The “protection” fee is a joke – don’t count on them when it actually matters
If you think paying for HousingAnywhere’s so-called tenant protection means you’re actually protected, think again. My friend and I booked the same apartment, saw the same problems, documented the same issues — and yet when it came to my case, they suddenly decided none of that mattered, hiding behind vague technicalities to avoid paying out.
Support is slow to the point of being borderline unresponsive — days without a reply, despite this being a paid service that’s supposed to help exactly when things go wrong. And when they finally did respond, it wasn’t with a genuine review of the situation, it was with a scripted excuse clearly designed to protect their own bottom line, not the tenant who paid for their guarantee.
Their idea of a “solution” was refunding a fee, but only if I booked something new through them — which is not customer protection, it’s a sales tactic disguised as a resolution. If you’re expecting real support or accountability from this platform when something actually goes wrong, don’t count on it. The protection fee is essentially money down the drain.
