Home & Roost Cat Shelter
I've never purchased a shelter for housing a stray cat before but just feeding the poor little soul was not enough. I do have a dog who is not overly keen on cats but winters with cold and rain worried me so I bought a shelter that hopefully the cat will use. This was not the cheapest around and I did a bit of homework but kept coming back to Home & Roost's XL Mayfair cat house. It arrived quickly via DPD, had a couple of nicks in the wood in places but overall it appears solid and reasonable quality. I treated it with a couple of coats of Fencelife and also noticed that when the legs are attached that some people were creating a step as the extra height from the legs made the flap quite high up. My husband rigged up a rough frame to keep the flap open whilst the cat got used to it and we decided on bricks rather than the wooden legs. It works for me and keeps the shelter off the wet ground! He also secured the roof with hinges so I didnt have the bother of taking the roof on and off anymore. Sorry I dont have the option to attach pics. 😒

I had the wrong panels delivered in my original parcel. I had to have 3 panels replaced due to having faults/not put together properly or checked before being sent.
Some pre made panels had screws coming through the side. For £330 I had expected a better quality. I now have a door with the wire a different way to all the others. Very sharp wires exposed inside the door. Door catches are sharp. A couple of door catches have pitting in the metal.
On the side panels the pilot is placed directly opposite a thin bit of the tongue and groove so the wood just snaps and splits.
The company replaced the badly made and wrong panels but really that is the absolute minimum they should have done in the circumstances. Delivery of replacements took a while and I was told it's because the panels are not kept in stock, if the original parcel was actually checked before being sent, replacements wouldn't have had to be sent. Not an experience I wish to repeat. Cannot recommend and will not be ordering from here again.

Great price and speedy delivery but…
Great price and speedy delivery but quality of product was disappointing in places. There were splits in the wood which needed repairing as we built it. The instructions sent were not specific to the unit we purchased so we had issues getting to grips with it initially. The special "liner" purchased to protect the base was just a piece of ordinary household lino which had no means of securing to the base..good job we had some double sided tape!! Hopefully it will last but not sure at this time...will see what happens in the colder months, although we have ordered a custom made cover in readiness for this

Thank you for taking the time to write all of that out. Three stars is fair, and the detail in it is far more use to us than a bare one or five would have been.
Splits should not have been there, and I am sorry you ended up repairing them yourself partway through the build. That is not the job you paid for. Get in touch with your order number and I will send replacement panels out. If you are able to send a photo of the splits at the same time it goes straight to the workshop, because seeing where in the timber it happens is how we work out what is causing it.
You are right about the instructions too. There is no assembly sheet specific to the 5ft Sandhurst Single, so what you received was our general one. That is our gap rather than yours, and we are working through the range putting it right.
The floor shield is a different story, and I am glad you raised it, because it plainly does not look deliberate. We leave it loose on purpose. Rabbits chew, and any adhesive holding a floor down eventually ends up eaten, which is a vet trip nobody wants. It is cut to the footprint of that particular hutch rather than being an offcut of household lino, and in normal use the bedding goes on top and the weight of the animals settles it flat within a few days. Loose is also what lets you lift the whole thing out to clean, which is half of what it is for. On the same reasoning, I would keep an eye on the double-sided tape.
What we have got wrong is not saying any of that on the page. You should not have had to work it out with a roll of tape in your hand, and I am getting that changed.

I ordered a hedgehog house from their…
I ordered a hedgehog house from their website. The quality of the product is excellent, really sturdy well made and a really good size and already assembled. It came with some hedgehog food on a deal to get us going. We also purchased hay which is also excellent quality too.
We’re pleased to say from night one we had new residents with hoglets.
Communication and delivery were very good and would definitely recommend thanks home and roost.

Excellent quality attractive hedgehog house with free gifts sent swiftly.
I am really pleased with the hedgehog house I bought. It is beautifully made with quality materials that I could easily custom with a little outdoor animal safe paint. I can go to bed assured my hedgehogs are safe from predators due to the thoughtful design. I was also given a free bag of food and a water dish which is fantastic given the house itself was very reasonable.
