I was simply hoping to get my tax completed - I had expected to actually need to pay the government rather than be eligible for a return! Hence I'm very happy to have used Etax even though I'm not all that competent working with online "tools". Shows that the process is more than manageable for most of us.

This company now holds the title as the most unprofessional company I have had the displeaseure of dealing with, to this point in my life. I would elaborate but I am not willing to waste any more of my time on this company.

I'm happy with my second year using etax. The process was easy; a lot of information was prefilled, review by professionals found some more deductions on a small income.

I always have and always will use this company. They are there to help us get our tax return as most as possible.

Guidelines, previous years information and well structured website made tax easy.

When asking for bank details there is no box for the actual bank name, only the BSB.

I could not find where, after signing the return, I could print a paper copy of the return

Easy way to do tax it's mostly calculated for you. Have used this service previously and return year after year because it is simple to navigate

One of the most disappointing and unprofessional customer experiences I've encountered.

After spending months working with Etax on my tax return, providing extensive documentation, responding to repeated requests and investing considerable time in their process, I was eventually informed that they would no longer be proceeding with my return because my tax affairs were supposedly too complex for their service.

It took them MONTHS to reach a conclusion they should have been capable of making at the outset.

Throughout this process, I cooperated fully and acted in good faith, only to be left back at square one, having wasted months and now needing to engage another tax agent.

What makes this particularly unacceptable is the complete lack of accountability.

I escalated my complaint to senior management, who acknowledged that their communication could have been better and apologised for the inconvenience.

Apparently, an apology is considered sufficient compensation for months of avoidable delays and an ultimately unsuccessful service.

To be clear, my complaint is not about Etax declining to lodge my return. It is about the extraordinary amount of time they took to make that decision, the poor management of the process and their unwillingness to take meaningful responsibility for the consequences.

The fact that no fees were charged is irrelevant. Customers' time has value, and professional service providers should be accountable for how they manage it.

The irony is that Etax ultimately recommended I seek assistance elsewhere - advice that would have been considerably more useful several months earlier.

My advice to prospective customers: think very carefully before entrusting Etax with your tax affairs.

Based on my experience, I have very little confidence in their ability to identify complexity early, manage customer expectations or meaningfully resolve complaints when things go wrong.

An utterly frustrating experience, made considerably worse by senior management's dismissive approach to accountability. I would not recommend Etax
