I resigned after being charged the 25.8 % plus this year. Santévet does not follow the Belgian indexation (the preimium increase should have been not more thant 3.5-4% and does not care if the dog is in exellent health and had no accident the year before. Santévet never replied to my registered letter sent on 15/7/2026 and received on 16/07/2026. Santé vet does not want to follow the insurance regulations, which allow customers to provide only a month of notice (they claim that you must give 2 months and 1 day of notice: nonsense). I complained to the Ombudsman of the Insurance due to their horrific behaviour.

Santevet was a really good choice a few years ago, but now the prices have skyrocketed, and a lot of vet visits are simply not covered. My dog had a check-up procedure to see why her snoring increased, and Santevet refused to cover it claiming it was linked to BOAS, even though she is not of a breed even remotely associated with BOAS. The prevention ceiling for the mid-tier package is only 50€, so if you buy monthly flea&tick treatments, you reach that ceiling really fast. The only time we actually got something back quickly and without an issue was during an emergency visit, but with the horrible increase in monthly payments now and long refund times, I am considering cancelling our contract.

We are using Santevet for several years and in general we are satisfied. However, we recently received an email saying that our new contract will be almost 30% more expensive than what are we paying now. Also, the delays in processing the refunds are only getting bigger.

This is a really good insurance for your pet ! They sometimes take a little more time to respond, but I definitely recommend it !!

Beware that for a young dog, you will not get most of your appointments, vaccinations, worms and ticks treatment nor sterilization or related medication or vet appointments covered as the ceiling of the prevention budget is very low per year and will probably only cover a small fraction. In our plan the prevention budget is 80 EUR per year and we are already multiple times over it. Since a young dog gets basically every appointment some vacc or deworming etc, then so far all our appoinments, even if also a check up is done, fall under that one budget and we have payed in april already 500-600 eur over this budget (sterilization, vacc, deworming, appointments). I think it is useful to be aware of this. Otherwise, the reimbursement system is very easy, vet sends all documents and everything is done directly.

It seems dates are more important than the health of the pet. Having the annual check before an exact year elapses, means no reimbursement. It doesn't matter that maybe people don't have the time to go on a specific date. It doesn't matter that maybe their choice of a vet may be on holidays. Nope... what matters is that we pay in full every month and do the annual checkups when they say.

Easy and quick reimbursement

They added a franchise which makes the insurance non relevant if you have a healthy joint cat as the vet visit are non reimbursed.

Santévet is a really good insurance for our dog, we get very quickly reimbursed and they’re available for any questions. I feel much better taking my dog to the vet since we got insurance with them!

Comparing to all other animal insurances in Belgium (Figo, Perexpert by KBC, and Belfius), Santé Vet provides more realistic, practical covering at a better price. Mobile app is handy, and staff are nice and responsive.

Trouble free insurance. Claims settled with minimum interactions. Helpful support agents when we have to call. Definitely recommend
