 hours. This was another concern.

Before leaving, their employee photographed the vehicle. We also took our own photographs and, importantly, a video walking around the entire vehicle.

There were already scratches and a dent on the vehicle when we collected it. We pointed these out. The employee told us not to worry about the smaller scratches and that they were only concerned about significant dents.

When we returned the vehicle, it was clean and, as far as we were concerned, in the same condition in which we had received it.

However, the member of staff dealing with the return then claimed that there were two scratches and said we were responsible for £600 in damage — £300 per scratch.

We disputed this immediately and showed them the photographs and video we had taken when collecting the vehicle. Initially, the member of staff continued to dispute what our photographs and video showed.

After a lengthy argument and going through the evidence, they eventually accepted our position, refunded our money and took us back to the airport.

The reason I am sharing this is simple: please protect yourself if you hire from this company.

Take detailed photographs and, preferably, a continuous video of the entire vehicle before driving away. Make sure every existing mark, scratch and dent is recorded on the paperwork. Keep copies of your booking, payment, insurance documents and all correspondence.

Our experience involved poor communication, a very long wait in extreme heat, an unexpected additional £200 charge, confusion regarding the insurance, and then a disputed £600 damage claim on return.

Thankfully, we had taken our own evidence. Otherwise, I am not sure how this situation would have ended.

I would strongly recommend that anyone considering using this company exercises extreme caution and carefully documents everything before accepting a vehicle.

This company is the worst rental…

This company is the worst rental company. They have a very low rental fee. I left my credit card info. Four days after returning the car they claimed I damaged the bumper and took (stole) $1000 from my card claiming I dented the bumper. I turned the claim over to my insurance who paid over $2500 rrathwr than fight them. They had several cars that are identical and do a bait and switch. They also billed me for $232 toll fees but the fee charge had the date one week after we turned the car in. We had used our own sun pass and have the receipt. Now four months later they charged me $313 for another bogus charge that I will not pay. They are thrives and should be prosecuted. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.

We've rented cars in many countries all…

We've rented cars in many countries all over the world for more than 20 years and never had a single problem before. This time was on another level, it started just right at our arrival, the agent at the desk asked me 1400€ as a deposit (for the cheapest car, a simple Peugeot), we were never asked that kind of deposit before, usually never more than 1200€ max. Unfortunately, my credit card limit was 1250€ so the transaction couldn't work. I proposed to use 1250€ as deposit on my credit card and use another 150€ on my debit card. The guy at the desk didn't accept and pushed us to pay 350€ more to use my debit card as a deposit. We didn't have any other choice than paying the 350€ (on top of the 390€ I paid for the rental). At the end of our trip, the car was super clean when we returned it, no scratches, nothing. But they finally charged me another 25€ extra for 'cleaning fee'. We felt completely scammed. Never again with this CARWIZ company !!!

Never go with Carwiz

Never, never use this company. Never been more ripped off. Was given a beat up 7 seater for family vacation along Croatian coastline. Peugeot 5008 turned up with longs of dings, bangs and scratches. Almost too many to check and double check. Then a few days in car engine warning light went on too. Returned car on time, and they got me for some dust on a wheel arch that rubbed off. Held me hostage to a large deposit I had to give up front. No option. Computer said no - and said would cost 450 Euros to fix. Tried to take photographs of ‘it’ could even capture it on camera as so faint - being lost in the noise of loads of other scratches and dinks. Never had an experience like it - so trapped by their policy and only focus on scamming more money. Don’t know how companies get away with it. Don’t go with them - you’ll be ripped off!!!
