I'd been advised to visit an optician with my son, with support from his opthalmologist. Straightforward to get eyes tested for a glasses prescription - or so you'd think (I'm only basing it on several decades of experience of my own and that of my family after all). Very pleasant, professional staff dealt with my son well initially... But failed to get any kind of reading or measurement from him. No suggestions for trying anything different, no real interaction with my son at first -and by the time someone that was any good with kids showed up, he was cross, tired and upset. As was I. I think my favourite moment had to be 'Well, he hasn't started school yet, so we don't need to worry about glasses or correcting his vision just yet anyway'. Well, that's just fine - leave a three year old to continue to struggle to see, to have difficulties seeing books that he's already so fond of. He clearly doesn't need to be able to recognise people or see anything that he could trip over. Great! I'd give the Barrow-in-Furness branch one star, were it not for the fact that the staff were very pleasant. I shan't be returning, neither would I recommend the experience to anybody else.
