Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 35 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about the complete lack of hosts to break the ice, leaving people entirely to their own devices. Reviewers also strongly highlighted severe communication failures, noting that support agents consistently ignored messages and failed to process urgent refund requests. Many participants pointed out significant gender imbalances and uncoordinated atmospheres at the gatherings. However, some people mentioned specific problems regarding the venues and event locations. Attendees reported arriving at incorrect spots, experiencing sudden last-minute changes, or finding that local staff had no knowledge of the scheduled gatherings.

30+ event at Little Neon Door

30+ event at Little Neon Door. The venue was so overcrowded it was genuinely unpleasant and, in my view, unsafe. No ventilation, no space, no possibility of the conversations the event exists to create. I left. Selling that many tickets into that room was not an accident, it was a decision.
The host spent the night flirting with the women and treating the men as background. If you are a man paying full price, understand what you are actually buying.
I used Thursday years ago and it worked. This does not. The brand is coasting on what it used to be.
And when it goes wrong there is nobody there. Days of trying to reach a human, including via Instagram, and nothing but AI responses. That is not a support failure, it is a design choice: make complaining hard enough and most people stop.
Formal complaint and refund request submitted. I will update this review with their response, or with the absence of one.
Do not pay for an event here until they can tell you the venue capacity and give you a human contact.

One of the most poorly organised and…

One of the most poorly organised and run events I’ve ever had the mis fortune to be part of. I love how it’s just one big joke, everyone seems to be in on it apart from the people who paid to be there. Avoid at all costs and if you feel like giving them the benefit of the doubt. Don’t.

Dodgy & Disgusting. Private Information Published Publicly Without Consent or Clear Disclosure

Attended my 1st Thursday/Matchbox AI Matching event on 23 July 2026. I was asked to complete a 1 minute survey to help out the host, "Jess". They later published my feedback as a recurring public review using my name for every event organised by that host without informing that the feedback will be published or seeking my consent!!! Absolutely disgusting, reckless and violating! I contacted the host "Jess" who was useless and didn't provide any assistance despite her being a business partner. I also emailed Thursday/Matchbox requesting immediate removal of my feedback and name. My name is very distinct and I work in a public facing profession. I'd never have submitted the feedback had I been told it would be publically displayed or repeatedly used to promote their future events. As at 4 August 2026, I'm still seeking complete removal and waiting for a response to my complaint.

LADIES DO NOT GO ALONE

After the event repeatedly being rescheduled, I emailed asking for a refund. No one got back. I ended up being free for the event. newcastle event 23.07.2026. The host was friendly signed us in and that was it, she sat downstairs on her phone all night. Even the bar staff mentioned why were they doing her job for her.
We were sent to a tiny space to meet people.
If i went on my own as a female I would have been terrified. It was really intimidating, and upsetting
the host wasn't checking on what was happening upstairs.
One girl looked so scared as a man approached her and started demanding she talk to him
i paid for a service thinking a company host would do something ..provide a service
But scanning a barcode and telling you its upstairs
Its not worth the money

LADIES PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THESE EVENTS ALONE!!!!!!

After being to lots of terrible events…

After being to lots of terrible events and not going for a while I thought I would give Thursdays another chance. It is a massive regret. The first event I attended after the pause was a pitch your friend event. I didn't pitch anyone but someone else I spoke to at the event did and the "host" didn't even bother to upload her powerpoint slides properly so you could see all her notes, which she told me afterwards she was very upset about because obviously she wanted to be a supportive friend and deliver a quality presentation. Thursdays could not be bothered to facilitate that despite the ticket they made you pay just for them to do that one thing. The second event I attended was even worse. I spoke to someone called Ryan Mendes who claimed to be a doctor and yet told me to "piss off now" at the end of the conversation for no reason. Another man I spoke to invaded my physical space and then told me there was something on my face and that he would remove it, and then proceeded to stick his finger in my nose. I am not joking. If the events you attend are anything like the ones I have attended, you will consistently leave Thursdays events feeling one, many, or all, of violated, insulted, disgusted, or a long list of other negative emotions. I feel like I shouldn't ever give it another go ever again. You always think how much worse could it get. It always gets worse.

Pretty bad

Pretty bad. Age range was not as advertised, host was completely hands off and everyone was left to their own devices. It felt like a social more than a dating event.

AVOID

Friend couldn't come, I know they don't refund tickets, but the "support agent" just said "will be back tomorrow". What a scam of a company and a way to treat customers. You should avoid this website as plauge.

Very badly organised

Couldn't find the event/group despite my best efforts/asking around. No host to contact, no exact location details were given.
Tried to get hold of someone of Thursday: Silence, no refund. Paid for the event & getting there, as well as several hours of travelling for nothing. Stay away!

The events are worse and worse

The events are worse and worse. In London some of the events are just scams, you pay £18 and then you go there and there is no event at all and there are a few people wondering around confused (also there is no ticket at the door so is just a scam)
When there is someone is only a few people. They are scammers please do not go

Event was awful. Company are Deceptive, predatory, and spineless.

Event itself was awful - that's not even the main issue. The organisation are Deceptive, predatory, and spineless.

It takes a special kind of arrogance to send fake legal summonses to your own users just to boost your open rates. Thursday Dating’s decision to disguise marketing as a 'Jury Duty' notification is a manipulative, low-rent tactic that shows exactly how little they respect their community.
They rely on the passivity of their automated systems to dodge accountability, but make no mistake: this is a deliberate choice to prioritize shallow metrics over the wellbeing of their users. It is frankly pathetic to see a brand behave with such a lack of integrity. They don’t care about you; they only care about their engagement stats. Avoid this app at all costs

Even worse is the predictable, cowardly silence that follows. By hiding behind a screen and using automated mass mailings, they ignore the human impact of their actions. It is the definition of narrow-minded, metrics-obsessed management. They have successfully proven that their users' trust and peace of mind are completely disposable to them. A disgusting way to treat a customer base

Misleading Gender Ratio. Not What Was Advertised.

Attended many events. The events are always advertised as a balanced ratio of men to women. In reality, there are almost never an equal amount of women to men, ALWAYS more men and it ends up becoming a zoo with 3 guys trying to talk to one woman. This was never disclosed before purchase.

The organiser provided zero facilitation beyond showing up. No icebreakers, no structure, no effort to integrate solo attendees. This is not an event — it is a profit model built on male loneliness.

I am reporting this to the ASA for misleading advertising and Citizens Advice for breach of Consumer Rights Act 2015. I would strongly advise any man considering attending to ask the organiser directly, in writing, for the confirmed male-to-female ratio before purchasing.

Some of the "guests" are actually staff

Went to an event, seemed alright, gender balance was more male than female. I (male) got talking to some people, got a couple of contacts. It turns out all the attractive ones are paid to be there and to string you along. The one I spoke to acted all interested and then later tried to get me along to other events, that's when I started to suspect. I questioned a bit and got a response from management.
Be careful out there, this is definitely at least in part, a racket.

As I've read quite a few experiences…

As I've read quite a few experiences with people here and spoke to quite quite a few people during the events reflecting our experiences, it seems a constant wave of disappointment and the greed to sell as many events to overcrowded, loud venues with drastically skewed ratios is Thursday's priority - no surprise here. I was however, surprised that by giving a chance to a running event on Saturday a host would just simply not show up, so we randomly found a few people from our group and went for a social jog ourselves. When we came back over an hour later, nobody was there still and not one staff member of the venue heard of anything or from anyone related to Thursdays. I contacted them after the event about this and so far it's been 2 weeks with no reply, despite 2 of my follow ups. Past experiences with the events I'd consider pretty weak also for the reasons I mentioned before and the fact that most people - women in particular - don't really seem to go there to meet anyone or are capable of holding a conversation for longer than 20 seconds.
Overall uncomfortable experiences and a specific, club-like crowd flocking to the events - I only wish I was a bit smarter before I tried a few of their events and put my money/energy into something better.

Bear in mind, that's my experience and a number of other people I spoke to about this in London, so if your country/area is better, I envy you and happy it somehow worked out in your case :)

No refund for sick attendee, no exceptions

Bought a ticket to their Wellington event, got sick and couldn't attend. I contacted them before the event to ask for a refund. They refused, citing their non-refundable policy, with no exception for illness. NZ$22 isn't a lot to a company but it's not nothing to someone who's sick and sitting out a cost of living crisis. If you're buying tickets, know that there's zero flexibility if something goes wrong on your end.

BEWARE - misleading

BEWARE: After attending a recent event, I've come to the conclusion that Thursday is a total scam and money grabbing - the company doesn’t care at all!

I booked for a singles dinner. First of all, there was no host welcoming everyone, playing ice breaker game or keeping the chat flowing or maybe introducing people.

The ratio was 3 men to 11 women so not balanced even though the website claimed it would be 50/50 split. A few people hadn’t turned up - the table was booked for 20 people. All they had done was literally booked a table in a Resturant and charged people £15 per head for a seat. There was no drink included, seems a-lot to pay if you consider Thursdays are making £300 for literally booking a table in a restaurant. No thought put into the event at all. No name tags or place name cards. We were left to our own devices which made us all think what are we actually paying for?
