I downloaded Hinge to give it a try, but I ended up deleting the app because of my experience with the free version.

One of my biggest frustrations was the lack of control over my dating preferences. From what I experienced, the free version did not give me enough ability to filter out things that are important to me when deciding who I’m interested in dating. That includes preferences around gender, sexual orientation, smoking/drug use, political views, and other lifestyle choices.

For me, those aren’t minor details—they’re important compatibility factors. I don’t think someone should have to pay just to have meaningful control over the type of people they’re shown.

I understand that dating apps need premium features to make money, but basic compatibility preferences should be part of the free experience. Otherwise, the app becomes much less useful for people who have specific deal-breakers.

I deleted Hinge and, based on my experience with the free version, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Don’t sign up. The minute you do they stop letting you see new people and put them in standouts where you have to pay extra to contact them. On the standard page I just keep getting the same few men I have already said no to. I tried talking to them about it but no way to talk to anyone.

And I was catfished for the first time ever.

You can lose your account without ever being told why!

My account was suddenly banned after a completely ordinary conversation. I appealed and explicitly asked Hinge to identify what I had allegedly said or done and which rule I had violated.

Approximately three hours later, I received a generic response claiming that the decision had been carefully reviewed and was final—but still refusing to identify even the category of the alleged violation.

I understand protecting another user’s identity. That does not justify withholding every meaningful detail from the person being permanently excluded. Without knowing the allegation, you cannot defend yourself, correct a misunderstanding, or judge whether the decision was reasonable.

A platform that can permanently ban paying users while providing no specific reason and no meaningful further appeal process is, in my opinion, fundamentally unfair and unworthy of trust. I would not recommend entrusting this company with your time, money, conversations, or personal data.

Terrible. Hard to use unless you cough up extortionate fees…… no different to all the other capitalists. Only a money making tool for the corporates!!!!! Like everything else these days……. money, money, money!!! Any chance of thinking about people?????

I met my partner, Adam, on Hinge and I’m so glad I did. We spent days messaging before we met, just laughing, talking about everything and genuinely getting to know one another. From there, everything seems to have happened in the best kind of blur.

We’ve now built a life together, moved in together, travelled abroad on so many amazing holidays and made more memories than I could have imagined when I first downloaded the app. I’ve become part of his family too — I’m even known and introduced as Aunty Emily to his nephew, which still makes my heart melt.

It’s crazy to think that all of this started with one match and a few messages on Hinge. I downloaded a dating app and ended up finding my best friend and the person I get to share my everyday life with.

So from both of us, thank you Hinge. Turns out it really can be designed to be deleted. ❤️

I purchased Hinge for one week TRIAL and canceled and deleted my subscription. I have sent screenshots to both hinge and google play. Its like playing ping pong. They send you back and forth.
I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP. THEY KEEP CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD.

Option 1: Hinge: the Ambien of dating apps.

Nothing about the app is compelling. Boring responses to boring questions posed by boring humans who may live anywhere in the galaxy. Wake me up if there's ever a worthy match, Until then, zzzzzzz.

I would give this site a zero if I could. EVERY "woman" on there is fake. They will send you a like or a rose, or comment on your picture, then ghost you. Most of them are using random pictures from the internet. This site ought to be shutdown. Don't waste your time. I was there a week. Which is a week longer than anyone should be there.

On one hand, there is no profile verification. On the other hand, they like to ban users right after they've made a payment. I also gave AFFseek.com
a try. So far I like the results, although I came there with a very skeptical mindset after Hinge banned me and basically stole $250 from my account. There was no way to dispute those bogus charges. When you are banned by Hinge they don't respond to your requests. They don't give you any reason for the ban. They are brazen enough not to even try to justify the embezzlement.

After using it for almost 6 months I have come to conclusion that in the first few weeks maybe you get suggestions from real men, but after that it is just fake profiles. I refuse to belive that all of the sudden I get matched with hot guys but all they ever say is "hello". I have purchased boost, but it only works for 1h, which is ridiculous for the price, considering other apps boost you for 24h. Will not be renewing premium membership

Most of the “potential” matches were in the USA, South America or Scandinavia. There were very few British men and although I had given my preferred location, most were miles away.
Fortunately, I didn’t pay anything. What’s the point when you will never meet that person!

Match group of companies, what can i say, they now apply predatory practices incl on Hinge. Cant wait for other competitors to see the light and get rid of the rodents of Match leadership who clearly have not got a clue as to how to run a business. Maybe they can get a few cents on the shares by ruining other peoples dating opportunities but I would hope potential customers would seek dating opportunities elsewhere there are platforms such as Bumble and h0pefully others very soon. AVOID HINGE, MATCH, cupid, at all costs, the vermin of dating apps.

They keep banning people’s account for no reason. They do not have a customer service system or a contact number to reach. They also do not have good customer service and a bot keeps answering their emails. How will they be using a bot to reply emails to human problems that are different to each individual.

This happened in November 2024 (however, the calendar below won't allow me to key in a date more than 12 months ago) - I joined Hinge dating app, and initially ( and mistakenly) thought it was rather good.
I'm truly always extremely appropriate, respectful and cautious of the conversations that I engage in, and so too about the appropriateness of the photographs that I post.
Therefore, I was incredulous when 'Hinge' removed my profile and "advised " that I'd "breached" their code of conduct.
I was provided no explanation, and can merely presume that there exists a glitch in Hinge's algorithms that has erroneously resulted in my profile being 'blacklisted'.
It's now more than 12 months later, and still no explanation, and no reinstatement of my profile.
I was forced to give 1 star, but Hinge actually should get a big fat ZERO for their poorly designed app that incorrectly makes false accusations, and blocks genuine users.

My Hinge account was deleted without reason. After I created a new account on the same number and photos, the account was deleted again by the algorithm. I tried contacting Hinge support for a few months, but it was never made clear to me why they ban/ delete me. I have always been respectful. Hinge bans for no reason. It is sad that Hinge does not provide a reason.

Hinge is a shake-down. At first I was getting all kinds of likes and messages. Great! Finally a place where men are paying attention and willing to pay a bit to meet a good woman. However in the last few weeks there has been a sudden sharp decline in my inbox. I'm talking no likes or matches or messages AT ALL for a week. But guess what I did begin to see more of? Suggestions to "boost" my profile or to send "roses". Both of which cost $ and are not cheap. Shame on you Hinge for making money off of people's natural longing to make a real connection with someone. Foul....just foul.
