We loved the variety of recipes and not having to think through meal planning but 4 of our 8 boxes came completely thawed and full of rotten food. This caused bug issues of course and as for this pregnant woman lots of throwing up. We actually chose to do meal boxes again because I am pregnant with a toddler and needed some of the mental load gone.

Each of the rotten boxes came with a “credit” for the next weeks food which meant figuring out how we were going to budget for an extra $200-300 that week on new groceries. This credit is also probably why it took 4 times before I called them and said they were going to give me a full refund to my card and cancel everything. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND not even trying this company.

they changed my address without my knowledge and when the delivery was late because of it really had absolutely zero ability to help resolve the issue. I would never ever use them again

I never ordered anything from this company. I received a notification from PayPal that I had been charged, but no communication from home chef. I called the same day and was able to get a refund. I told them I did not want the service. Fast forward one month. I received another notification from PayPal. Unfortunately I did not contact them till the next day. They said it was too late to cancel the order, issuing a half months credit on the next order. I checked the website and found my account was on pause. I was unable to cancel the subscription I never signed up for. I have no idea how they got my information. The order that I received was not anything I would have chosen, despite several emails, calls, and a dispute with PayPal I got nowhere.

I have had two orders that were never delivered back to back. The first order, I was given a credit. The second time, my order was not delivered I wanted a full refund. The chat rep tried to tell me that they could not refund me since I used a credit. That was unacceptable since this was not my fault my order wasn't delivered. I disconnected and talked with a new agent who was able to send my refund right away - so kudos to them. I am waiting a couple of weeks before I place a new order. If this delivery is not received, I will never use this service again. Home Chef needs to find a reliable delivery service. I do enjoy their meal options, and it takes the headache out of meal planning.

I signed up for Home Chef. Their service seemed extremely reasonable and I thought I would try, especially since they indicated they had a vegetarian menu. Many of these services make you pay before seeing the menus in detail. Not a good thing! It really should make one wonder. I paid (stupidly), then reviewed the very limited vegetarian menu. Very disappointed! I immediately wanted to cancel. Bottom line: I have asked repeatedly for cancellation. They do not cancel. Just PAUSE. I continue (16x) to demand to cancel. They ignore and put my subscription in pause mode. Very unprofessional and questionable company. Use care before you become stuck in their system.

I was browsing, and they subscribed me before I was even able to browse their menu. Despite unsubscribing immediately, I was unable to cancel the first box, and was not given a refund.

Man, I want to give them a good review. 1 year ago, I would have. But there has been a dramatic decline in quality over the past year.
1) Wrong protein. Nothing will mess up your weekly meal plan than getting the wrong (or missing completely) protein. I didn't pay for a delivery service to go grocery shopping for stuff they missed
2) Spoiled ingredients. Vegetables being so rotted they are jelly when they arrive. Bell Peppers full of water, green onions dehydrated to the point you can't use them, or green portion rotted and soggy. Per chopped peppers and onions marinating in a slimy soup by the time you open the packet. Tomatoes too ripe to use. Small bottle of vinegar, oil and other sauces with loose lids that leak their contents all over everything. Not only don't you have that ingredient anymore, now the entire box is swimming in it.I've had to throw away nearly half the food in a single shipment, recently.
3) Packaging. This one needs mentioning now. They used to ship in a larger box but they have reduced the size and now everything looks like they jumped on the contents to force them into the smaller containers. Cooking trays all bent, flatbreads broken in half, vegetables bruised and unusable.

I want to quit this service every week now. Customer service will refund problem items but you get tired of taking pictures of what you are talking about, or even just communicating problems each week. I just want fresh food delivered in a useable conditions so I can make what would be a great tasting meal if you had all the stuff to make it... I hope they get it together because they were really great, and could be again. But there is only so much you can take and if I leave the service it is very unlikely anything they could say to get me back.

Frequent missed or late deliveries including "it will be there later tonight, when it is in UT and we are in NV. Does not have common sense to keep veggies off of ice block so they get ice burned or wilted. Absurd amount of non-recycliable plastic. Seasoning super salty. Takes 30 to 40 minutes to prep and instructions frequently tell you "while x is cooking, do this..." But x requires constant attention so cooking is very annoying. Generally I just take the ingredients and make whatever myself.

How would anyone think that creating an account to check pricing, look at menu options, or seeing the service details of a home-delivery service would initiate an order? I paused my account but that didn't stop the first, UNPLACED delivery. But they don't even have my payment information! If they sue me for payment, it will be a class-action countersuit they're going to face. It's entrapment and WRONG.

I love the meals and I love having the variety offered by the service. However, the fulfillment process is less than optimal. There has been an issue with at least one part of my order every week since I joined. Their only offer is a refund but that does not solve the underlying issue which is their fulfillment process. When speaking with customer "no" service, they hang up on me rather than allow me to speak to someone in management.

I would give this company zero stars if I could. Home Chef automatically signed me up and charged me for a subscription without my approval. When I contacted customer service to complain, they refused to issue a refund. Instead, they offered me a credit for future orders. This is completely useless to me because I will never use their service again. This is an unethical business practice and a total scam.

If you were going to shop this website, do your order and complete it before you leave the website. If you don't, and leave anything in your cart, within a day or two, it will process whether you want it or not. They won't give you a refund. They'll give you 50% off. It's a scam. There is no supervisor to talk to. You get people that are working from home and have "no one to transfer you to".

After receiving a promotion to come back to this company I had to reactivate my account to view the meals. I decided I wasn't ready to make any decisions so left it alone. Without my knowledge or approval they just assigned me meals and charged my card. I called immediately and explained to them I didn't order these and they said the wouldn't do anything about it because "a ticket was already created for the order." Eventhough the order wasn't supposed to be delivered for another 4 days! When I asked to speak to management they said management won't discuss these issues... unbelievably horrendous customer service. I will most definitely be going to another company should I chose to have meals delivered to my door from now on.

We have used Home Chef for a while, and finally after the 3rd late delivery where we had to throw out all of the food, we have decided to cancel. Instead of canceling, however, we did not go all the way through the correct process and they charged us for an extra week. I learned of it on Friday at 530 and called immediately…they just said “sorry” and we are receiving a lot of food that we neither like nor want. Terrible company with horrible customer service.

i consistently received my order behind schedule. Sometimes it would arrive at 11 PM other times it would arrive a full day late. The downside to that is when you receive an order that's a day late. All of the ice packs are melted and the food is in the 50° range. I will not cook meat it's 57°. When they used FedEx, everything worked fine since they switched to Veho everything failed

Not much assortment. Chicken became rancid without having time to cook it. Chicken chicken chicken. Most had no flavor . Prep time was much longer than stated. Might as well go to the supermarket

Got our first delivery and already cancelled future deliveries. The vegetables were of a poor quality and everything was jumbled in the box. Quality is very poor. Huge mistake to try this delivery program.

I signed onto Home Chef just to see the meals and cost they offered. Next thing I knew, I had four meals picked for me and sent. I didn't know it was all automatic and not cancellable unless you call them. They said it was in the fine print, and the agent on chat basicaly said "tough." They must be desperate for business to run such a scam website.

I am a lousy cook even with recipes. We have spent the last two years trying different food services that provide meal kits/prep'ed meals, microwave options. We looked for ease of prep / quality of produce and meats / ability to tailor for various health needs. etc. Finally, this year, we have tried Home Chef. AMAZING!

From the meal kits (with pictures) to the oven ready options to the TEMPO meals - we have found everything we have ordered to be excellent.

Produce is fresh. Meats are high quality. Portions are perfect. The varying meal selections suit the different tastes and dietary needs of this household.

Step by step instructions with photos are extremely helpful. The Premium and Culinary options are great. Together they allow me to look like I know what I am doing.

This seemed like a great idea to add some variety to our weekly menu, especially since they were offering a new customer discount. I received the first delivery of food today. It wasn't divided correctly; some food was missing or replaced with pork (not on my diet); vegetables were of poor quality or squished; and the salmon leaked on everything. After contacting them about the delivery, they canceled my account and refunded the upcoming delivery (which they had already charged me). They did not offer any solutions for today's delivery. I guess I'm headed to the grocery store after all. On the positive side, we will add a little variety to our static menu and the recipes were printed onto full sheet cards. Honestly, my money would have been better spent on a new cookbook instead.
