I used to enjoy Mumsnet and had some interesting discussions and chats with other like-minded people.
Unfortunately I have had to walk away because of the absolute vitriol I have had from other posters who didn't agree with me on various topics.
I have found some people sarcastic, nasty, rude,biased,
bullying and just generally unpleasant. There seems to be a 'pack' mentality and anyone not of the 'hive mind' gets 'piled on'.
Not a place to go for a good chat any more, which is a shame.

I joined this forum when I was pregnant with my first child back in 2005. I found it a great place for advice with kind and helpful people offering up their experiences of the parenting world.

I stayed when my children grew up as I found it an interesting platform with lots of topics to discuss. However, over recent years I have notice the people who frequent this forum are just down right nasty at times, they often act like a group of baying wolves ready to pile onto OPs who are often just after some advice. You need very thick skin and nerves of steel to even contemplate posting anything on the AIBU section!

I am also noticing so many threads appear to be started by AI and others are clearly started by sad individuals who have nothing better all day than to post inflammatory threads just to wind others up and as there appears to be so many of these baying wolf types they automatically bite and we then have pages of nastiness with endless people joining in on the bloodfest.

Yeah, it’s no longer a place I recognise so for my own mental health…….it’s a goodbye from me.

Truly terrible customer service. Posts get removed for no reason yet transphobic, homophobic and blatantly discriminatory posts are allowed to continue.
The customer service people are robotic, can’t read properly and don’t understand good customer service.
Such a nasty toxic place. A toxic echo chamber for sad middle aged women to feed off each others hatred.

Toxic, horrible environment. They allow blatant AI posts as well as posts which sexualise children. When reported, you will get your sign-in banned but the child abusers posts will remain. If you call out, or tacitly question the legitimacy of a post, due to all of the AI, you will have your post removed but the questionable thread remains. The women here are bitter, hate men, are violent towards men and boys and condone vicious behaviour towards them and anyone who supports men or traditional family. AVOID.

I reported a post that insulted the OP and contributed nothing to the discussion. The MN team responded quickly and delted the offending post.

I've always found the MN team to be responsive in this kind of situation and this was no exception.

They delete posts as soon as they are reported. Without reading or checking them. Even ones without swearing or personal insults. If you challenge racism or misogyny, using general terms, if someone takes offence and reports, your comment disappears. Astonishing. Yet racist comments are allowed to shand unchallenged. It is becoming a racist place now.

I want to bring to the attention of Justine Roberts a situation on Gransnet ( part of Mumsnet) where a much loved member has been banned. The allegations are not true. I feel sure that if she were to read the strength of feeling being posted she would step in and rectify this injustice.

I have been a Mumsnet user for about 15 years and have always enjoyed the variety of chat topics available and the general wit and helpfulness of mumsnetters. I have noticed an uptick in nastiness on the site and have been heartened to see Mumsnet respond quickly to reports and take effective action

I joined Mumsnet to ask for some advice: I unsubscribed after a half hour, having received a bunch of nasty, judgy, uncalled-for comments. My mum always said "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". There are a lot of unpleasant people on this site who should follow my mum's advice.

I have found Mumsnet forums to be a great way to discuss issues that affect me and my life, and I value the site immensely.

I use it for free, and understand that the site needs to be funded with advertising, but I would rather have that than the site not exist at all.

Was about to sign up until I read the disgusting posts about Trump assassination attempt. People celebrating the would be murder. Vile allowing such posts. No thanks.

Regular attacks on people sometimes followed round the boards and nothing done about it if they are clever how they word it. To the point worried family would be targeted in person so I have come off it altogether. Some lovely people. Vulnerable groups often attacked and little done like autistic, people who need benefits.

Top marks all round. Have been using Mumsnet for years (for SO MUCH much more than parenting advice)
I recently had an issue that I needed to contact the mods for and the response was truly exceptional. I got an immediate, very human response and they dealt with the issue with understanding and zero fuss.
Very impressed and made me like and trust the site even more.

What an absolute toxic environment. My post was taken completely out of context and thrown to the wolves. Mostly nasty and misogyny replies. Only a couple of supportive people out of 150.

I thought women were better that this. Have since realised that men are on there too. So quite the private space just for Mums then. Perhaps they need to rename it to Mums&DadsNet.

There was no option to delete my post, so I deleted my account instead and I won't be back.

I complained about a poster who was clearly deliberately derailing the thread, arguing in curiously ungrammatical language with everyone, making inflammatory statements in favour of men perving at schoolgirls, descending into personal insults. Their posts and our responses to them took up about 90% of the thread, and attempts to reason with this PP had no avail. Meanwhile, the OP had a serious problem that we could not tackle because of the PP. I reported several of the PP's posts to MNHQ in the evening and the next morning they took down the thread due to it haveng been so derailed. I was also told that the poster had been suspended. I am happy with this efficient and appropriate response.

I loved the site.It's both intellectually stimulating.And sometimes just absolute mind fluff, but when you've got a really bad cold and you're at home.Sick the community of women and some men is a marvellous place to be.I absolutely love this website

Why are these selective moderators not censoring Nomas' constant racial baiting? For a site that's trigger happy with censorship, this antisemitic poster is given free rein.

So there's a thread by a mother with mobility issues, has 1 young child now at school who has some degree of mobility issues, has a 2.5yr old with severe mobility issues, has a 10 week old and wants people to agree with her that if she's too tired to get the two yr old to reception she should be allowed to send him every now again. I have never seen a thread with so many deleted posts! It's like the free speech police have gone crazy to anyone daring to speak the truth and tell her it's not sustainable when she's eventually going to have 3 to get to school. I pointed out that there are other active recent threads about schools coming down heavy on absences and social services getting and a self appointed free speech policewoman got MN to delete it and then posted unfair things about me! How has it got to a stage where only those supporting irresponsibility and gas lighting are allowed to have their posts remain. The person that reported me said the OP should get pregnant as often as she wants because the consequences to the kids don't matter! Great advice!

Always a useful source of current information on a range of topics. Their customer service is second to none: prompt and courteous.
