Charges extra for services you never agreed to
They "forget" to tell you if you call customer service they will make you pay a "service fee" for helping you. They are also not helpful and don't know how to help. Third time I called they finally understood my problem - I thought - and fixed it, but turns out they didn't understand the problem at all and just chose an add-on service that cost me $10 and then added a service fee for $5. And they still haven't helped with the issue!! Block them from all your cards and payment info!! Never using again! They are also very vague when it comes to invoices etc and suddenly you will have paid a year in advance without consenting to

Sounds like a bad experience indeed! I would like to help you further, but cannot get to your customer number.
We do have service fees, but they are related to domain moves and reactivations, mostly, not to a call to customer service! Regarding the payments and contracts, that is how it works at Strato; for most of our products you enter a contract for 12 months, with 30 days money back guarantee. Payment in advance, no hidden fees or fine-print!

So, not all hosting services are the same, and this one, especially if you are new to managing websites, you should avoid it. Better you go with one that has 5 stars, it will be worth the few bucks extra it might cost, i promise you. I switched to one of those, and, its such a difference, so much better than strato. Better UI for the management, AI helpdesk agent that can actually help you to solve things, 24/7 human support on chat available, and a lot of good functions that can be added to the basic account when you need them, at reasonable prices. The people rating this one five stars, maybe they have nothing to compare with.

3. Create a folder inside the filesystem
4. Find the mysterious radio button called “Internal”
5. Click on the gearwheel
6. Select “Internal”
7. Choose the folder you created
8. Scroll all the way down
9. Click “Save” (VERY important)
10. Upload your website files into the folder you created and selected
Congratulations!
You now have a cheap, good, and fast web host for your website.
Bonus:
You have also qualified for admission to any university computer science program. 😄

So far I’m not impressed. Been waiting over 72 hours for a domain, as well as 48 hours respectively for another.
I might not have paid a lot, but that is well beyond annoying.

Might be cheap, but, the AI translated Eng to Swe is useless, and, you can not pick your language and use English when you're a Swedish user. So stupid.
Wouldn't surprise me if they have translated from German to English too using AI and it would be as useless also. This is really the Lidl or worse of hosting/domains. Zero UX, Zero UI, care more about upsell upsell upsell, instead of fixing language and UI. Stay away.
