All About Denby
When you buy Denby, you're choosing items with purpose and soul: hand-crafted, considered and made-to-last pieces that are truly a conscious choice. We’re still on the same site in Derbyshire where the pottery was founded in 1809 and our rich heritage is built on the generations of craftspeople making pottery here. Nestled next door to the seam of clay which our founder discovered, many traditional hand-crafting techniques are still used in our factory today. Everything we design and craft has versatility, beauty and durability, and is truly styled by life.
Versatile
One set can be everyday and special occasions, and every piece can be used in the oven, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Our ranges are super versatile and multi-functional so a smaller number of pieces are needed - cook, serve and store in the same piece. Mugs double as plant pots, bowls as candle or trinket holders and jugs as vases.
Beautiful
Our stunning glazes and shapes make Denby a lovely thing to have in your home, share when you’re entertaining and also to buy as a thoughtful and sustainable gift. Our ceramics and homewares are not just for the kitchen - enjoy them around the home to add style as well as function to any room.
Durable
Denby’s durability is legendary, an attribute which becomes increasingly important as we look to reduce our disposable purchases. Our stoneware ranges come with a 10 year guarantee, and as our stoneware is super-strong, you can use it confidently and for occasions when you might otherwise use a disposable plate or cup.

Ordered some plates and cutlery online
Ordered some plates and cutlery online. All received in good condition. Same unwavering quality. It’s a shame the company is struggling.
Great products available
Great products available. Really nicely packed. Shipping is great. I love my cups! Thank you.
THEFT of my money.
Shocking situation. Over £195 paid for products but none have arrived and no responses to my various emails including requests for refunds.
Stickers on plates don’t peel off
Bought 5 Denby James Martin dinner plates (ordered from Aldiss) ; arrived ok and plates are ok but all have stickers on them front and back THAT DON’T PEEL OFF WITHOUT TEARING INTO TINY PIECES THAT LEAVE A STICKY MESS - very annoying!!!!

Great product
Great mugs. I've only knocked off a star because I had to wait for the mugs, which meant they didn't arrive in time as I was giving them as a present, but they are now appreciated and used daily.
Goodbye and thanks for all the plates 😁
Excellent products and friendly staff. You will be greatly missed.
Amazing and consistent company right to…
Amazing and consistent company right to the end. Provided fantastic pieces for myself on many occasions for decades.
Very very sad that they survived over two centuries and through two world wars providing employment and service to the country yet were destroyed by Utility company costs and the government. Both groups (and all parties) should be ashamed of themselves.
Disappointed unfortunately.
Disappointed unfortunately.
I placed my order on the 4th of May. They advised that orders were taking up to 20 working days to complete. Fair enough, I thought. I'm happy to wait due to the unprecedented demand.
Unfortunately, 20 working days had passed and I had heard nothing so I emailed denby on the 17th of June asking for an update. Between the 4th of May and 17th June I had received zero correspondence.
I was advised that my transaction had timed out and that customers affected by this issue would be emailed within the next few days to advise on next steps. I waited for a few days and didn't receive this email. I then sent a follow-up email on the 6th of July asking when I would receive this email. I was advised I could make repayment via the phone line but didn't feel comfortable doing this over the phone so opted to wait for the email that they said would be sent to me, instead. I assumed there would be an automated payment link in this email hence why I waited for it.
I then received an email today, 24th of July advising that my order had been cancelled.
It doesn't appear that I'll be getting any of the items I ordered. I believe I am in the small minority who have been affected this way and it seems based on other reviews, others affected also ordered in May.
A British Icon
I have been collecting Denby for over 30 years and am devastated a British icon is no more. The quality of every piece I’ve purchased is outstanding and has stood the test of time. I treated myself to some more pieces but was sad to see not long afterwards they are no more. Thank you Denby for many, many years of adorning our table. You will be missed.
I love Denby and have a lot of their dinnerware
I love Denby and have a lot of their dinnerware. I was ordering more to increase the amount of covers I had and the items were so badly packed every item was smashed; which was a shame. They replaced them, but still a little disappointing
Great customer experience
I stupidly put the wrong postcode on my order and the delivery driver couldn’t find the address. Customer services at Denby sorted it all out for me. They located the package, changed the address and re delivered without charging me any extra. Really impressed with the service.
Factory shop staff seconds...
Visited denby pottery village again today.
Don't think the women in the factory shop, could have been anymore ŕude or abrupt. Very unfriendly.
It must be something that was in their job description, as they've got it off to a tee.
But thankfully the ladies in the cafe, are friendly and the cake is always good.
Such a shame this place is going.
Great product
Great product & delivery service, what a shame that they went into receivership!
I’ve been a customer for 35 years

I was very pleased with Dendy and would always consider buying something from them, as the quality was very good. Unfortunately, the company website is no longer live.
