$5,000 slaher , Failed Twice, Replacement Refused

A $5,000+ heavy-duty rough cut slasher shouldn't suffer two structural failures in the same location within its first three months of service. After the second failure, Scintex refused to replace the unit, leaving the matter to be resolved through NSW Fair Trading.**

The mower itself actually cuts extremely well. If I were reviewing only its cutting performance, it would have received a much higher rating.

Unfortunately, within approximately six weeks of being put into service, the hitch/deck assembly suffered a structural failure. Scintex supplied replacement parts and revised setup guidance, which I followed. Less than three months after the mower first went into service, the same area failed again.

For a machine at this price point, marketed as a **heavy-duty rough cut slasher** designed for demanding farm work and rough terrain, I simply don't believe two structural failures in the same location within the first few months is acceptable.

Following the second failure, the mower lost its rigid connection to the towing vehicle, became extremely difficult to control and sustained further damage during the incident and recovery.

My disappointment isn't that a machine failed—mechanical equipment can fail. It's that after two failures in essentially the same area on a near-new machine, I no longer had confidence in its structural integrity and requested a replacement, which was refused.

The mower has now been out of service for months while the dispute continues, requiring me to engage contractors to carry out the work it was purchased to do.

I genuinely wanted this mower to be a long-term solution because, when operating, it performs well. Unfortunately, based on my experience with both the product and the way this issue has been handled, I can't recommend it.

I have purchased this unit

I have purchased this unit. When communicated with sales and there was no indication that unit require assembly. When the unit arrived, I did enquire, as they did nit supplied anything, how to unpack and assemble. The indication was, I need commercial type Grinder, or something to cut the heavy protection frame and ARMY of people to lift this 450-500kG unit. I do not have any means to lift such heavy item, so the unit sits in drive way. Scintex just ignoring to provide any help. So I am losing over $ 6000 due to the way Scintex provides customer sales, support and advice. Would you do any purchased from them ??? Old retired John. I have provided review on they web site, but they never published it .. crock company

Mostly good gear but questionable reviews

I have several pieces of equipment purchased from Scintex and it is all solidly built and good value for money. The only issue I’ve had is with their post driver which is very difficult to use with star pickets due to poor design for this purpose. Its probably excellent for other types of posts. The biggest issue I have with Scintex is that after leaving what I believe to be a reasonable & considered review on their website explaining the difficulties I had (and its good points), several weeks later my review still hasn’t been published on their website. It appears they only publish glowing reviews. If they don't publish all reviews, one has to wonder if the ones they do publish are even genuine customer reviews. To me this appears deceptive and dishonest. A shame because their products that I’ve purchased are, with this one exception, very good.

Deceitful practices

I purchased a pump from Scintex that can be used directly from solar panels. The advertisement stated the pump could be used to supply water to a farm house. They also recommended a mechanical pressure switch with the pump. Around $750 all up. After making the purchase, I thought to investigate the set up process as I am in a remote area with no access to tradesmen. So I have to do all the work myself. Nowhere in the installation manual did it refer to how to plumb into a house. It only referenced pumping from a bore to a water tank. That is what this pump was designed to do. Yet they stated in their advertisement that it could supply a farm house, only none of the manuals showed how to set it up to perform such a task. I contacted support by email to cancel the order before they sent the product (NO PHONE SUPPORT). They replied and reassured me it would work. Based on that, I proceeded with the order, received the pump and pressure switch, looked at the manual, and low and behold it only references pumping from a bore into a tank. I contacted support again, and now they want to charge me 15% restocking fee to send it back, on top of paying for the shipping, and losing my original shipping costs to have it shipped in the first instance. You just can't make this stuff up. Seriously, If you need to make a high ticket purchase, seriously consider looking elsewhere. The lack of NO technical telephone support for these high ticket items should raise alarm bells. I will be contacting ACCC. I refuse to accept your deceitful practice and attempts to extort me further from my hard earned money.
