Great option for full-time travel

I am traveling full time and one of the big challenges was figuring out affordable health care coverage. Luckily I heard about Genki, which was a life safer, at what I think was a very reasonable rate. It fully covered me while outside of the U.S., but also has a level of coverage to provide up to 6 weeks coverage while I am back in the U.S. Customer service was great! Very quick responses to any of my questions.

Highly recommend

And an age where it takes forever to get to someone who can help, get a complete answer from large institutions, have clear and direct information, transparency, and kindness, GENKI is superior. Everything from the information you get upon signing up, to the ease of transaction over the months of coverage, to the complete and transparent options. Should you need to cancel because you’re going back home, everything has been above board, transparent, and easy. Highly recommend.

Best service ever

After falling ill with food poisoning in a remote area, Genki provided incredible support. Their team guided me through the entire process and covered my diagnostic expenses immediately. Highly recommend their service.

professional and fast

I've been a customer for years. Only submitted 1 claim so far. They have come back for additional information, there was a few back and forth message exchange, but even with that, the whole process was handled in 1 week, from the first submission to payout.

Only thing I didn't like

Only thing I didn't like is thater had some minor health expenses that were below the minimum limit allowed to get reimbursed. So apparently unless you get really bad, you can't cover your medical expenses with the health insurance. So I ended up paying for a health insurance I wasn't able to use and still had to pay for medical attention out of my pocket, twice.

Hi Francys,

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you had a good experience with Genki overall, and we appreciate you sharing what didn't work as well for you.

With Genki Traveler, the deductible is €50 per insurance case. It applies once to everything related to the same medical issue, not to every bill. So if you see a doctor, go back for a follow-up, and buy the prescribed medication for the same condition, all of those costs count together toward that one €50. Anything above it is reimbursed according to your contract. The deductible also doesn't apply at all to hospitalizations where you're admitted and assigned a hospital bed.

That means you don't need to get seriously ill before the cover kicks in. A single doctor's visit plus medication often costs more than €50 in most popular destinations, and our deductible is lower than what you'll usually find on the market. That said, we understand it's frustrating when a smaller expense falls just under it.

If you have any other questions, we're always available at help@genki.world.

Stay healthy 🌱

Had a case of food poisoning in Bali…

Had a case of food poisoning in Bali and immediately went to the doctor as I had a flight the following day so wanted to get sorted out.
The doctors gave me an overpriced IV package (around 300e for some basic medicine). Seeing that they charged around 40e for just paracetamol, I was sure the insurance would not pay out the full amount.
However, I filed a claim and after just 2 working days, I got approved for a full refund.
Overall, a very smooth and painless experience, will definitely be using Genki in the future!
